Axel's Path

Axel's outlook on life is usually bored and melancholy. He views the world as a despicable and horrific place, largely due to the world he grew up in. While his early childhood in Jacksonville was sweet and simplistic, he moved to Port Oakes, which was poverty stricken with crime raging on the streets, little done to stop it other than the very few agents from the US willing to run and pop a few bad guy skulls. When Axel was 7, his 4-year-old sister was hit by a car and died in the hospital, her head crushed by the wheels of the car. The memories of this incident largely caused the move to the Isles, coupled with their funds rapidly depleting afer Fredrick lost his job, their family nearing eviction.

As Axel grew into adolescence, his parents grew into lunacy. They started to walk around the house awkwardly back-to-back when he was 15 and continued to. They insisted they move to the smaller and slightly more dangerous Mercy Island for absolutely no reason. They even started breaking dishes together for no apparent reason, laughing hysterically all the while. The reason for their lunacy isn't known, but what is known is that when Axel was 17, his parents, reminiscent of Bonnie and Clyde, donned 30s style suits bought from a novelty pawn shop and tommy guns from the Family and started to rob houses and banks.

When his parents were caught, they were shipped to separate asylums around the Isles. The white coats tried to take him to a foster home, but he resisted, dashing off past the steel walls of the good side of town, headfirst into the northern side of the island. On this side, he had to dodge dangerous Snakes and deadly Skulls who were willing to eat him or slit his throat for absolutely no reason other than their own pleasure and idea of personal boundaries.

He hid in attics of abandoned, dilapidated buildings around Mercy during the night, sleeping and searching the attics for useful items and scavenging in the day. As he had slipped past various potential foes, he got a brief rush from the excitement of all of it, maybe even a natural high. Axel, on March 29, 2009, about 3 months from when his parents were detained, was caught by an Arachnos patrol around 11 PM in the attic of one of the abandoned high rises. They were looking for a 'VIP prisoner' and instead found Axel.

Axel was "offered" a position in Arachnos's academy and even he knew that he was being forced, but he accepted less reluctantly than you'd think. Knowing that he would be going to an academy with real food made him respect Arachnos more than he used to. He went through his Wolf Spider training just how Recluse had intended, in the right order and everything. What lied ahead in his career as a simplistic soldier no better than the gangsters he feared so much he had no idea.

Axel the Spider

Axel does not revere the scions of the infamous tyrant who he is indirectly controlled by. Lord Recluse has always been an evil and horrific man willing to do whatever it takes to foster growth in his organization, even if it takes the measure of killing innocents, which Axel absolutely despises. Axel claims to be simply in it "for the perks" of not the relatively average pay, but the temporary housing, the armor, the training and, most of all, the authority on the streets.

While physically behind most of his peers, intellectually, he is one of the most cunning Crab Spiders to live. Although due to his ranking he is rarely appointed as a tactician or superior, he believes quite truly that he would make a very ruthless and powerful leader amongst his men, with his mental prowess standing out amongst the rest. His speech mannerism is certainly more formal than the average Joe, putting his expansive vocabulary to use.

He considers himself nothing more than a grunt at best, even with his rebellious spirit raging against superiors, disobeying direct orders and questioning their authority. He has been promoted to Huntsman near the end of 2010, just before Christmas. In his time as a Wolf Spider and a Huntsman, the blood of 5 men have been on his hands (metaphorically, in most cases), and many more are being tacked on.

Vilified the Keeper

In 1940, a man named Edmund R. Merrick had decided that the slaughter of his Jewish people had become too much. Edmund, from America, wanted to avenge his dead Polish parents and old friends and all who had been destroyed by the Reich of Germany. Because of this, he knew he had to make himself something beyond an average soldier. Thus, inspired by Statesman and other heroes that had risen in the war, he created a costume for himself, with plans to become a vigilante amongst the war.

He clipped his capes and cloths and stuffed them in the bag, and off to New York he went. Sneaking onto a military boat with some old soldier's clothes he had found lying in his house (likely from his father), Edmund was off to fight the Germans.

And this is precisely what he did. He raged into Poland and shot the first Nazi he saw. He gunned them down, one by one, searching for stragglers. He was just another random rebel, working while both sides had lain low, and taking out weak points. He was in a full-blown killing spree against the Reich, and cared very little. He was an assassin that stood out amongst the rest, simply because of his costumed crusade.

But nobody understood why he lasted so long. Some say it was sheer luck. Even he didn't consider it skill, rather being in the right place at the right time. But as he started to drop the bodies of more and more of the fascist stormtroopers, he began to make a name for himself. Most believed he was simply a myth or rumor that they passed around in camps, and most still do.

They thought he'd stalk anyone he saw sporting a swastika, and gut them like a fish. This wasn't too far from the truth, though.

The rumor spread like wildfire one day, and it made it up to higher command. He was shot in the shoulder by sniper fire and dislocated it, effectively disabling him, where he was treated by Polish rebels that had found him during a night run for supplies. However, this sniper shot confirmed his existence, and he was thought dead until another body dropped.

This time, it had a signature written with it. Painted in blood on the soldier's clothes read "VERUNGLIMPFEL," a German word that meant "to vilify." He was never officially named before this soldier turned up, and this lead to higher Nazi officials giving him the moniker Vilified. He was to be hunted for in Poland, and killed on sight.

One day, unfortunately, Edmund's spree ended when he was shot three times in the chest by a watchful SS officer, whose companion had been shot in the thigh. Edmund's story was tossed away, never to be remembered, and never existed in fear that it may make the Reich look weak. Axel learned of his defiance against those damned nazis, and ressurected it in new light.

Association

(Go ahead and drop your name but beware Axel's melancholy responses.)

Death's Tease- An unusual ghostlike woman who Axel first encountered when he walked into the Fallen Vanguard's base.

"She's relatively kind, especially to me, and seems to be in the best interest of the Fallen Vanguard. Helped me bring that bastard Zeta down, too."
