Personality

Coming from the 1920s, Darius refuses to move with the times and has held to the styles, mannerisms, and values that the upper class of that era including gentlemanly behaviorisms and boarder line obsessiveness with cleanliness. He often sports white clothing coating it with a thin layer of frost to keep blood and most filth off it. Despite his mannerisms, he is truly ruthless in his endeavors and has no qualms with murder and torture though these things are merely paths to an end. He takes no particular enjoyment in brutality and refuses to speak of it afterwards.

Powers

Darius is a sorcerer granted with the control over the destructive natures of both fire and ice. His original studies of magic also grant him limited negative energy manipulation.

Character History

The 20s

Having been born into a well to do southern family, Darius spent most of his young life in the company of the rich and the elite. He suffered their same curse unfortunately. A restless sense of boredom that dominated their lives. Many began to walk places where angels feared to tread. Driven by their boredom, and empowered by their wealth and arrogance, magic was one of the most common curiosities they dabbled in. Although, while most learned nothing past parlor tricks, some stumbled on real power.

In 1926 Darius met a young woman who infatuated him. Indeed, she infatuated many. Getting her attention and favor suddenly became a game of sport among the bachelors, one that Darius was intent not to lose. He had always taken a liking to magic and had even gone so far as to learn more than just parlor tricks. But, he knew that these were just games and nothing compared to real power which could not be bought from traveling swindlers or old book stores. He traveled home, intent of learning real magic to impress the young woman and forever raise his status among his niche, and sought out a band of traveling gypsies. He had seen their magic when they traveled through his area performing for money many years ago. But they refused to teach him anything real, no matter how much money he offered them. It was when he threatened to use his influence to get them all arrested, that he was taken to see a withered old woman. Apparently she was the leader of the gypsy band. For an tidy some of a money, and a promise that he would never seek them out again, she handed him a book bound in human skin.

Few comprehend that power is never free. Certainly not Darius who had had everything given to him from the day he was born. The spells within the book granted his desires. Having real magic he immediately became the center of focus for the idle rich who came from around the world to see his capabilities.

Darius went through the entire book learning and mastering every spell and finally he found himself on the last. A spell laced with dire warnings that fell on deaf ears. Without thinking twice, he gathered the regents and drew the symbols. When he cast the spell he was plunged into a world of darkness and madness and came face to face with a being that could never be dreamed up in the darkest deepest nightmares of the most twisted minds. Having many names throughout history, it's most well known is Shiva. A dark god of war and destruction. Mortified and nearly driven mad, Darius fell to his knees as the creature began to speak. His incantation was the signing of a contract. A pact for a life time of service in return for a bottomless well of power he was given control over the destructive natures of both fire and ice.

Darius returned to his life a changed being. The sight of the god had left his mind forever warped.

The 30s

Perhaps it was the dark god's will within him, maybe it was his own ambition given life by the flood of power, but Darius became one of the world's first super villains. By the 1930s, his family fortune was gone but his taste for fine living was not. He began to pull heists leaving swathes of destruction in his wake. Becoming a nemesis to the southern United States, Darius found himself in battles with some of the world's first super heroes. Many of their lives he claimed.

All this came to an end in 1935 when Statesman came down on Darius like a sledge hammer. In a tremendous battle Darius suffered his first defeat. It was a sobering blow which knocked some manner of sanity back into his mind. Though he quickly escaped from prison, he did not return to his former life. He went under ground becoming much more quiet and subtle about his activities.

2007

Nathan Rossom, leader of the Society of Aristos, makes a fatal error in judgment. His society was an exclusive club for the world's richest and most powerful. It's existence was a closely guarded secret and granted him influence over the world. In an effort to keep his members entertained, he began to seek eccentric people and invite them in. Little did Rossom know what would happen when such an invitation was offered to Darius Talbocain.

Talbocain saw the potential of Aristos immediately. Rossom did not survive the week.

Talbocain took Aristos public and began offer invitations to the idle rich... of the Rouge Isles.
