Early Life
Robert Fitzroy was born in London, England sometime in the mid-19th century to wealthy parents. Both mother and father were extremely shrewd business people, and much of the family fortune was amassed by illegal means, with legit business serving as a mask for the more nefarious practices. Unlike most wealthy children his age, Robert was never handed anything in his childhood. While other children like him were served everything in life, Robert's parents taught him that he must work like them to get anywhere in life. The only thing they ever gave him was knowledge on business practice. Which he used greatly. Almost since Robert could walk and hold a tool in his hand did he work. And with hard work he quickly earned the trust of people. Reaching management positions and climbing the social ladder with ease, he had a knack for getting away with almost anything. This came to a climax on his 18th birthday, when his parents were "mysteriously murdered". With their deaths came all that they owned, and everything was inherited by Robert. Under his guidance he began forming guilds and corporations over London. But it wasn't enough. Even with all his success, he desired more. Along with some of the most powerful and intelligent noble-men in England, Fitzroy began planning the ultimate way to play god. In order to occupy his own boredom and fill his coffers, him and these other men began a profit from war economy. Arms deals and paying rebels to cause upheaval, spreading propaganda and putting politicians into power were regular occurrences in his 'business life.' Until the American Civil War. After causing much sway in the south to annex from the United States, Robert sat back and let the money roll in. But he had made a fatal error. With his success came jealousy. Envious of his work, the other men came together and devised a way to do him in. Paying off one of Fitzroy's gun-runners, the traitor led Robert into a would be war-zone. Forces from the North and South quickly closed on around them. With nowhere else to run, Robert attacked his assailant with vicious force, getting shot in the process but managing to beat the attacker to death. With his physical strength ebbing and battle all around him, he realized that he had lost for the first and last time in his life. With his body inching towards death, Robert let out what can only be described as a "psychic wail" as he lay dying in a trench. With everything that he ever felt let out, he slipped into darkness. And awoke into the light.
Encountering the Kheldian
After that fateful encounter on the battle-field, Robert was sure he was dead. But he had the strangest sense he was alive. Unsure what kind of state he was in, he wandered around aimlessly on foot through the American countryside. After what was most likely days, he realized that he had somehow survived. Confused as to why he was still living and how he had escaped the battlefield, he wandered into a barn on the Southern countryside and reflected on what had transpired. Then he heard another talking. Looking inside himself he felt different, and upon further meditation he heard the voice calling to him again. Listening, he realized the shocking truth. The voice was inside his head, his body, and called itself Aphelion. It told Robert that it was a Kheldian, an alien being of energy. And that it had saved Robert's life. When looking for a host on Earth, Aphelion sought out a human with a strong spirit to aid the Peacebringers war agaist the Nicti. And when it heard Robert cry out his frustrations at his inability to save himself, it sensed his strong will to win and survive. So it bonded with him and carried him away from the fight. Robert hadn't died of injury or hunger because the Kheldian was sustaining him off it's raw energy. But it hadn't realized one hong about it's human host.
Bonding with the Kheldian
While the alien had indeed sensed Robert's strong spirit, it could not sense his evil heart. While the Kheldian was noble and good-willed, Robert was cunning and cold. The two had vastly different personalities, and the bonding process to form a Peacebringer would be long and ardous. While most Kheldian's bond over weeks, months, or even instantly, the two spent years coping with each other. It wasn't until sometime into the 20th century that the two personalities finally bled together into one. Each of the halves had vied for dominance, until a middle ground formed. They were finally a true Peacebringer.
Present
Coming to Paragon
After the turmoil that was the bonding process between Aphelion and Robert Fitzroy, the virtues of the Kheldian half eventual caused the Peacebringer that Robert became to feel remorse over his doings in the past. As such, over the next several decades, Robert devoted his time to working in the shadows under various businesses and corporations. All legal business now. After spending much time working and amassing funds in various places all over the world, he was content with spending his money on charity, as planned. But that changed during the Rikti invasion. In the wake of the invasion, Robert realized that simply spending money to help people wasn't the best course of action. So the Peacebringer decided that he must use his abilities to a greater extent, as he also predicted the coming of the Nictus soon after the Rikti invasion.
