HISTORICAL ANALYSIS

Biography

Currently, all historical and constructional information regarding Steelgeist has been rendered as "classified" by the mechanical being itself. Certain public data, however, is up for knowledge--Telden Schneider, in particular, was previously a quiet, reclusive man who liked to bury himself in his studies of the paranormal. When he required a lab for his work, he purchased the dead-end territory of Boy Scout Lane in Winsconson. Supposedly a haunted area, Telden had no troubles with getting it.
Telden's line of work, however, proved to be very difficult and very troubling--particularly first-hand scouting of paranormal areas, which often resulted in hazard to his life. After a broken arm, Telden decided to construct an assistant to, well, assist him.

A researcher by nature, with engineering only as a side hobby, not much was detailed in notes about the construction of Steelgeist, but results were. Steelgeist's components and workings, however, are mostly outdated, using several-year-old technology and coding tricks that by all means should NOT create a machine as effective and as...complex as Steelgeist is. Something else is clearly at hand in the work of his construction, though multiple arcane scans have resulted in nothing--whatever it is, is purely technological...or simply can't be scanned.
Telepaths have noted that Steelgeist's thought patterns are surprisingly similar to a human being's, complete with capability to remember things, forget them, learn, gain likes and dislikes, and even have emotional patterns.
It is of note that said thought patterns are not to be confused with self-aware sentience, which is incredibly common among robots these days. Perfectly similar in effect, wildly different in cause.

Both Steelgeist and Telden, however, have been maddeningly mum about the robot's history--repeated questions about such things have only given the word "classified". Steelgeist's insistence that his story will be told "if he gains a close friend to tell it to" reveals that he is willing to inform his story at a later date.

(NOTE TO SELF: Finish writing the story, you lazy bum)

Personality

Steelgeist seems to have a dual personality, or at least two very conflicting parts. A single sentence to sum him up would be "Batman played by Spiderman". Though normally very serious, dark, and quite brooding, Steelgeist has an inner comedian that often just begs to be unleashed. Whether this is just odd questions, sharp quips about situations, or just plain jokes, it's impossible for Steelgeist to stay as serious and straightforward as he wants to be. And with the line of work he is in, Steelgeist desperately WANTS to be serious and straightforward.
Another thing that definately hurts his attempts to be serious is that he is an admirer of attractive women--he is a machine, so he tries his best to hide it, but it's still there regardless.

Legal Status

Being a mechanical being, Steelgeist has no rights. Telden Schneider treats him like a son, but there is nothing legal that makes Steelgeist anything more than a mere robot.

Current Status

Steelgeist is currently working in Paragon City as required of his function--to investigate, contain, and combat paranormal threats that have gotten out of hand. His top three directives are as follows:
Primary: Serve and protect Dr. Telden Schneider to the utmost of ability.
Secondary: Investigate, sample, and recover as many instances of magical artifacts, species, or energies as can be done.
Tetriary: Prevent civilian casualties or injuries due to others misusing paranormal forces or assault with said forces.

Due to protecting civilian life being of a tetriary cause, this has often put him at odds against several heroes that take dislike to his tendency to put objects of power above the sanctity of human life.

TACTICAL ANALYSIS

Equipment

"Flint" and "Glass"

The two oversized forearms on Steelgeist's person can act as conduits and emitters of the strange energy Ectoplasma that courses through him--either of his hands can get sucked inside of the buster, leaving a large hole that said energy is shot out of. Being of thick and sturdy construction, Steelgeist is also capable of whacking people upside the head with either of these busters.

Web-Wrapping Razor Wire and Movement Hindering Grenade

Often shortned to "Webnade", Steelgeist has plenty of small spheres that he can chuck at people--when burst open via impact, a powerful net made out of a mixture of razor wire and fiberglass trap and ensnare an opponent, often cutting and slicing at them. Tar is also contained in the grenades, slowing movement down and increasing the weight of the mixture to weigh people down so much they cannot jump or fly.
These webnades have shown to be of particular annoyance to winged opposition, for obvious reasons.

The grenades are also capable of being thrown on the ground in order to trap an area, keeping people pinned down and damaging them further.

Crashcharges

Miniature charges of pure electricity that Steelgeist stores on his person, then toss two-at-a-time towards the neck. Though small, the electricity has been specifically designed to, in impact, course through a target's system to reroute the central nervous system, dropping its rate much like a "caffeine crash" would, draining them of all possible energy. Energy is a much underestimated source, and often ties in to someone's force of will--when drained of it, many people do not even have the will to stand up properly, much less fight back. Thus, this is the perfect method of non-lethal containment, though it must be PRECISELY aimed at the neck in order to achieve the desired effect--though Steelgeist is capable of aiming about ten feet away in order to achieve a stun, these charges can be aimed at a range of up to fifty feet.

Impact Mine

Another non-lethal weapon, though far more powerful than the crashcharges. Though they take some time to set up and charge, when fully charged they become a force to be reckoned with. When any force deemed hostile by Steelgeist comes near the charged mine, it lets out a powerful burst of seismic force that cracks into the nearby area with the force of a semi-truck, breaking or at least seriously pounding anything that dared to irritate it. Normal human beings or civilians have often been hospitalized with a single head-on blow from an impact mine, a testament to simply how powerful sheer force can be.

Armor

(Multiple armors retconned away in lieu of upgrade to version 1.3. Note to self: Update later)

Superhuman Powers

Steelgeist is capable of erupting an energy form referred to as "Ectoplasma" out of his busters. The make and composition of this energy is entirely unknown, though criminals apprehended by it have often remarked "it leaves a lemon scent". Whether this is a hint to the composition of the energy or is just a quirky side effect is unknown. The energy seems to have an extra effect against undead, demons, zombies, and ghosts, injuring them far more than beings from this plane. Though even if one has a resistance against the energy, it seems to be partially composed of incredibly dense material that can act as blunt trauma--allowing Steelgeist to, effectively, club people into submission.

Fighting Skills

STYLE: Five-Element Xingyiquan
Steelgeist was programmed with knowledge of Five-Element Xingyiquan. Xingyiquan is an "internal" martial art, focusing upon coordinating the body and focusing the mind as opposed to simply brute strength. With a focus upon direct footwork that leads to shocking, sudden attacks, a Xingyiquan fighter uses efficient and coordinated movements to generate very powerful, very quick attacks to very vulnerable areas. Numerous, numerous different variations of this art exist, and Steelgeist himself doubts that this style is true to the original--Five Element Xingyiquan, however, is a branch that uses the five classical Chinese elements to metaphorically represent different states of combat.
Xingyiquan practitioners use the Five Elements as an interpretative framework for reacting and responding to attacks. This follows the Five Element theory, a general combat formula which assumes at least three outcomes of a fight; the constructive, the neutral, and the destructive. Xingyiquan students train to react to and execute specific techniques in such a way that a desirable cycle will form based on the constructive, neutral and destructive interactions of Five Element theory. Where to aim, where to hit and with what technique (and how those motions should work defensively) is determined by what point of which cycle they see themselves in.

The elements are...
SPLITTING (Metal) - Like an axe chopping up or over, simple attacks that strike hard and open up areas.
POUNDING (Fire) - Exploding outward like a cannon, a sudden shock of a devastating technique that precedes a rest.
DRILLING (Water) - Drilling forward and refusing to let up, single techniques with multiple stages that do more and more damage.
CROSSING (Earth) - Crossing the line of attack while turning over, dodging and then retaliating.
CRUSHING (Wood) - Arrows constantly blazing forward, constant assaults of repeated movements.

Method of Transporation

True to his identity of a "Geist", Steelgeist primarily gets around by floating, flying, and generally propelling himself through the air.

Other Noteworthy Skills and Abilities

Steelgeist's scanners are also incredibly advanced no matter what form he is in, and is capable of seeing otherworldly, hidden, or phased entities a lot easier than other beings.
Steelgeist is also capable of reading numerous arcane languages, and forms of writing and speaking that should not be beheld by man.

Known Weaknesses

Steelgeist was designed mostly for taking down ghosts, spirits, demons, and other creatures. While he has a great series of ectoplasmatic blasts, a decent hand-to-hand combat system, and powerful armor, the fact remains that he was not designed for the rigors of heroing. Add to the fact that his systems, design, and schematics are composed of obsolete materials and outdated machinery, and he refuses to undergo an upgrade at the hands of anyone else aside from his creator--whom rarely seems to grant him such.
Though he is formidable in and of his own right, Steelgeist understands and has willingly admitted that he is nothing compared to the more powerful metahumans specific to Paragon and the Rogue Isles.

(In OOC terms, he sucks in PvP. And kinda sucks in PvE, too, but the player doesn't, so that makes up for the char sucking)

Trivia

1: Serial number is MaSu7-TE-13. While a bit of self-insertion with TE13, more important is the MaSu--which is the common abbreviation of the SID Metal band, Machinae Supremacy.
2: Geist is german for Ghost. Steel Ghost is a somewhat obscure band, blending together rock, funk, and R&B in a rather interesting mix.
3: Steelgeist's busters, Flint and Glass, is a reference to the band of the same name, Flint Glass.
4: Steelgeist enjoys reading suspense books and watching horror movies.
5: Steelgeist's civilian alias, Leon Worson Schneider, is named after the James Worson Incident, one of the more infamous disappearances in history.

Inspirations

Mega Man, of course. His entire line of thinking that lead me to make him was basically "Mega Man Fighting Ghosts Instead of Robot Masters". One look at the Steelgeist design, and you can pretty much nod to yourself "Skull Man On Crack". CastleVania and Devil May Cry also added a lot of stylistic inspirations, but nothing blatant.
