Personality
Betty is a well-mannered, middle-aged woman who often apologizes to her opponents as she incapacitates them. Her mutant powers manifested late in life or, at least, she didn't notice them until then. When it occurred to her that super villains were harming the environment, she became determined to learn how to control her powers so that she could minimize damage to her precious plant life. She sees the Devouring Earth as a misguided group of monsters that she sympathizes with, but she does not condone their actions.

Description
Betty is a middle-aged woman of unremarkable build or appearance. Her costume is little more than the clothing she wears when tending her own garden at home.
Powers
Betty's powers are a mutant manifestation which she had not realized she had until late in life. She'd always worked wonders with plants, though it wasn't until some of her plants walked around at her command that she suspected she was different. After consulting with a few doctors to determine the origin of her powers and if there were any harmful side effects, she registered with City Hall as a super hero.
Plant Control
Betty's ability to control plants is, for her age, rather limited. She lacks experience and feels that if she had concentrated on developing her talents sooner, she could get something bigger than a tulip to walk about. She does have a knack for getting plants to grow strong and healthy.
Thermal Radiation
Betty can radiate warmth and a healing light that is beneficial to humans as well as plants.
Equipment
Betty carries a large axe, a relic her grandfather kept in the house. She occasionally used it for hacking away large, undesirable plant growth but decided it would be good for agressive defense should her powers not be strong enough to protect her from super villain adversaries.
Character History
Betty Bernstien was in her garden, trimming her favorite bush, when she heard police sirens and gun shots nearby. She picked up her axe out of concern and looked about to see if things were safe enough to remain outside or not. When she saw a group of Outcasts fleeing from super heroes, she ducked and hid for a long time. Eventually, she thought it might be safe to get up but didn't want to look. She looked at a newly planted tulip and jokingly asked, "Take a look and see if the coast is clear, okay?" The flower pulled its roots out of the ground and crawled around for a better look. Betty was so shocked that she remained in her hiding spot between the bushes for another hour. In time, she realized that it wasn't the flower that was a freak, but rather that she could talk to any plant and get it to move and react... with differing amounts of success based on what she was trying to affect.
