History
Next to nothing is known about Anathemind's life before assimilation into the Rikti. It is unclear as to whether he doesn't remember much of his previous life, or simply doesn't see it as important. If he does know, he certainly isn't telling. (Indeed, it isn't even certain that he was originally a "he".)
It seems likely that Anathemind was one of the many Paragon citizens whose homes were destroyed in the Rikti invasion, forcing them out onto the streets. Like many of these homeless citizens, Anathemind was inducted into the Lost and infected with the Rikti transformation virus. Anathemind (it was at this point where he started using that name) proved a willing and able servant of the Lost and swiftly rose through the ranks, eventually reaching Pariah status.
When the cure for the Lost virus was created, Anathemind was among the many subjected to the cure. However, unlike most of the rescued humans, Anathemind liked being tranformed. He grew to resent the heroes who "cured" him. Leaving Paragon City for the Rogue Isles, he made contact with a group of Lost and was able to regain his Rikti form, along with the mental powers he'd grown so accustomed to.
Associates
It soon became clear that the Lost were not nearly as organized as before. If Anathemind was to survive as a villain, he needed to seek out allies. Anathemind was able to cultivate professional relationships with several organizations. It was through mutual contacts among the Goldbrickers that Anathemind met Doc Surprise, a mad scientist in league with the Shadowbolts - a mysterious society of extra-dimensional invaders and their Primal Earth sympathizers. Surprise offered Anath protection from the heroes seeking to "cure" him, in exchange for the services of his potent mentalism.
Anathemind is known through Port Oakes and Cap Au Diable for his professionalism and efficiency. He has made many enemies among Longbow and the Legacy Chain, the latter of which is somewhat troubling, due to the Rikti weakness to magic. As a former Pariah, Anathemind retains many old friends within the Lost.
