History

Pangaea - a world much like our own, where the major continents had never separated. Britannia, a section of Pangaea, caught in the throes of its own industrial revolution. Magic and technology coexist in this world, maintaining a balance of mysticism and fact, valuing originality and feeling of creation over all else. The culture there is reminiscent of our old Victorian customs, with a dash of the flash and confidence of the roaring 20's.

That's where Becky used to live, until it all went wrong.

It had been so close to perfect. Here was Becky Jack, Inventurer Extraordinaire, poised on the brink of the biggest technological breakthrough since the wheel: Time Travel. The plans were perfect, the machine was perfect, the conditions would be perfect if it would stop raining, and Becky was about to break the biggest barrier any scientist had ever encountered.

As she stepped into the machine, Becky ran the calculations through her head. As she was factoring in the possibility of creating a time loop, she noticed her tesla coil thrumming oddly. Suddenly, there was a flash, and a bolt of lightning struck the coil. It wasn't correctly tuned, and a discharge destroyed the coil wire. The machine spun into action, and Becky found herself flung into what she hoped was the time stream, fearing the worst.

When the machine settled, Becky peeked out to find herself in a new unknown world. It was inhabited by humans, yes, but they looked so strange and unlike the people of Britannia. But Becky was a scientist at heart, and the first thing she did was collect data. She concluded that the lightning must have sent her through a dimensional rift between Pangaea and Earth, instead of through the time stream like she wanted.

While looking for a way to get back, Becky heard talk about Portal Corp, a company with access to other dimensions. Unfortunately, they were located on Peregrine Island, which Becky found too dangerous to travel through. Resolving to get stronger, Becky is now training with her modified repair gloves and handy gadgets to get good enough at fighting to get to Portal Corp and try to get home.

Personality

Becky is upbeat and cheerful. She's a whiz at anything technological and most things scientific, but blunt and frank when dealing with people, seeing no point in keeping any courtesies that prevent her from speaking her mind. Morals are a bit tricky with Becky - while she does more good than evil, she doesn't really begrudge those who choose the opposite, and, while it often seems otherwise, she doesn't let emotions get in the way of facts.

Becky is extremely smart and extremely aware of it. She doesn't see much point in faking modesty; when you do something fantastic, why not tell others about it? She's as easy with praise as she is with bragging, and holds no qualms in telling you when she thinks your idea is stupid. When she does something she is particularly proud of, she'll refer to herself in third person, so the memory of her triumph will stick better in the minds of others, with her name attached to it.

Becky loves gathering data, and always keeps a notebook with her. It's full of just abut everything: Doodles of possible inventions, data collected from strange passersby, things she wants to remember, and more. She makes copies of all her data, and is happy to share what you need if she happens to have it on her.
