Appearance
A relatively small sailing vessel of unique design and intricate work. The ship is always accompanied by fog which, while not completely obscuring vision, does make the ship hard to spot at a distance. The ship is constructed from a strange, dark wood, and the metalwork is similar to dull brass. Both wood and metal are extremely hard, and a scintillating green color can occasionally be seen. The entire ship is infused with ectoplasmic properties; it is unknown if this is a quality of the materials it was constructed from, or a later event that affected the ship.
Power
The Abyssal Gale is a semi-sentient ship; the ship's origins are unknown, as are the details behind how it gained (or was granted) sentience. It has "bonded" with Azhir the Mad, and is capable of performing all necessary tasks by itself (everything from raising/lowering sails to stowing cargo to controlling the wheel/rudder). The ship has no other crew beside Azahir, and as such has plenty of room for passengers and/or cargo.
Most notable is the ship's ability to "warp" space slightly as it sails, making travel take much less time than usual. The ship's top speed is not known, as the ever-present fog makes it difficult to see at a distance. It is also unknown whether the ship is capable of warping through time, as well.
The ship's full capabilities in combat have not been seen, though some light skirmishes have been seen. The Gale is equipped with cannon that launch ectoplasmic projectiles. While these can damage conventional vessels, they are vastly more effective against supernatural threats. There are tales that the Abyssal Gale has assaulted other ghost ships and "absorbed" their ectoplasmic essence once they were sufficiently disintegrated. It is unknown if this is necessary to maintain the Gale (perhaps as a fuel source), or if there was another motive behind such actions.
History
The history of the ship is largely unknown; there are other documented cases of ghost ships (cf. Moraine). The ship has been seen in the Caribbean and around the Rogue Isles, though confirmed sightings are highly irregular.
The Abyssal Gale is captained by Azhir the Mad, former First Mate of Black Jack Rackham. Azhir now ranks as Captain, and after being freed from the island of Barbados serves Jack once more.
