Antaeus of Cocytus: Ice/Ice Dominator
Current Character Summary:
Antaeus is currently broken into fragments, one of which was recently found and brought to the plain of the living by Labal the Ashen King of Lies (http://www.virtueverse.com/index.php/Labal) and his coup during their quest to recover their fallen ally Krosun (http://www.virtueverse.com/index.php/Krosun).
Thankful for his freedom; Antaeus pledged his loyalty to the ash demon. In a world that had changed from that of which he had known, the once brutal giant that guided countless warlords now works to adapt to the new world about him. Those who come to meet him will probably learn fairly quickly that he is a fish out of water in the new world. Often things that others find unimpressive gain his fixation. Conversation will also provide you with his ideals often encompassing a passion for the warrior spirit and the glories of war.
Antaeus tends to be crude at times, and recants often of his glory days. He also often informs others of his desire to join with the other fragments of his being; doing so would increase his size and strength. (For roleplay reasons and technical reasons it is stated that the character is only a fragment of his true self. The true full sized Antaeus would be the average size of a medium office building in Paragon city. This also explains the limitations of his abilities.)
Antaeus being made from the Onyx waters of the lake of Cocytus benefits from hellish elemental abilities. A frost demon in every essence, there is only one difference between Antaeus and the lesser who roam the 7th and 8th circles of hell. A frost demon is normally susceptible to elemental fire, however this is not the case for the waters of Cocytus. Fire does not affect the onyx ice for unknown reasons. However, Bale fire does affect it and causes it to boil and light ablaze. Also as a side note, due too the fact that Antaeus is not a demon descended from an angel, holy items have a far more severe affect upon him.

Source Material for Character
The following is the mythological recant summarized from the Divine Comedy Canto XXXI. It explains the meeting of the ice giants and their plight.
"The poets climb to the top of the stony chasm that ends the eighth circle and they begin their approach to the ninth and final circle, which is a great, dark pit filled with ice and cold, strong winds caused by Lucifer beating his wings. Dante thinks that he sees a city with many towers in the distance, but Virgil tells him that his eyes deceive him. The towers are actually the Giants, plugged into the center of the well up to their waists. Indeed, as they grow closer, Dante sees the Giants clearly, and at close range, Dante says that Nature was wise to discontinue the creation of these monsters. One of the Giants is Nimrod, builder of the tower of Babel, and he speaks in a nonsense tongue. Virgil reprimands Nimrod, calling him stupid and telling him that his horn is around his neck. Nimrod is condemned to babble through eternity, not understanding and not being understood.
The second Giant the poets encounter is Ephialtes, who endeavored with the other Giants to war against the gods. Ephialtes is bound with a chain five times around his body, and Dante wonders who could have had the strength to bind the Giant. Ephialtes begins to rock back and forth, causing the ground to tremble and scaring Dante.
The third Giant they meet is Antaeus, and Virgil praises him for his deeds and strength on Earth and with this flattery, gains passage on Antaeus’ palm down to the bottom of the pit, the final circle of Hell, Cocytus. Dante is terrified that the Giant will harm him, but Antaeus gently places the poets on the bottom of the final hole.
The third Giant, Antaeus, is there for the many murders he committed; he should be in another circle, but suffers with the other Giants merely because of his nature as a Giant. Antaeus is the son of Neptune (the sea) and Tellus (the Earth) and was invincible, as long as he touched the Earth, his mother. Hercules killed him by holding him over his head and strangling him in mid-air. He is unchained because he did not join the other Giants against the gods. Here, again, the sinner with the worse sin is punished more harshly.

The Following is a source reference to the tale of Antaeus becoming a non-angelic demon.
The ice about the dark one would recoil in agony, calling out in icy screams as wings that once flapped madly lay still. The feasting lord would be hunched over, three heads dormant as the screams of betrayers silenced. The lake of onyx ice would shift and cry out, as cracks would form and the ice would shatter. Lucifer's prison would separate at the waist. However this would only last so long before the levels above him spread open like clouds in the heavens, light shining down upon the dark lord. His cries would echo through the many levels of hell as the lord looked down upon him causing him to stir once more.
The three towers, giants who were great betrayers of god would fall into the half thawed onyx waters being bathed in the wash of the corrupter. Gasping and fighting they would be rolled and riled as they struggled to escape the waters before they froze once more under that tremendous cold of the wings of the dark lord. Nimrod the Lord of Babel would fall deep under the waters breathing in the onyx water as he screamed madly under its waves. Ephialtes would be bound, chains lynched about him so tight that he would only drift lower without his limbs to offer aid. Antaeus would swim free of the waters, unbound and strong he would climb upon the great shelf that he was once confined. Free from the waters, he would try to move fourth, however as the lights of the lord shined down upon him every step he made was against gods will. So he was cast down after his tread up from the ninth circle, his flesh turned to the onyx ice of Cocytus, his body shattered and spread upon the shelf that he and the other towers once stood. He was fallen, a demon not of angelic descent but of the corrupted waters of the frozen prison.
