From another world, he comes - but to aid, or to conquer?

The Star Champion's first and truest friend on Earth - also his native guide and self-proclaimed "sidekick" - is young Billy Perkins, more properly known as Billie Perkins. (Due to her habits and manner of dress, the Champion did not discover that the young human was female for several days.) Billie is a font of information about Earth and its cultures, some of it correct. She's also clever, fearless, and has a knack for getting herself in over her head. Jezon has warned the girl against this, but it never seems to stick. He has resigned himself to rescuing her on a semi-regular basis.

When the subject of bravery came up, early in their association, Billie said that the bravest people she knew belonged to the fire department. "They risk their lives to save others. Most of 'em don't even have powers, but that doesn't stop 'em." (Billie's father was a fireman, killed in the line of duty a few years ago.) This led to the Star Champion going down to the nearest station house and solemnly declaring that he wished to join "your Fire Department." The FDPC wasn't quite sure what to do with him at first, but he's proven himself an able volunteer firefighter and has appeared in several memorable PSAs on fire safety.

There is considerable mutual distrust between Vanguard and "the alien." Jezon has resolved to fight the Rikti on his own terms and let his deeds speak for themselves. He's on shaky ground with Longbow as well, having butted heads with some of their prouder officers.

Personality

["Proud Warrior Race Guy" covers it pretty well, at least for now.]

Powers

The Star Champion has no abilities that would qualify as metahuman.

Abilities

Jezon is a warrior born, trained in the arts of combat from a young age. He is a master of the force sword (and can improvise with other long-bladed weapons) as well as several forms of unarmed combat, including boxing and Rigellian judo.

Equipment

Force Sword

The hilt of this weapon projects a shimmering blade of pure immaterial force, which cuts impossibly fine. It can also be tuned (for non-lethal duels) to deliver a painful, numbing shock.

Force Shield

The generator for this nearly-impenetrable circle of amber energy is built into the Champion's left gauntlet. In addition to protecting him, it emits a small repulsor discharge when struck, adding to the effectiveness of shield bashes and similar maneuvers.

Space Armor

The gleaming high-tech armor of the Star Champion is made to protect against the many hazards of Outer Space - vacuum, cosmic radiation, micrometeors, the heat of blazing suns and the utter cold of space itself - as well as the more mundane rigors of combat. It also incorporates many useful devices, some of which are listed separately below.

Communicator

A comm unit, which can tune into primitive radio as well as the more common etheric and sub-etheric bands, is part of the Champion's helmet. It includes an automatic translator circuit.

Life Support

An invisible force bubble around the helmet and a small, partially-recycled air supply allows the Star Champion to survive and fight in airless environments for a period equivalent to 24 Earth minutes.

Lifters

Integrated into the Champion's armor are small anti-gravity units which allow him to fly at good speed for short distances - generally a hundred miles or less. (For longer trips - city to city, or surface to orbit - he has a fully-enclosed travel pod, which in turn docks with his personal spacecraft.)
