Origin
Andromeda Chalk was a gifted teenager who began earning PH.Ds before she learned how to drive. Her potential seemed limitless until she was kidnapped by a man claiming to represent an elite school for the gifted. For months, she was tortured and brainwashed into becoming a mindless living weapon. As part of her training, special state of the art implants were placed in her brain to convert her mental energy into psychic power. Eventually, her powers grew beyond the control of her captors, and she escaped.
Unfortunately, the psychological damage had largely been done. Her mental state regressed significantly, turning the confident, beautiful girl into a stuttering recluse. Still a very gifted engineer, she spends her days building battlesuits and making upgrades to the implants she was given to convert her mental energy into psychic powers. She spends her nights sleeping on a borrowed cot in the Pocket D supply room.
After the Escape
The first thing Andromeda remembered was running. She knew that if she didn't run far enough or fast enough, bad people would catch her. She knew she wasn't alone, even inside her own head--voices constantly spoke to her, telling her to do awful things. After days of running and spending her nights sleeping in alleyways, she followed a man with a cape into a strange nightclub. Waiting until both the man and the bouncer were preoccupied, she snuck past them and entered the club.
For the next several weeks, she hid in the shadows of the club, sleeping in a supply closet and eating from the dumpsters. Eventually, she was found by a goddess named Serem and adopted, but Serem's abusive nature lead her to follow the worst advice that the voices in her head gave her. In short order, she became a murderer in order to please her adopted mother. After suffering a complete mental breakdown, she mysteriously disappeared.
Ouroboros
For the next ten years, Andromeda was nursed back to health in Ouroborus by a group of menders. Her implants were upgraded and adjusted to prevent the horrible voices in her head from returning, and she was taught to use her psychic powers to defend herself. When the menders deemed her ready to return, then sent her back to Paragon. No explanation was ever given for the menders interest in her.
Return to Paragon
When the menders allowed her to return to Paragon, ten years had passed for her. However, only several months had passed on Earth. Andromeda's adopted parents were shocked to discover she had aged ten years. Even more surprising was Andromeda's discovery that her adopted mother had been under a curse, and that curse had now been lifted. The abusive stepmother was now gone, replaced by a more loving, caring version of herself.
Personality
After years of therapy and the love of a number of good friends, Andromeda has become much less afraid of people in general. However, she sometimes becomes overwhelmed by crowds, and does her best to prevent drawing attention to herself whenever possible.
