Demiise
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
Demiise, ne. Dennis Corvus, was a worker for a firm employed by the US Government to contain, reverse-engineer, or destroy artifacts and relics of alien or human origin which are deemed too dangerous to remain intact on Earth. His company occupied a number of floors in th North Tower of the World Trade Center.
On September 11th, 2001, a terrorist attack using jet liners destroyed both structures in a world-altering event. At the moment of impact, Dennis was exposed to the escape attempt of an Atlantean artifact which fused with his psyche; together, they escaped the destruction and fled to Rhode Island, with the artifact seeking to return to it's native people and Dennis tagging along with no choice in the matter.
His full origin tale can be seen here.

Affiliations
Demiise is known to operate with the Cult of Mu, a religious sect of a reptilian humanoid race dedicated to the ancient and evil Old Ones, the Gods of Mu. The 'Lacerta' as they call themselves, are militant group of aliens from a distant group of worlds who have had previous powerful colonies on Earth; they and their human minions are intent upon summoning or resurrecting these Old Ones and re-establishing their reign via the enslavement and/or destruction of humanity and a great percentage of the rest of Earth's life forms.
Personality
Demiise is a dark, cynical sociopath. Fused with a non-human entity which once powered a Lacertan artifact, Dennis Corvus exists in a state of perpetual schizophrenia, except the second half of his personality is not actually his own nor is even organic in nature. He and the Eye of Mu are in constant conflict; Dennis desires to settle into the role of super-villain and enjoy the ride while occasionally and half-heartedly, participating in alien plans to take over his own planet in the hopes of some nebulous gain; while the Eye of Mu is desperate to discard the annoying parasite it considers Dennis to be so it can further the cause of Mu and elevate itself as a demigod icon made flesh. The Eye constantly plots in secret to either flush out or destroy Dennis' psyche utterly so it can retain full possession of his body; Dennis sometimes desires to establish a truce with his possessor but just as often seethes with rage at his own unwanted tag-along. Each is able to take command of the shared body, but struggles of will result in an odd marionette battle where both enemies pull only half the strings.

Abilities
His fusion with the Eye of Mu have given Dennis tremendous psychic abilities of a fell nature. Because of the nature of his possessor and the events surrounding his take-over, Dennis' power resides in his eyes. So great is the dreadful presence of the now-incarnate Eye of Mu that Dennis must shield his eyes behind the dense tinted material of welder's goggles so that his gaze does not simply slay any other human or humanoid who meets him. When he drops or removes the eye-pieces to initiate mayhem, his eyes glow with an intense red brilliance.
Dennis and the Eye can reach into his shattered memories to gather the sensations he lived through on September 11th, and hurl these images and agonies into the minds of his opponents. If he were to achieve direct eye contact and the Eye of Mu is not resisting, the overflow of horrid psychic feedback will slay outright any rational human or humanoid. By selecting certain momentary images, Demiise can also stun or damage enemy minds, or cause psychic bolts to form at his forehead and be hurled about for explosive damage. He can also cause such mental confusion or hallucination that people will attack former friends with an animalistic rage.
Another offshoot of his fusion with the alien artifact is a regeneration-like ability of unnatural dimensions. He can literally be torn apart, burned, crushed, drowned, or exposed to any other form of mayhem and the power of the Eye will grab his component pieces and reform him. Unfortunately for Dennis any such experience is lived through with all associated agony. Because of his new nature he cannot be rendered unconscious by pain nor experience physiological shock. Though he is glad to survive he must go through any discomfort such events engender. He is also able to obscure himself in the minds of others to become invisible [essentially, their minds cannot, or refuse to, recognize environmental details that perceive him, so he can actually bump into people and remain undetected], though any form of aggressive contact breaks this illusion.
Dennis is also developing an ability to fly.
Weaknesses and Limitations
Dennis does not possess any super strength nor overly keen mind, nor any other outward physical prowess, so if he were to be imprisoned or bound it is likely he would remain so if he could not bring his psychic abilities to bear on his jailers. Also, he experiences all pain associated with the trauma he undergoes. In addition he must frequently contend with an alien possessor who desires to obliterate him; however, likewise the Eye of Mu is unavoidably forced to otherwise preserve Dennis' life and health at all costs, lest it also perish with him. Most native members of the Cult of Mu don't regard him as an equal, and indeed many consider him a freak and a threat; these also desire that the Eye destroy his psyche. However, there are also some who see Dennis' desire to cooperate and consider him, at least, a sympathizer to their cause and thus a useful minion or tool.
Equipment
Being involved with the Cult of Mu have granted Dennis the mystic-powered punch augmented by the Sands of Mu, and an operative Blackwand as yet another weapon to be used.
Character History
The extensive and horrific trauma surrounding Dennis' possession by the Eye of Mu is detailed in full in the short story Origin: A Horror Story which can be viewed off-site here.
