Origins

From a young age, Tyrome was labeled as "gifted". While other kids played on their summer afternoons in Detroit, Ty went to work with his father where he would sit for hours watching man and machine alike work on the auto assembly lines. Before the age of 10, Ty began showing a remarkable aptitude for understanding the machines.

He graduated top of his class and years ahead of his peers. From there, college was the next logical step, followed by multiple PhDs. He wrote several several papers on the future of technology but quickly found that his vision was not only ahead of his time, but very costly as well.

Determined to prove out his theories and gain funding at the same time, Ty moved to Paragon City where, with the help of several investors, he created a hero identity of Gadgit. He joined a league of other heroes and devoted months of his life to cleaning up the streets. Ty even allowed himself to befriend a young woman known as Nightblade, who relied on her magical sword and armor to carry her into battle.

Then came that fateful day when Ty found himself against a powerful member of the Circle of Thorns. Both intelligence and technology failed him as his every attempt was batted aside with the mage's power. Spells and demons tore at Tyrome to nearly an inch of his life before Nightblade arrived to save him.

Ty spent months healing and rehabilitating his broken form. He'd lost one arm and an eye in the battle, with doctors telling him that his days of playing hero were over. Refusing to see any of his former teammates, including Nightblade, he took up a quaint professorship at Paragon U and resigned to live out the rest of his days in mediocrity.

A few years passed, when a man approached him with a package. Inside laid the shattered remains of Nightblade's armor and sword. The woman had apparently finally met her end during the second Rikti invasion. She'd left her wealth and possessions to him, along with a simple note: "For the sake of all heroes, make our sacrifices matter."

Inspired, Tyrome spent the next year transforming himself into a weapon. Technology failed him once in the face of magic but it would not do so again. From Nightblade's armor, which had allowed her to heal rapidly and deflect many kinds of damage, he plated a new cybernetic arm to replace the one he'd lost. From her sword, which had the ability to strike terror into her foes just by being near it, he crafted several staffs.

In addition to his new arm and staffs, which were designed to collapse and fold into his cybernetic limb, Ty created a new robotic eye for the one he'd lost and augmented his body heavily to improve his strength, stamina and speed.

It was a grueling, painful process. In the end, however, he lived up to Nightblade's final request. From the ashes of Gadgit and Nightblade a new hero was born. Part man, part machine and shrouded in magic, he assumed a new identity: Spellforged!
