Wildhoney is obviously inspired by Poison Ivy, but my love for bad sci-fi movies about sexy bee-girls also plays a part.

Personality

Wildhoney revels in her powers and finds great joy in using them to gratify her every whim and urge. Having been a tightly-wound "good girl" all her life she is finally allowed to, if you pardon the expression, bloom.

Powers

She protects and cares for the mutated plant and it provides the nectar that maintains her powers. It's a true symbiotic relationship, but the link goes deeper than that. She can feel what the plant feels and make it move or grow as she desires.

Plant Control

Wildhoney can control the mutated plant that she is symbiotically linked with, almost as if it was a part of her own body. The plant has several mysterious properties, all of which are not yet revealed. So far they include the power to snare and hold creatures and producing spores or sap with various interesting properties. The spores she uses the most is a powerful hallucinogen that will confuse most enemies and is likely to make them attack each other.

Thorny Assault

She is not merely a bee-girl, but part of her altered DNA comes from the plant. She can grow a small forest of nasty poisonous stinger-thorns from her skin, which she can launch at range or plunge through the heart of anyone who comes too close.

Other Powers

Wings

A recent bout of mutations has made her grow large insect wings that allows her to fly.

Metabolic Boost

The same mutations also increased the speed of her metabolism several times over. She can run and heal faster than before and doesn't run out of breath as easily.

Medicine

The nectar of her symbiotic plant has healing properties. She can heal herself or her allies through careful administration (so as not to overdose), but it's difficult to do in the heat of a battle.

Abilities

She is working on a degree in biology and has been known to dabble in unsanctioned genetic experiments, particularly the creation of hybrid creatures such as herself.

Being an insect-hybrid makes her tougher and stronger than normal humans. Part of her body, her lower arms and legs specifically, is covered with a black exo-skeleton made of the same durable material as the thorn-stingers she sprouts.

She seems to be unusually accurate with thrown objects such as thorn-stingers and hypodermic needles.

Despite her initial fears her secret identity has not been compromised.

Weaknesses and Limitations

If she doesn't drink the nectar of the plant symbiote regularly she will eventually transform back to her human form. She will lose most of her powers after a few hours without nectar and revert to human form (and lose all her powers) after about 8 hours (depending on how much nectar she has had), or faster if she's sleeping, which of course is terribly convenient since she's got to maintain her schoolgirl persona during the day. She regains her powers and bee-girl form nearly instantly after drinking a few mouthfuls of nectar. While she can eat and drink other kinds of food she really prefers the nectar.

Equipment

Hypodermic needles filled with nectar. They provide her with a reserve store of the precious fluid, and can be used to put a human to sleep if injected, such as by throwing the needle into the victim's neck. They are also used for healing purposes.

Character History

"Honey" was a student at the Cap au Diable university where she was involved in an Aeon Corp-sponsored study researching the various and interesting properties of plants collected from Bloody Bay since the Shiva event. Despite rigorous checks for any contamination a bee entered the facility along with a batch of plant specimens. The bee had gorged itself on the nectar of one particular plant and had been transformed into a larger, more aggressive creature. When Honey approached the plant to cut some samples the bee stung her. She swatted away the poor creature, but too late. It left behind its stinger with its poisonous gland pumping the irradiated bee poison into her blood. She was lucky - the bee was some distance away from her when it promptly exploded in a shower of spines and green ichor.

Honey knew that if anyone found out what had happened she would probably get locked up somewhere and tested and experimented upon for the rest of her life, so she kept quiet. She cleaned up the remains of the bee without anyone noticing, claimed she wasn't feeling well and went home. She barely made it home before falling asleep, hitting her bed fully dressed. When she awoke almost 24 hours later she had transformed into a terrible, yet strangely alluring, bee-girl.

What most people might have considered a curse or disaster seemed just fine to Honey. She didn't even think much about it but started experimenting with her new body and its strange powers right away. Perhaps it was her scientific curiosity or maybe it was just a side-effect of the poison but she didn't feel afraid or uncertain. She knew instinctively that she had to find the plant that the bee had been feeding from, so she returned to the laboratory wearing a primitive disguise.

As soon as she came within sight of the plant it started moving, as if it was a part of her. She could control it just as well as she could move her arms and legs. With the aid of the plant she easily subdued the university security guards as well as her former lab partners, and cleared out of the lab before the R.I.P or anyone else arrived to investigate. Fortunately her physiological changes were enough to fool all witnesses and nobody recognized the insect-girl as the timid biology student.

To keep her identity secret she headed for Mercy Island, knowing that she would need the protection of Arachnos to be safe from Aeon Corp. When a new group of "Chosen Ones" arrived at Darwin's Landing she mingled with the crowd and managed to convince everyone that she had in fact been sprung from prison. She has been leading a double life as student during the day and criminal in the evening ever since.

Further Adventures

Honey has gained enough favor with Arachnos to avoid the wrath of Aeon Corps, for now. This was accomplished by going to Paragon City and beat up several dozen longbow soldiers, vandalizing some statues and finally turning a hero that showed up to stop her into fertilizer. She took his cape as proof of the deed and returned to the Rogue Isles in triumph. With Aeon Corps off her back, at least temporarily, she is planning to go to Bloody Bay and look for clues; she might be able to improve the way her powers work if she can find a pure sample of the strange meteor, or other mutated plants.

Honey did in fact go to Bloody Bay and found an Evil Scientist who asked for her help in collecting meteorite samples. While she was looking for the meteorites she discovered several interesting plants but none that looked like her own. Before taking her samples back to the scientist at the Arachnos base she did some experimenting of her own and discovered that with the help of the radioactive material she could temporarily make part of her plant grow into a huge green monster that can shoot radioactive beams! That is surely going to come in handy, eventually.

After she succesfully pulled off the heist against the Sharkhead bank and got away with a significant share of the Cage Consortium payroll she was contacted by a strange man who had some interesting business proposals and a grudge against Cage, for some reason. He first sent her to collect some red coral from the slag monsters found in the Pit. She kept some for her own future experiments but managed to find enough to gain captain Petrovich's trust.
