Affiliations

Currently an Avatar of the supergroup The Youth League.

A former member of the now defunct supergroup the H.A.I.O. (Heroes Against Inanimate Objects), disbanded after losing most of it's members to their arch-nemesis. One of the few remainders, all went their seperate ways.

Personality

An interesting character, Ray is optimistic to the extreme when with others yet a terrible pessimist when alone. Closely linked to his perfectionist nature, he sometimes tends to get depressed or overthink things and worries a lot, though he doesn't show it. On the other hand, when surrounded by those he feels comfortable with, Ray is somewhat of a joker who takes only the most important things seriously and joins the team effort with a will. Somewhat shy as well, it takes him a while to establish what he would consider a true friendship. Afterwards, he is as loyal a friend as could be wanted.

Whether because of or in coincidence with his giant height, Ray tends to see most people as 'beneath' him. While no supremicist, he does believe that in most cases he is the better person for the job and by far the most easily trusted, a minor inferiority complex together with a want to prove himself to others and himself. A personality flaw that he recognizes, he has to actively try to maintain humility and recognize that he is NOT always the best or the strongest.

Energy Emanation

Basis

From the accident that gave him his powers, Ray's body became a living energy generator, turning all surrounding energy of various types, including food and sunlight, into pure energy of an unknown form. Because of the omnipresence of such energy sources, Ray has been known to regenerate quicker than the normal human male. When at full capacity this energy transformation ends until required.

When encountering a base teleporter, the disassmebly of the transfer releases the energy violently. This was found out the hard way after accidently causing an explosion inside The Youth League's base. Ray now avoids entering the teleporter, for any reason.

Offenses

Upon command, Ray can unleash or use this energy in a multitude of ways. Primarily, he uses it as a long-range form of attack. Here, taking the appearance of white and blue orbs, they can be used from anywhere up to nearly 300 yards under the proper circumstances and pack quite a punch. When hitting the desired target, the pure energy reverts to kinetic energy, causing a blow not unlike a strong punch and sometimes flowing into the target and forcing them to fly back.

Ray also uses his latent energy to form and arc of high-powered energy around his fist, allowing him to deliver devastating blows that not only release energy directly into or onto the target, but "tear " at the surface in question due to the high-speed flow of the energy. Here, it takes a red/pink hue and can be seen leaking away from the intensity and speed of the currents. Because of the close proximity, Ray is able to continue his energy assault if necessary without spending extra on distance.

Physical Channeling

By focusing or diverting his energy stores to what's needed, Ray is able to use this to achieve incredible results and feats.

Eyes-Increased perception and range, nearly telescopic vision Fists-Increased output until energy stored is used up. An overload. Various-Increased control over energy, allowing for interesting uses and greater effects

Additional

Flight. Ray has been known to achieve high-speed flight by releasing energy from hands and feet similar to a jet engine. Able to go supersonic for very short bursts.

Increased regeneration, from the almost constant absorption of surrounding energy.

Super-human Strength and size results from excess energy being diverted to growth as a young teen.

Intimate understanding of energy. Ray's intuitive grasp of energy and related subjects allows computation, etc. at a level far beyond his years.

General computer smarts. While no genius at a computer, Ray can hold his own.

Able to create forcefields of varying degrees around himself for protection. A rather recent achievement, but a welcome one in views of his weaknesses (see: Weaknesses).

Style

Ray has been noticed to have a very phase-oriented style of combat, ranging anywhere from all over the battle pouring out unbelieveable amounts of destruction to backing up quickly, doing little actual damage, waiting for the next phase. Ray attributes this up-down cycle to a self-imposed, unconcious limit of how much energy he can release at once. At this writing, the total amount is unknown.

He takes advantage of this curiousity by waiting in advance for the best possible moment to strike, avoiding clashes when unready, and quickly closing the distance to the target, doing damage the entire way.

In certain cases of extreme importance or urgency, the limiter is overcome, allowing total use. This drains Ray temporarily until his absoprtion brings the power-levels to normal. When conciously attempting this risk, Ray jokingly calls it his "Blitz". Even the toughest enemies are forced backward by the sheer force of the assault.

Weaknesses and Limitations

Ray's greatest strength in turn results in his greatest weakness. Though grown to a massive 8 feet tall, his body is sustained through the metabolizing of nutrients and the like into pure energy. As is easy to see, his body size is unnatural, and gives him many problems through wear and tear as may be expected of someone older.

Heart Strain

The huge size of his body creates undue stress on his heart, which must in turn work much harder. Recent studies of his heart has revealed it to be similar in condition to a heart more than double the age. The strenuous and quite stressful work of being a hero does not help his case, and continued study and perhaps intervention may be required to make sure of Ray's continued health and well-being.

Joints

Like the heart, his joints are as a normal humans but are holding far more mass and weight. The cartilage and bone has been worn down slightly, as would be expected of someone far older.

Physically Normal

All in all, despite Ray's extensive growth and incredible powers, his body and it's makeup is normal. Without his ability to project forcefields around himself, Ray would be uniquely unsuited for heroing as an easy target and easily disposed of. To combat this, Ray has trained to finish clashes quickly, with overwhelming intensity to reduce personal risk.

Equipment

He carries a Youth League Comm. Unit, standard issue, which he added to his already advanced Micro-Computer, often seen as a monocle over his eye or in one of his gauntlets.

The Gauntlets themselves are important. as well as carrying containers and various helpful tools, they allow Ray to contain the overflow or waste of energy emanation through specfic paths constructed into the gloves. The belt and boots work similarly.

All other equipment, including a computer hooked up to the Paragon City Mainframe, many records, and various gadgets, can be found at his apartment, at an undisclosed location in Steel Canyon.
