Origin of Powers

At age 13, Jill developed the ability to control electricity to a certain extent. Her years of experience with using her own powers makes her far more confident in her inherent abilities, and she will only use a firearm when ordered to or in a critical moment where her own power would be foolish to use.

At age 17, Jill joined the US Marine Corps, followed by medical school. She became a fully trained military surgeon and field medic, and learned how to use her powers for anaesthetic purposes while doing her job. Despite being a doctor, she is fully capable of taking a human life -- but she understands and enforces the value of human life and would rather incapacitate or sedate her targets.

Psychological Profile

After twelve years in the Marines, Jill is pretty hardened to the horrors of war and the brutality of man, but her friendly and bright nature somewhat protected her from becoming bitter and jaded. She is easy enough to get along with and is relatively balanced, considering the struggles she has faced.

At age 28, Jill suffered an injury to her left knee and was honourably discharged after 12 years of service at the officerial rank of Major.

Jill never married: her career came first. After her discharge from the Marines, she underwent therapy to fix her knee, but even after two years of healing, she still experiences some pain at times.

The Knee

Jill's knee is a sensitive topic for her. After it was destroyed in Iraq, she underwent many surgeries to repair the damage, followed by over a year of therapy to be able to carry heavy objects, and even run. She is extremely stubborn about having the knee fixed: firstly, she is annoyed that modern medicine and surgeries cannot do anything for it. She spent almost half her life in the study of medicine and is frustrated that there is no skilled and educated way of repairing the damage.

Secondly, she is annoyed that a hero, usually an empath, could probably repair the damage by simply thinking and touching.

Third, she uses the knee as a beacon: when it hurts, it's a definite sign that she's pushing herself too hard. Her knee was injured this badly in the first place because she ignored her limits. It keeps her in check.

Finally, the knee acts as a sort of weather forecaster. She always knows when it's going to snow or rain the day before it happens... and really, that's kind of neat.

Quirks

- Jill always has cold hands. She pegs it off as being a Doctor (and all Doctors have cold hands, right?) but the reality of it is that she conducts electricity far better when she's warm. She keeps her hands cold so she can control minor bursts of therapeutic current. The hotter her hands are, the more powerful her electricity is.

- Jill calls every man she first meets a stalker. It's half defense mechanism, and half amusement.

- Jill has serious committment issues. She'll go for a beer with someone, but won't date exclusively. Also, despite the level of flirtatiousness she exhibits, doesn't sleep with strange men.

- Jill has never been married and has no plans on moving in that direction. One could say she's married to her work.
