Biography

Elizabeth Nelson (or Betsy to people not looking for a fight) is, along with her twin sister, Rebecca, one of the Nuclear 90. The Nuclear 90 are a group of children, all born in the same year, with an unusual mutation that gives them natural magnetic nuclear fusion reactors for hearts, and the ability to channel energy from their internal reactor for a variety of super powers. Betsy and Rebecca were born in south Louisiana in the 1980s. Their parents kept the girls' condition secret from them for their protection. However, when Betsy and Rebecca turned 16, their dormant powers awakened and Betsy accidentally burned down her high school, alienating herself from her friends and the community. Blaming her mother for keeping her powers a secret from her (her father having been murdered ten years previously), Betsy believes that she would have developed better control over her powers if she had had more time to learn about them. Determined to use her powers to bring her father's murderers to justice, Betsy left home at the age of eighteen and tracked the killers to Paragon City where she puts her powers to good use by fighting crime under the name of "Black Nowhere."

Powers

Betsy's mutant condition gives her an enormous surplus of kinetic energy, which she can bleed off into concussive punches or exothermal blasts. Her internal reactor also grants her body superconductive properties which allow her to absorb electricity and to shield herself with it.

Personality

Betsy has an enormous supply of kinetic energy as a byproduct of her "condition." As such, she can't seem to keep still and may seem hyperactive to unknowing observers. She is also very shy, preferring to let her powers do her talking for her. She absolutely hates being called by her real first name, Elizabeth, as it reminds her of her mother (Elizabeth is her mother's middle name). Despite her "mommy issues" and relative inexperience at being a hero, Betsy is very loyal companion and will always fight to protect her friends from harm.
