Beginnings
Faced with passing on the HIV Virus to her unborn son, Erica Eison made the choice to undergo an experimental procedure to spare him of that life. An association going only by the name "Project AMP" took Erica Eison in and introduced Advanced Metabolic Performance Cells into her immune system. The cells were said to improve the immune system of the recipient, but were actually genetically engineered cells designed to enhance a human being on the cellular level. The cells proved to be a success, creating an amazingly strong immune system for the unborn child. Unfortunately, unpredicted complications caused Erica to develop ovarion cancer. Born Eric Eison at St. John's Riverside Hospital, Erica hoped that her son would lead a normal life. Unknown to both mother and child, the A.M.P Cells replicated and replaced every cell in Eric's body by the time of his 13th birthday. The Cells gave him the passive ability of soaking up all energy around him, and eventually led to his discovery of "Energy Anchoring." Energy Anchoring is the ability to harness raw energy into one location and "anchor" it into a physical form for exertion. Though he was apprehensive about his abilities at first, his mother's death eventually influenced him to become a hero. After discovering her cancer was caused by the procedure she underwent to give him a better life, he decided he would honor her memory by honing these abilities to serve a higher purpose. A Good purpose. From then on, he took on the mantle, "The Amphitrion", though it is still unknown why he picked this name. Leaving his home in New York at the age of 17, he moved to Paragon City to start his new life as a hero.
Evolution
Still not completely in control of his abilities, Amphitrion enrolled in Evolution-X, the academy for mutants. There, he trained under headmaster Jared Smith A.K.A Metal Smith as a member of their mutant taskforce. He trained alongside great mutants like Steelo, Alpha Phoenix, Wintertide, Indulge, Attache' and Phyre Pixie, learning all he could from them and taking lessons from the school that would last him a lifetime. Though he was immature and brash, he had the heart of a hero. He would learn in time that the powers do not make the hero. Eventually, it came time to part ways with Evolution-X at age 18, joining up with the God's of the Golden Age at the age of 20 years old. Amphitrion's activities between the ages of 18 and 20 are still unknown.
The Golden Age
Accepted into the ranks of the GGA, he donned a new suit and brought a new attitude to the Golden Age Heroes, always hyper and willing to help out. He fought alongside the GGA for the next year and a half, having the privelage to work with such heroes as Mr. Virtuous, Flambelle, Hauntress, Liberty Eagle, Blitzkrieg, Eternal Seraph, and MANY more amazing heroes. While he learned how to control his powers in Evolution-X, the God's of the Golden Age are the one's that taught him what it means to be a true hero. Imbued with valor, courage, and a more mature outlook, Amphitrion grew as a person and as a Hero, finally becoming the man that his mother had hoped he would always be. It was in this timeframe that Amphitrion met his best friend and fellow speedster, Volo. At the time, Volo was young and inexperienced, but had the potential to be the greatest speedster in Paragon. Amphitrion, feeling the energy that flowed through him and seeing a man within that he could become, decided he would mentor Volo. Teaching him to tap into an unseen field of energy, codenamed: "The AMP Field" by Volo, Volo learned to surpass the physical limitations of his own body and of the world around him, teaching him to access a form of speed that transcended the normal plane of existence. Volo eventually became the fastest man in Paragon at one point, even beating his mentor Amphitrion. Amphitrion was proud to have lost to Volo, seeing a great hero in him. They've been friends since their very first race.
Out of Sight and Out of Time
As two of the most acclaimed speedsters in Paragon, Amphitrion and Volo were recruited by Portal Corps. to investigate a dimension that was identified as the "AMP Field" that Volo and Amphitrion were capable of tapping into. The Field was actually a constantly dimensional-shifting world, moving so fast that it was near impossible to reach. Portal Corps. managed to force open a gate. Amphitrion and Volo took on the assignment, entering the world and becoming the first two meta-humans to ever set foot within the AMP Field. Unfortunatley, after several minutes of exploration, the portal became unstable, beginning to collapse in on itself and threatening to trap the two speedsters inside. The world was inhabited by creatures composed of its own energies, attempting to forcefully absorb Amphitrion and Volo. Amphitrion managed to stave off their attack by absorbing them first, but even he had his limits. He launched Volo through the collapsing gate and fought the creatures to buy him time, Volo barely making it out and the gate closing behind him. This was the last anyone ever saw Amphitrion.
The Return
Found in the Zig, a mysterious figure without a name or any idea of where he'd been or how he got there surfaced when Lord Recluse had him carried out of the Zig during a prison riot. Dropped in Mercy Island, he wandered the coast for several days before finally passing out from what seemed like exhaustion. He eventually awoke from his slumber, but he was no longer in the Rogue Isles. He was in Pocket D. Over the course of the next few weeks, he would repeadidly pass out and wake up in various parts of the Rogue Isles, Pocket D and Paragon, though he could come up with no explaination as to why. The figure found that when he was around other beings whose abilities revolved around energy, he'd accidentally mimic them if he stood too close. This proved dangerous and confusing at times.
Eventually, fate would allow him to find his path again, triggering a meeting between both the devil, Norman Morningstar, and an old friend from the GGA, High Tower. Though the two conflicted, both presented the chance for this man of mystery to regain his life. Secretly taking Norman up on a bargain, he retrieved a hellgate for the devil in exchange for his memories. In a cruel trick, Norman only restored his worst memories. Luckily, this did restore a good portion of his identity..but it was not the one he knew long ago. He remembered a life very much different from Eric Eison..and he remembered his name as John.
High Tower attempted to help him rediscover who he was as Eric Eison, The Amphitrion. Working with the Pretender, they used magic to inhibit his powers while they looked for more answers. Eventually, however, his powers would grow strong again, inadvertantly teleporting him back to the Rogue Isles. This revealed his mysterious means of travel in his sleep. Now equipped with some measure of memories and a small degree of power control, he began a search for Norman Morningstar to exact revenge for his trickery.
"Patriotism"
During a visit to City Hall, John was once again greeted by Fate. He bumped into a girl named Jasmine, ensuing a conversation after acquiring a list of heroes he requested for his goals. Drawing too close to her, he synced up with her Psionic energies, mentally linking the two together. This caused her a mental tremor, suddenly bringing her to the realization that she knew John as Eric Eison. She claimed they had met when he was 18 years old and they had worked together in a group called "The Patriot Project." John could recall nothing, claiming his name wasn't Eric. Jasmine would share her memories with him, revealing that a younger version of himself DID go by the name of Eric and was part of this group. Her telepathic powers proved quite effective, managing to convince John that perhaps he wasn't who he thought he was. After pulling a memory back inadvertantly, John decided that he wanted Jasmine to recover his memories for him. This proved to be a moral and ethical dilemma, but still deciding to go through with it in part due to her emotional attachment. Now at what could be the turning, John awaits his memory restoration, Jasmine possibly holding the answers to his past and the key to his future.
MIA
Before memory restoration could be attempted, a lead in Amphitrion's search brought his quest for truth to an abrupt halt. Accompanied by Jasmine (AKA: Luna Red), the two headed to Portal Corp. to meet up with Dr. Korkrin, a head scientist at the corporation. Unfortunately, when they came at the time designated, all that was left was a charred carcus and the blame falling on Amphitrion. Video surveillance caught him on tape committing the series of murders. Now on the defensive, Amphitrion used his powers to escape from the facility, leaving Luna Behind. Luna eventually discovered that it was not Amphitrion, but a mimic that had taken on his form and framed him. A quick trip through time for Amphitrion soon allowed him to discover he had to save Luna's life, teleporting back to Portal Corp. and facing off against this mysterious mimic. While the mimic displayed powers very similar to Amphitrion, he managed to incapacitate his foe, though the villain made a quick escape thereafter. Realizing the dangers he was putting Luna in, he decided to give her a proper goodbye before disappearing. He is still wanted by the PPD and is still missing.
