Personality
Anola is upbeat and personable. She is not ashamed of the things that make her look different from other humans.
Powers
Spines
Anola's body is normally covered with soft scales. When threatened, or in aggressive mode, these scales harden into spines and plates that she uses as weapons. Her tail can be particularly lethal when she jumps, flips and whips it into a mob of enemies.
She can also produce numerous tiny, thorn-like projections that she can constantly expel from her body. In combat she uses these to annoy foes. These tiny thorns are sharp and hard enough to pierce almost any skin or armor, and can even work their way into mechanical constructs, severing wires, lines, and hoses.
Reptilian Super-regeneration
Anola has regenerative powers far beyond even those of reptiles. Cuts and bruises heal almost instantaneously. Physical impacts can weaken her only for a moment or two before she recovers. Even internal injuries merely slow her down. The only type of injury that can fully incapacitate her is a concussion, which can render her unconscious. It would take an overwhelming, catastrophic-level force to kill her.
Abilities
Aside from her spines and regeneration, Anola is also very athletic and acrobatic. Like her namesake, an anole, she can change her body's pigmentation to blend in with her surroundings, making her difficult to see if she remains still.
Weaknesses and Limitations
A few times during the year (usually associated with seasonal changes) Anola molts and, if not for her green skin pigmentation, would be indistinguishable from a normal girl. Medical experts and researchers who have examined her case have their speculations as to why this happens, but so far nothing has been confirmed.
Anola is sensitive to certain chemical contaminates which can cause a spontaneous molting. Unlike the periodic molting she usually does, this spontaneous molting makes her extremely weak and lowers her resistance to dangerous levels.
Character History
When Anola was born, her mother took one look at her green skin and tail, and said, "Oh, my! Look at my cute little anole!" Her father didn't share that sentiment and left the family before the mother and baby were discharged from the hospital.
Anola was raised with two older brothers, and when her mother remarried, a younger brother. Her step-father, Dennis Tethers, passed away when Anola was still in middle-school and the family was devasted for months.
It was during the middle-school years that her school-friends and classmates began to treat Anola differently. In elementary school, her mutation and powers were considered "cool" but as she entered adolescence, her peers began to see her as a freak. By high school, even her closest friends began to treat her differently and Anola felt like she could no longer fit in. Her mother decided to send her to Paragon City where everyone is different.
Anola has made several friends in the city, among them Trey Mercer, aka Tarosvan, aka Seven, aka the Chariot. Anola thinks he looks hot and finds his aloof manner attractive. She would love to have him for a new step-father.
