Growing up in the squalid districts of Nicosia, Cyprus, Kyrillos "Cyril" Achilleus Vlastos was a street vigilante, armed with nothing more than his bare hands and deep sense of justice, to make up for the lack of imparital law enforcement. Fighting both a gangs and corrupt police, he was finally jailed by superheroes following his vendetta-style assassination of the crime lord who set his bounty.
While incarcerated, Cyril was given the "offer that cannot be refused" by the Marcone, only to be (and not to his surprise) double-crossed-- someone as strong willed as him to make the ideal test dummy for neural control. Instead of nullifying his mind, the exposures accelerated Cyril's metacognition and inadvertently provided him with a crash course in psychokinetic conditioning.
Fleeing to America, he took up the alter-ego 'Apophasis'-- a 'hero', in its original sense, committed to defying superheroic corruption and the thoughtless adherence to moral norms.
