History
Zarek was once a Demi-God, in the dark-ages. The gods sent forth a test to the mortals, trying their faith. Zarek and his brother Tristain, unfortuantly, did not know this. The two aided mankind, and in return where banished from heaven. Both brothers saw this as mankinds fault, and went on a rampage-slaughtering thousands. The two had went their seperate ways, and for thousands of years this continued.
On his way to another town, however, Zarek met a cloaked man. Without thinking, without hesitation, Zarek attacked. The man fought back however, and the two battled for three years straight. In the end, Zarek fell. The cloaked one removed his hood, showing the gentle face of a young man. This man's name was Yogomoria, an angel sent to stop Zarek and Tristain. Yogomoria, however, saw potiential in Zarek... He made Zarek an offer. "Train with me, grow stronger, and defend the humans you so hate. Redeem yourself. In return, I spare your life."
Zarek accepted, and thus begun his training under the angel Yogomoria. Thousands of years later, there was nothing more Yogomoria could teach Zarek. The two went their ways, Yogomoria to find Tristain, and Zarek to find himself a home to settle in. Many years he wandered, untill coming to a small area called Translyvania... His travels had him whitnessing many horrible disasters, but the disaster in this small Town was like none he had soon. Cursed by Werewolfs and Vampire, trapped in an ongoing war. He knew this was where he was to Fight- to free from this curse. He imedatly began working, attacking any Vampires or Lycans that attacked the town. But he was not alone, a woman simply named 'Ancient' also watched over this town. The two met one day, became friends, and quickly fell in love. It was also around this time that Vlad Dracul learned of Zarek's presence, and sent a warrior to dispose of him. That warrior was his very on brother, Tristain.
When the two fought, it was a stale mate. For what felt like eternity the two continued to fight, inbetween raids in the town. Untill finally, Tristain decided to do something different. He killed the woman Ancient, and seemed to disappear within the shadows. In despair, Zarek sent himself into his own banishment. It was 100 years later that he crawled out from a cave to the new transylvania, which was under the protection of the Vatican. They had a squard of Hunters postioned there. And even Vlad Dracul changed. He now had a daughter and a son. But his daughter was only an adopted one. The hunters, Rosa, Simon, Kael, Hazel, and Vincent became friends with Zarek quickly, allowing him to live in the tavern Hazel and Kael owned. Rosa and the Counts daughter where close friends, and she ocasionally visted Rosa. After a year of living there, Zarek finally started to assocaite with the woman. Her name was Angelia, and to Zarek, the name fit her perfectly. Amungst the battles in the town, amungst the invasions of Dracul's army, the two fell in love and married, having a child- Anora. Due to the magic nature of the Hunters, and Zarek, they where able to give immortality to Angelia, allowing Zarek and his family and friends to be together for a plus of five hundred years. But the Count was massing an amry, unhappy with his daughters engagement and friends...
The day the army came was so sudden, no hunters where ready for it- the town was fallen within seconds. Zarek and his friends fought their best, but there where too many. And then...Tristain. He had grown in power beyond what Zarek could ever imagine. To his dismay, and despite all of his efforts, Zarek had to watch as Tristain killed his family, his friends...and then he, himself, was slain. The Vatican arrived late, and the army was already gone... All they could do was bury the dead.
Awakening
Many years later... Zarek crawled from the ground, outside of the modern day Translyvania. However it was not his world, somehow he had been transported to another demension. Dracul was now Dracula, and the storys of the wars fought where now simply bed time stories... Zarek's heart ached, this place reminded him of his wife- his daughter... He couldn't stay. Eventually, he found himself in paragon city. It's much like Translyvania... Only Humans do more damage than Vampires or Lycans. He now aids Paragon City, but still longs to go home... to the Dark Forest of Translyvania... To see his wife again, to see his daughter. He still wears the engagement ring on his right hand, never parting it from him.
Currently
Zarek works as a hunter, but he believes in only hunting those who kill for game. If you're a vampire, or anything else that feeds to live- and ONLY to live- you are safe. As of now he is out of work, and is looking for anything he can get his hands on. This means Hunting, or normal mercenary work.
"Live your moments while you have them... Fate may snatch them away at any time."
"Fate is not kind...Do not let her fool you."
Adventures
Along the course of his life in Paragon, Zarek has had to overcome many battles- battles with people from his past, and some from his present. After many of the battles, Zarek has been changed. Not just emotionally, but Phsyicially aswell. Many changes were subtle, but others were...well, not so subtle.
Tristian Nightwood
Tristian Nightwood, as stated above, is Zarek's brother. The two were mortal enemies, and fought constatly. However the battle recently escalated. Tristian threatened Theresa, who at the time was Zarek's lover, and was well on his way to making through on the threat. Unknown to all but Zarek, Tristian had amased power beyond what anyone thought, and could've destroyed Theresa with the snap of his fingers. Zarek was determined to stop Tristian, and in a desolate area unknown to all still, the two fought. In the end both men died, but Tristian still wasn't done with Zarek. While Zarek's soul was going through the annoying 'paperwork' of the after life, Tristian's soul entered Zarek's body and took control of it. If Zarek had been able to return his soul to his body, he would've lived and defeated Tristian for good. But sadly, it was not the case. While Tristian had control over Zarek's body, he proceeded to sabotage Zarek's life. Starting with his friends. In the end, Tristian had Theresa's father, Labal, kill Zarek's body. For good... or...so everyone, including Tristian, thought. Zarek made a deal with the Gods of his world and was brought back- changed. He was now a Werepyre- half werewolf, half vampire. However when Zarek went to confront Tristian things had changed...
Wishmaster
There was a being in Zarek's world called The Wishmaster. He is a Lord of Purgatory, collecting souls that get stuck inbetween, and turning them into monsters udner his control. In Zarek's world, and possibly in Paragon's world, he was the strongest being alive. Zarek had met Wishmaster in battle once, and the only reason he was able to win was because of four peices of armor, that when combined, made up a type of Void Armor called the Shadow Armor. The Shadow Armor enhances the wearers strenght, speed, and stamina. With it, Zarek defeated Wishmaster the first time. But the armor was destroyed after the battle because of its evil. When Tristian told Zarek that Wishmaster had escaped Purgatory again with his army of Monsters, their squabble had to end. Tristian and Zarek prepared for a war, and together sought a way to defeat Wishmaster. They had been close to finding what they needed when Wishmaster did something unexpected- he brought the two back to their home world. There, Wishmaster had taken control of the earth, and ruled with a heavy hammer. While there Zarek and Tristian engaged in a long battle. In the end, Tristian had been slain by Wishmaster and was added to his army. Zarek had to flee, and for days Zarek hid. It was by pure luck that he found something that was suppose to never exsist. Another set of the Shadow Armor. With the armor, Zarek confronted Wishmaster again. And won. It took Zarek months to find a way back to his world. As a result of his worlds magic and Paragon's magic, two things happened. First off, Zarek's eyes, which only ocasionally had a glow to them, started to perminatly glow. Secondly, the Shadow Armor, or Void Armor as Zarek now refers to it, lost all of its properties of power. Zarek ended up coating the armor with a layer of Void energy which continously refills its self, causing anyone who cuts into the armor to be sprayed with Void energy.
Angelia Von'Bur
Zarek's parents are Dyne Alexander and Lucra Alexander. Dyne is a God, and Lucra is a Demi-God. When Zarek was banished from the heavens, the two had to cut all connections with their son. But they always kept a watchful eye on him, not being able to completly abandon their son. Once Zarek had returned to Paragon, a woman anmed Angelia Von'Bur approached Zarek, claiming- of all things- that she was Zareks mother, not Lucra. Zarek did not believe her, of course, however what happened after that made Zarek have doubts. Angelia was attacked by Angels of Zarek's world. But they were easly defeated. Angelia held the power of a god, and fended off every attack from the Angels. During one attack, an Angel was captured and forced to tell why they attacked. His words were "Von'Bur must not tell Zarek! He must not know!". That moment made Zarek's life change. Unknown to Zarek however, he angels were not loyal to the heavens, and were under Angelia's control. She needed Zarek's loyalty and this was the only way she could get it. She explained to Zarek how the gods had been corrupted and needed to be cleansed. So once again, Zarek headed back to his world- along with Angelia. A war occured between the heavens, and Angelia's own army that she had amassed. It was when Zarek met his own father in battle that things became clear. His father would not fight back, and Zarek realised the error of his ways. Angered, Zarek lashed out against Angelia and caught her off guard. In one blow, Zarek slew Angelia. Because of Zarek's deeds following the slaying of Angelia, Zarek was given an Angelic status. Returning Paragon's world again, Zarek attempted to recover from what was once his life...
The Vatican
Zarek returned to Paragon, and attmpted to rekindle the relationship he once had with Theresa. Unfortunatly for Zarek, the world was not done with him. When Zarek had first came to this world, the Vatican took him in and showed him the workings of this world. They also bound him to a contract, using his expertise for hunting Supernatural creatures. Once Zarek had completed the contract, he had moved to Paragon. And now they were calling on him again, but he refused to answer. They threatened Theresa, and Zarek was once again forced to take Action. The Vatican sent an agent by the name of Furion, an Elf, to attack Theresa. He could have killed her, if not for Zarek knowing when and were Furion were to attack. Zarek slew Furion before he could attack, then took the fight to the Vatican itself. He spent hours fighting Agents of the Vatican, untill they finally gave way and promised they would leave him be. But it was too late for Zarek. Unfortunatly for Zarek... it was too late for him and Theresa.
