Background

Born Ticonderoga Ross, at the base medical clinic aboard Camp Lejeune, NC, she began life as a Marine brat, following her parents from duty station to duty station, never staying in any particular place for more than a year or so.

After high school, she pursued a degree in electrical engineering at Texas A&M in the Navy's ROTC Program. Upon graduation she began flight training. Ticonderoga spent eight years in the Navy, Flying the F-14 tomcat almost exclusively.

Sky Raiders and Privateering

After her discharge from the Navy Lt. Ross continued to fly, taking on various odd jobs and making a name for herself in the mercenary community. During one of these jobs, she was approached by Colonel Duray of the then-unknown Sky Raiders.

Duray's offer piqued her interest, and she signed on with the organization. She quickly made a name for herself, but when the organization moved from paramilitary operations to outright criminal activities and piracy, she attempted to take control of the Sky Raiders. Leading a a platoon of her own troops, she boarded the Sky Raiders' sea base to seek out the Colonel himself. She finally confronted him on the sea base's massive aircraft elevator, as he was readying an airplane to make his escape. The two locked up into vicious combat, eventually engaging in a whirling knife-fight on the wing of Duray's plane.

The Warbird was every bit the skilled fighter her callsign suggested, but Duray was able to overpower her with brute force, finally ramming his combat knife into her back. A moment later, he heaved the wounded pilot off the wing and into the spinning propeller of his aircraft.

Reconstruction

Ticonderoga had suffered grave injuries at the hands of Duray, losing her right arm outright, as well as crippling damage to her legs. Both legs were amputated at the knee when an infection threatened to kill the crippled officer. She was not discouraged, however. She was eventually able to contact a surgeon who specialized in "experimental medicine". After a long series of consultations, this shady surgeon (actually a Meat Doctor normally employed by the Freakshow.) began to work.

The results were stunning. Certainly not a masterpiece, but with the addition of a bionic right arm, as well as power-assisted prosthetics for her legs and structural reinforcement of her skeleton, it was a start.

Weapons and Equipment

Warbird's primary weapon is her mind. She's sneaky, underhanded, and has studied and practiced small-unit tactics for years. She also has absolutely no conscience in a combat environment, and will kill anything that poses a credible threat. She favors automatic weapons, but also revels in using Incendiaries and explosives. Her Sky Raider equipment gives a decided advantage in ranged and distance combat.

Her main weapon is a Heckler and Koch HK416 Chambered in .458 SOCOM. It's a big round, for better effectiveness against superhuman threats. The rifle has a forty millimeter grenade launcher attached, capable of firing Flechettes (Buckshot), Fragmentation rounds (M30 Grenade), and Incendiary rounds (Flamethrower/Ignite).

Her sidearm is a Smith and Wesson model 686 revolver in .357 Magnum. She doesn't draw the wheelgun often. Usually in extremely close quarters or in situations where her rifle isn't available.

For extra-heavy applications she's acquired a Mk43 Mod 0 (M60E4) Machine gun, Her bionics making it relatively easy to lug around.

She also uses a suite of Sky Raider field generators, modified to affect local physics instead of generating force fields, reducing power consumption and enabling her to alter and control kinetic forces in her immediate area.

Hand-to-hand she's a tough customer, aggressive and brutal when she comed to grips. She's a virtuoso with her Fairburn-Sykes commando dagger, and more than one surprised superhuman has met their end on its point. Her bionic arm can also deliver a nasty punch.

The Widowmaker

Warbird frequently makes it known (Often loudly) that Arachnos Flyers are complete garbage, and aren't worthy to lift off the ground. That said, she cares for the Widowmaker like a favorite puppy. She's managed to turn a mediocre aircraft into a credible air threat, through extensive modification and tweaking. She's upgraded the engines, Fan systems, Turret software, and Weapons so far out of original spec that the craft can no longer be maintained by Arachnos personnel. In fact, very few Arachnos Engineers would be able to make heads or tails of what she's done. She's configured it as a true assault ship, using the Russian MI-24 Hind as a model.

Two laser cannon on the front turret have been replaced with 40mm Bofors guns, and the remaining two with 23mm ZSU Cannon. The side doors to the cargo area have been totally removed, and she's hung .50 Caliber machine guns from bungees, in order to provide extra cover for departing troops. Hardpoints beneath the fuselage have been mounted to accept ordnance ranging from rocket and gun pods, to napalm canisters, and even aerial torpedoes.

The Widowmaker is easily forty knots faster than any other Arachnos aircraft, although *real* fighter planes (US Navy Hornets, USAF F-15's, etc.) would find it still to be a laughable piece of dead meat hanging in the sky.

Known Associates and Adversaries

Wildcharge - The Patron Goddess of Property Damage. Warbird, though on good terms with the raging Minotaur woman, minds her manners when dealing with the likes of Wildcharge. Wild often consults Warbird on all her *technological* problems.

Colonel Virgil Duray - The leader of the Sky Raiders, Duray dealt her a grievous injury earlier in her life. He later paid in full during a raid on the Sky Raiders' sea base. Warbird left him mangled, his limbs shot off and his skull fractured in several places.

Liquid Blue - A random encounter that became a spectacular (and televised) fight. While recovering an item from a safe deposit box in Talos Island, the bank guard triggered a false alarm (Warbird did, in fact, have the safe box key, and was NOT robbing the bank.). While Warbird fought the guards, Liquid Blue entered the bank to cash a check. Thinking there was a robbery in progress she joined the fight, managing to land a solid strike on Warbird before being blown apart by a grenade. She pulled back together, of course, but not before the Warbird made her escape.
