Cara's World ((OOC))

Cara is a member Trooping Faerie. In his book "Irish Fairy and Folk Tales" William Butler Yeats divides faeries into two categories. Trooping Faeries and Solitary Faeries. Trooping Faeries are described as faerie royalty and nobility and are so named because they travel in great troops (or large processions). They are generally painted in his stories as the more friendly, but still tricky sort of fae creatures. The Solitary faeries are considered to be generally the darker more sinister variety of fae creatures. Both types are prone to tricks, fighting and other unsavory activities but the Solitary faeries do so more out of malice whereas the Trooping Faeries are generally not malicious.

History

Carabelle Reedglitter was a Sgt. in the Royal Guard and lead a squad on marches alongside the youngest princess of her Troops Chieftain. She was chosen to represent her people in Paragon City when a representative from the Midnighters came to her home village of Ballisodare in Ireland seeking aid during the second Rikti Invasion. She was tasked with using her magic to protect several top secret artifacts that the Rikti targetted alongside several magical heroes. In an event that has not yet become public knowledge Cara and the heroes fought off a series of Rikti attempts to capture these artifacts. Several heroes lost their lives and Cara was wounded for a short period of time and lost the ability to fly for a few weeks.

A permanent solution was found for protecting the secret artifacts and Cara had intended to return to her people. However, she was convinced to stay by both Azuria and the Dark Watcher. ((OOC Note)) She has never revealed the reason why they needed her to stay and will deny any statements about the issue, choosing instead to say that she wanted to hang out with humans more, or some other silly excuse ((End OOC Note)). Her time with the Midnighters was boring without the threat of Rikti attacks and as her people tend to do, she began to pull pranks on humans inside the Midnighter club spaces to amuse herself. After many complaints it was decided that she should work in the city proper as an agent of MAGI.

With Azuria as her mentor and babysitter Cara started on working some of MAGI's backed case log. She has since strayed from this and pretty much does what she feels like.

Combat Abilities

Cara is a master of several Fae martial arts not the least of which is Fae Bawn Ae. This art form is used at the battles on the Plain-a-Bawn held every 7 years during the May Eve Festival. Cara was almost crowned champion of the most recent tournament, but was defeated at the last minute by her cousin Elle Starlight. Cara generally employs her Fae Magic when working with other heroes. Her concentrated blasts of "Faerie Power" (her words) hit her opponents with both concussive and explosive force. While these blasts have the potential for lethality, being a member of the Seelie Court and not wanting to cause a rift with humans she adheres to a strictly non-lethal attack level.

Cara has other Fae spells that she casts to help her team or hinder the enemies without attacking them. She can generate a choking cloud of Faerie Dust around her making it difficult for her foes to breathe. She can use Fae magic to weaken more powerful foes sapping their strength, slowing down their movement and thoughts, tricking them into lowering their defenses and even disrupting their ability to heal from wounds.

Cara's friends can count on the opposite from her more helpful fae spells. She can soothe pain and heal minor wounds of those around her. She can release a burst of special faerie dust that, instead of choking someone, actually makes it easier for them to breath, makes them less tired and speeds up their metabolism. Finally if one of her friends gets in over their head and gets knocked unconscious she can revive them. (Sometimes she uses their knocked out body as a weapon first, using a special fae dust that would otherwise hurt them unless they were in this state. The resulting explosion is powerful and painful to enemies, but harmless to the injured teammate)

Personality

Carabelle, like other faeries can be moody. She is sometimes happy and bubbly, but then may sink into a gloomy and pouty state. This can happen quickly and with no warning. Humans often think they have made her upset, but it is just her nature. When she is happy she has been known to play pranks on her friends and tell jokes till the wee hours of the morning. When she is gloomy she waxes poetic about the bygone days of her faerie upbringing and the general sorry state of the human world.

She can come across as flirty to some human males but this is just her friendly nature. Cara is unbound, which means she has not taken a mate, but she is not interested in humans. She will be polite to any advances towards her, but prefers to keep her dealings with humans strictly on a friend basis.
