Character

Personality

In a nutshell, Tanya's a troll. She loves physical violence and destroying things. She enjoys fighting regardless of who wins. At heart she's actually a kind soul. Tanya does what she does because she has to. She was abandoned at a young age, and turned to the Trolls for guidance, because they were the only ones available to her. She grew up learning that the best way to get the essentials in life like food, water, and shelter was to just take it. Tanya is a criminal because it's the only way she knows how to get by in life.

Around others, Tanya isn't very social. Generally she prefers to solve her problems with violence. Failing that, or around people who don't like this option, Tanya is often fairly quiet. Tanya knows she's not all that intelligent, and doesn't speak unless spoken to. However, once a person gets her going, she can be quite talkative... just don't expect her to be very philosophical. Tanya's thoughts and experiences are limited, as one would expect. Generally Tanya just has work to speak of, or her general interest in destroying things.

With friends, Tanya generally looks for intelligent people. Not so intelligent that they make her feel stupid, but that she can try to hold an intelligent conversation with someone. Tanya will, however, get into heavy conversations with people around the same mental level as her as long as the conversation is about smashing. Tanya appreciates nice people, and doesn't enjoy being around people who are mean or angry. Tanya has a soft side, and likes to be around people who are gentle and kind.

Background

Trolls aren't born the way they are. Tanya's progression to a Troll began when she was just a young girl, not even into her teens. Tanya had always lived with her single mother, not knowing anything about her father. She lived a rather boring and standard life.

Tanya as a child, around age ten.

Tanya's life as a child was barely mentionable. She grew up as a pig-tailed little blonde girl. Tanya cruised through school with average grades. Much of her time as a child was spent studying, since Tanya had few friends. She didn't play outside with the other kids, and often times found she got along with the teachers and adults more than the other children. Scholastically, Tanya was not exceptional, but she never had any troubles with her studies.

When Tanya was twelve, she returned home from school one day to find that her mother was missing. Not thinking much of it at first, Tanya didn't worry. The young girl was even able to see herself off to school the next day. When she returned home, she became worried that something had happened to her mother. Scared, hungry, and alone, Tanya set out to find her mother, quickly grabbing a few things and scrambling out the door.

Saint Martial is a scary place for a young girl, and not particularly a good neighborhood. Tanya wandered until she was completely lost, calling out and looking desperately for her mother. She passed by scary looking men and woman, strange creatures and monsters. As the night grew darker, the danger grew heavier. Tanya would've run home if she could remember the way. But as luck would have it, someone found her. Someone not wanting to cause her direct harm, but perhaps a bit mischievous, with questionable intent.

The man who found Tanya was cloaked and robed, trying to hide his face from view. The darkness of the night made it even more difficult to see who he was. The man caught up to Tanya, catching her attention. Tanya was scared, but she turned to face the cloaked man and hear his words.

"You lost, girl?" the man rasped.

Tanya could barely gather the courage to respond. A stranger is one thing, but she couldn't even see the face of the man she was speaking with. "I'm looking for my mommy," she finally said with a shaky voice.

This statement seemed to make the man stop in consideration, wondering about this girl. Leaning in closer, Tanya could see part of the man's face. The moonlight made his chin look green and his teeth yellow. "You Atta girl."

Tanya blinked. Her last name was in fact Atta, but she did not know this man. She could only nod her head to agree with his statement.

A grin showed upon the man's face, making the teeth look even more yellow. "You come," the man said flatly. "Have this."

With the last statement, a bandage-wrapped hand dropped a medicine bottle into Tanya's fist. Tanya barely had time to examine it before being grabbed by the hand and pulled down the street. The bottle shook in her hand, but she was able to turn it over, reading the clear print that claimed the contents were Superadine. "What's this?" Tanya asked hurriedly, wondering where she was being taken.

The man's face turned back to stare at her. His hood was pushed back, showing more of his face. He had piercing green eyes, and his face was in fact green. Tanya was sure it wasn't just the lighting anymore. His response came back with a grin. To him, it seemed the reply was very humorous. "It candy."

The early stages of Superadine addiction are taxing on the mind and the body.

At the time, Tanya didn't believe what he was saying, but he gave her food, water, and shelter. He also gave her Superadine, which she began taking by request. Tanya's memories of this period involve the green man repeatedly saying "First one is free," numerous times, over the course of many weeks. Tanya never did understand why he was so keen on getting her addicted to the drug, but it only took a few doses before she started craving it.

Tanya's reaction to the drug was mental at first. It took quite a long time for it to work into her system. Perhaps it was her age or gender that had a different affect on the drug's effects, but Tanya was completely addicted before she even started to notice any physical side-effects. By the time Tanya realized that her skin and hair were starting to change color, she was already more concerned about Superadine than food.

Soon, the man stopped taking care of her and disappeared. Tanya was left alone again, but this time in a much worse state. She had a run-down place to sleep, but no way to get food. She also had a powerful addiction which was nearly driving her insane. Tanya soon hit the streets, and what little money she made from begging and small-time theft she spent on Superadine. There were other Trolls in this neighborhood, but Tanya mostly kept to herself unless buying drugs.

Even as the physical changes began to take over, Tanya's focus was on the drug. She rarely ate, rarely slept, and barely clung to the dirty rags that she had kept for so long. Tanya's physical strength didn't start increasing until she had been addicted to Superadine for over three months. Up to that point, she was merely a green teenager.

Once the physical changes began, Tanya started to notice the first of her powers developing. The very first ability Tanya developed was durability. Although she doesn't recall the accident that caused her to realize it, Tanya's skin was becoming much more resilient to damage. It took a month for Tanya's body to toughen to the point where even knives couldn't pierce her skin.

As soon as Tanya realized the usefulness of being incredibly durable, she became much more aggressive in her attempts to make money for food and Superadine. Since she could withstand being manhandled, Tanya began to mug and assault people more openly. Tanya only attacked criminals, not wanting to harm innocents. Although Tanya's exterior was toughening, she couldn't fully withstand direct gunfire, which she soon found out. Tanya's super strength was also not developed during this time, which generally meant Tanya used any kind of weapon she could get her hands on.

Powers and Abilities

Super Strength

Tanya's super strength can even harm foes through heavy armor, like the kind this Rikti warrior is wearing.

Alongside Tanya's tremendous stamina and lasting power is Tanya's super strength. Although she is also very fast and durable, her strength is her biggest advantage in combat.

Tanya's super strength comes entirely from being a Troll. This raw power isn't just focused in her hands, but everywhere else in her body, although she generally uses her hands in combat. Tanya's fighting style relies on the fact that a single blow can generally win the battle. She doesn't train or practice her fighting abilities. She doesn't have any particular stance, strategy, or style that she follows. In general, Tanya just swings and fights wildly, using whatever resources she has available to her. This often times involves lifting and throwing cars, using support beams as baseball bats, or even stomping the ground to create small earthquakes.

Although Tanya's fighting style is wild and unpredictable, she does have a number of moves that she uses regularly and as often as possible. She does this more for the familiarity and lack of creativity than anything else. This is as close as Tanya normally comes to training herself and honing her skills to grow stronger. Her advancement typically comes from Superadine abuse.

Although not seen very often, Tanya occasionally shows restraint in combat. Some jobs do require her to take a more gentle approach with targets, such as kidnappings or interrogation jobs. In these instances, Tanya won't use the full strength of her fists, instead relying on quick jabs or taps to a soft spot such as the stomach. Even with Tanya taking care to not harm anyone, her strength may still cause the wind to be knocked out of some weaker targets.

One of Tanya's most used techniques is nothing more than a simple punch. Of course, a punch from a Troll is much more dangerous than from most targets. Since Tanya generally fights with her hands, many of her attacks are simple punches. Tanya's immense strength allows her to simply defeat many enemies in a single blow. Therefore, a simple punch is often all it takes.

Possibly Tanya's favorite technique, and one of the easiest to pull off. Tanya is much taller than most of her opponents, usually by several feet. As such, she can easily concentrate a downward slam against their body, sending them violently crashing into the ground. Tanya generally does this with both hands, and swings them down as a powerful overhead smash.

Though most of Tanya's strength comes in quick, random bursts, she does occasionally focus on a specific area to direct her blows. Most commonly this occurs as an uppercut. Tanya generally "winds up" a punch before sending a powerful swing straight into her opponent's chin (or whatever counts as a chin if she's fighting unusual creatures or robots). Because Tanya's physical strength is so abnormally high, this tends to sends her opponents into the air.

Often times when Tanya is faced with a difficult foe or several enemies at once, her strategy is to cause a tremor by slamming a foot into the ground. This usually cracks the ground beneath and causes the ground to shake. She uses this strategy to cause enemies to lose their footing, often slipping or falling down. It's a good way for Tanya to break through defenses and catch someone off guard, especially those with sure-footing and good defensive stances. Tanya will also use this attack when she wants to cause more wide-spread havoc, such as destroying public property.

Although Tanya uses her super strength to manipulate many objects that can be used as weapons, such as cars or streetlamps, she doesn't always have ready access to such objects. When all else fails, Tanya is prone to digging her hands into the ground and pulling loose a large slab of concrete or a boulder to lob at her enemies. Most often Tanya is seen doing this in instances where she's facing enemies who are too fast for her to catch up to so she can smash them directly. Since Tanya's physical strength doesn't allow her any ranged abilities, those who would otherwise try to snare her or fly out of reach are prime targets for this tactic.

Although not technically an attack, Tanya's Superadine-fueled rage does increase her physical strength tremendously. As a Troll, Tanya is driven onward by adrenaline and the promise of combat. Tanya can force her heartbeat to increase and her adrenaline to flow, increasing the actual power and control over her strength. Of course, Tanya can't keep this up for very long before becoming winded from the physical exertion associated with forcing oneself into an adrenaline-fueled rage, but the Superadine in Tanya's system allows her to recover quickly from the expended energy. Her recovery rate from such a rage allows her to repeat it again as often as necessary, leaving her only temporarily winded. In times of extreme desperation, Tanya can even increase the effects of this forced-rage, but this kind of physical stress is heavy on her body, weakening her more dramatically after the short burst of brute force.

Known Associates

Friends/Allies
  • Jeremiad: Jeremiad is an odd fellow who seems completely infatuated with Tanya, which does nothing but confuse her. He always seems to pop up when she's around, especially in Pocket D, and is always giving her flowers or telling her she's pretty. Tanya so far doesn't know what to think of him, but has developed a long-standing relationship based mostly on the fact that he was able to defeat her in a duel. As a Troll, Tanya has to respect his pure power and force. She has lately become a "student" of his, learning as much as she can to improve her strengths and reduce her weaknesses.
Neutrals
  • Black Scorpion: Although Tanya officially has contact with Black Scorpion as her patron, this means nothing to her. Tanya only works for money and drugs and has no loyalty to Black Scorpion or Arachnos. Tanya has done numerous jobs for Black Scorpion based on the money, and has even betrayed him and defeated him in single combat, a feat which Black Scorpion still holds a grudge over. However, Tanya isn't interested in any of the Arachnos affiliations or the grudge with Black Scorpion. She doesn't consider him a rival or even an ally, just a mission-giver.
Enemies/Rivals
  • Itsumi Charr: Itsumi is just a simple hero, not too different from Tanya herself. The two met during a bank robbery that Tanya was trying to pull off, and Itsumi was the only hero around who could get there in time. At the scene, Itsumi broke a sword on Tanya's shoulder before kicking her off a rooftop. Tanya was relatively unharmed by this, so lept back onto the roof with a streetlamp she pulled out of the ground and impaled Itsumi with it. After pulling free, Itsumi's wounds healed almost immediately. The fight between the two lasted until the PPD arrived, with Itsumi unable to cause Tanya any harm and all of Tanya's attacks being instantly regenerated by Itsumi. Tanya fled the scene, and still regrets not being able to finish the fight with Itsumi.
