Arrelin Windspire
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
Rel is a creation of Relwynd and is more or less original with part of his story and history having basis in the game he is being played in. He is by far the most fun character I have role-played in an MMO to date.
More to come as it happens!

Personality
Arrelin is a very passionate and, at times, intense man. Until recently he has lived very much with his "heart on his sleeve" and this has caused him more problems than he has bargained for. He is constantly striving to help people and to ameliorate their problems in any way he can which has led some people to call him controlling but he only has their best interests in mind.
Abilities
Arrelin has no inherent "super" powers but is at near peak physical development from millenia of excercise and conditioning. In addition he has a very high tolerance for pain from his condition and from many years of meditative study. Arrelin has a near inhuman knowledge of combat that comes from studying, and participating in, combat for over 36 millenia. That, coupled with a lifetime of practice in motion and energy conservation, have given him an almost liquid quality to his movements, everything is a calculated move to minimize expenditure giving him incredible stamina and endurance
The majority of his power comes from the magical knowledge given to him by Tielekku, Goddess of Magic, when she took him to be her Hunter. He has refined his control over it throughout history and has become an increasingly tough and skilled combat mage.
The Branding
When Arrelin, then known as Ar'Elkhan, was 24 he saw his sister and her mentor performing what looked to be a dark ritual one night. It was confirmed when a portal was ripped open and a large demon came through.
Untrained in the ways of magic but not in combat, Ar'Elkhan reacted instinctively, charging into the tent and killing the mentor in one smooth motion. Without the binding spells in place the deomon quickly broke free.
Elkhan's sister, La'Enearae, quickly supplicated herself, begging the great demon for clemency and the honor of working for the demon's dark master. Elkhan would have none of it and challenged the demon to single combat. Before doing so the demon channeled the power of it's master and Branded them both. Enearae was given a dark blessing, to never know infirmity and to live until the demon, The Burning One, came to this world to destroy it. She was to be his servant in this world.
Elkhan, on the other hand, was damned for an eternity for his insolence and transgressions. He was to live forever but never heal fully from his wounds, to slowly ruin himself before The Burning One came to snuff out his life personally. After that he was gutted and left within the tent to begin a life of torment, compounded by the loss of his sister to the Dark powers.
The Hunter
Ar'Elkhan was taken by Tielekku after he was branded to become her Hunter. She had sworn not to interfere personally in the affairs of mortals, but decided she could use an implacable agent to do what she deemed as necessary. She healed him but left the brand in place, weaving powerful protection spells about it so as to keep it as harmless as possible. After this she placed within Elkhan the knowledge of magic that she had learned, awakening in him his latent magical potential.
SPOILER! She also created The Hunter, a portion of his primal nature and honed it to an exceptionally dangerous weapon. She stripped it of all emotion save obediance to the Hunt and basic feral instinct. She also, at the insistence of her Avatar, instilled several unbreakable guidelines: 1. None are to be harmed that are not of the Hunt. 2. Protect the innocent from harm above all else from those who are the Hunted. 3. The Will of the Goddess is inviolate when the Hunt is called.
Other guidelines can be set when the Hunt is called as Tielekku wishes. Over the years she has subtly guided Elkhan to places where she wished her Will enforced and would then call the Hunt. Once the task was complete she would move him elsewhere. He cannot remember what he does as the Hunter, those experiences are locked away with it until it is called once again. As of late Rel has felt an increasing buzzing in the back of his mind, the whispers of the Goddess grow insistent.
Incognitus and the Legion
Rel was approached by Vernet Starsmore, a name given to him by another during Rel's time in Tibet, and asked to join an organization called Incognitus. Rel was apprehensive with working for and with others, given his nature and not wishing to be responsible for the pain others may feel, but accepted the offer to help found the Paragon City branch of the organization.
Most recently Rel was invited, and later inducted into the Legion, a grouping of some of the greatest heroes in Paragon City. He is incredibly honored to have been asked and strives to uphold their faith in him.
Allies and Enemies
One of Rel's closest friends and confidant, he has a deep love and respect for her and will do anything to help her accomplish her goals, regardless of the personal cost.
Lotos Rose
Another of Rel's close friends whom he would do anything for; Rel frequently will go to him for technical advise or for another opinion on an important matter.
A newer friend whom Rel has come to trust with his secrets, he is a good friend with a quick wit that forces Rel to sprint to keep up with him.
