Character History
Birth
The first Rikti invasion had passed, leaving a path of destruction and death with thousands more missing. One of those missing was a scientist at D.A.T.A., Dr. Redfield. His son, Xavier, had been following in his father's legacy, quickly becoming an up and coming modular robotics engineer. He was aware that the remaining heroes and civilians in Paragon City needed his aid, and set out to help them all, using his father's technology and his own intelligence to create his vision.
Born from Rikti scraps given to D.A.T.A. Longbow officials, and the remaining technologies Dr. Redfield had left behind, was Beta Unit. This creation caused quite a stir at D.A.T.A., Xavier claiming that the creation of this Beta Unit could help decrease casualties by aiding heroes and sacrificing itself in the name of others. An associate of Xavier's father stepped forward, Dan Whitmore, claiming that not only was the technology an embarrassment to heroes everywhere, but that it may even be a threat from its still infantile A.I.
Angered by D.A.T.A.'s agreement with Whitmore, Xavier left Atlas Park, pursuing his own well meaning agenda. He continued to work on Beta Unit, using the same theorems his father had used for his exo-suit. This fully constructed being was able to emit heavy blasts of energy and emit radiation that was "filtered" through several lenses from Rikti crash sites. After weeks of testing and watching his new creation gain security levels from defending the people of Paragon, Xavier was pleased with his success. He had proved to himself, and others, that using the technology available, his creations could help defender the city in its greatest time of need. Each creation would be aptly named by classifications according to the city and systematically numbered by the production model and its duties assigned. Thus, Beta Unit 1's abilities were finally altered, and he was renamed: Defender Unit 1, in honor of Dr. Redfield's numerical system for his own armor units, Defender Unit 9.
The Protective Units of Paragon
With Defender Unit 1's popularity quickly on the rise, Xavier filed back with D.A.T.A., asking for permission and materials to continued work on his creations. Reluctantly, D.A.T.A. agreed based on the monumental success of Defender Unit 1. Quickly, a female counterpart was created, utilizing the force field driven gauntlets that Xavier's father himself had used during the Rikti Invasion. With the finalized pink unit created, she was named Defender Unit 2. This was the start of the Protective Units of Paragon.
Xavier began to create these Units as quickly as he could, naming them appropriately. Things were going well until several weeks later, when disaster fell upon Scrapper Unit 4.
