Personality
Absolutely fearless, Badb started out as a carefree, enthusiastic superheroine... and has mostly stayed that way. She tries to keep up appearances, after all. But as the stakes and her security level have risen, she's become obsessive--she's never out of costume lately, and sometimes she seems more interested in the fighting for its own sake than the stated mission goals--or she forgets what the mission was in the first place. When solo, she tends to be quiet and brooding, intent on the task at hand. On a team, she's usually too busy kicking people to banter during combat, but enjoys joking around during the lulls in the action.
Powers
Badb is a reckless fury in unarmed combat, specializing in rapid attacks that leave fear and chaos in her wake, and trusting her resilience to see her through the battle.
Martial Arts & Fighting
While she has had little formal training, Badb showed an instinctive ferocity and her technique improved at an uncanny rate. For a time she made a special effort to seek out villains with advanced personal combat skills, but more recently she seems to feel she has learned all they can teach her. She favors kicks to take advantage of their greater force and her heavy boots, but isn't above throwing a punch if she's given an opening.
Regeneration
Badb seems to be able to heal herself through an act of will. Not a biological process or example of magically or technologically enhanced healing, injuries done to her simply vanish as if she'd never been hurt. More puzzling, she has on some occasions shaken off blows that--according to her emergency medical transponder--should have rendered her instantly unconscious if not killed her outright. This regeneration effect even seems to extend to her costume and personal effects.
Speed
Badb has demonstrated the ability to move at super-human speeds, though without evidence of extreme friction or other common side-effects of such powers. Sensor telemetry of her is often fragmented by tiny 'gaps' as if data had been sliced out of the record. Interestingly, it's always what Badb considers the 'boring' bits that are missing. Every blow struck, every obstacle avoided is there. It's moments between that disappear.
Presence, Darkness
Badb uses her reputation for violence and her reckless ferocity to frighten her foes. There may be something more to it than that; some of her contacts are uneasy around her and seem to send her on missions in the most remote possible locations at every opportunity. Villains she's arrested report Badb's eyes glow when she's angry. Shadows deepen around her, and at times she uses them as a weapon to strike at foes beyond the reach of her boots.
Abilities
Whatever the source of her powers may be, it seems to protect itself from scrutiny. Data files concerning her civilian identity have been lost in a statistically unlikely series of accidents. Security footage of her in combat is missing crucial frames or can't be enhanced. Blood samples get lost or contaminated. Even her fingerprints don't seem to be constant.
Weaknesses and Limitations
Power has its price, and in Badb's case, that price is her life. As her combat skills have improved, she's developed a beserker mindset in combat and a loss of interest in everything else. She spends most of her time in costume, and her memory seems to be falling apart, approaching the level of retrograde amnesia. Nobody has reported her missing, and her civilian identity is unknown; she claims she doesn't remember. The memory loss seems to be tied to the more extreme uses of her powers, especially the 'regeneration' ability. If there's one mercy to her condition, it is her sanguine accepetance of it. She is more interested in who she is becoming than who she used to be.
Equipment
Badb uses various heavy-duty boots to give her kicks a little extra impact and favors durable costumes. She is equipped with the standard Paragon medical monitor and emergency teleport beacon, a Legendary communicator, and a rocket 'jump' pack for dealing with vertical obstacles. Like many heroes, she carries a small quantity of the Sands of Mu, though she doesn't remember how she got it. She used to carry a supply of bubble gum to help her pass the time while waiting for something to happen, but stopped after she swallowed her gum during a fight with Babbage.
History
Badb registered as a superheroine after a couple of Hellions tried to mug her and a friend, and she mugged them instead. She offered no satisfactory explanation as to why she'd suddenly felt and acted on the impulse to fight them, just that it simply "seemed like the thing to do." Initially turned away from the registration desk, she went looking for more Hellions, beat them up and made a citizen's arrest. Perhaps sensing that the young woman was unlikely to give up and go away, the clerk relented.
Initial tests detected no paranormal abilities at all. No genetic drift, no strange accidents, no spells or magical auras, and no equipment more complicated than big, stompy boots and the obligatory costume. She professed to have no prior combat training, and barely qualified for her security clearance, though her evaluation noted that she seemed to have the "right instincts." As she not only survived but thrived, the anomalies began to pile up, until it became clear that she did have powers beyond the ordinary, though repeated tests have been unable to pin down their origin. Badb herself remains blithely unconcerned about the nature of her powers.
