Overview

Douglas Smith was a Natural Tanker in Paragon City. He was a member of the supergroup, D.F.B. - Death From Below. He is currently retired from heroing.

Background

Description

Douglas Smith took to the streets of Paragon City one day to find his wife and daughter when they didn't show up for lunch one day. Although this 48-year-old suburbanite stockbroker has no actual "super" powers, he makes up for it with an iron will and great determination.

History

Spoiler warning: Details about a player-created storyline, or information currently unrevealed about a character, follow.

In The Adventures of Invincible Man, Doug was possessed by the spirit of a former superhero when he inadvisably walked into a Malta energy emissions device, thinking about his lack of superpowers. In the days to follow, Invincible Man fought injustice and sought a cure for himself through randomly clicking on other Malta machines, until (after picking up 87 more personalities) he finally found the right one. Doug was returned to almost-normal (he couldn't remember anyone's name, even though he knew who they were).

In Pit of Despair, Doug, frustrated, gave up his search for his family when he found out that all of his leads had run cold, due to his Invincible Man stint. Some of his friends finally found him participating in the Paragon Pit, an underground tournament where shady heroes fight against (and often kill) villains looking to make a name for themselves. After disrupting the events, Doug was finally convinced to think things over and to renew his search.

In Finding Doug's Family, Doug's friends finally found his wife, who had teamed up with a Nictus as the heroine Moonblaze. After forcefully breaking the Nictus's hold over its host, it grudgingly separated from her, and Doug, his wife, and his daughter were renuited once again.

Spoilers end here.

Personality

Doug is strong of will and refuses to give up, even if he has to kick in every single door in Paragon City to find his family. Yet, Doug is calm and logical, although, like any human being, he has his moments. Occasionally, Doug has exploded in anger, much to the surprise of his friends.

Powers

Doug lacks any special powers, but his determination drives him to push his body to limits beyond anything imaginable.

Great Willpower

While he has no "super" powers, Doug can fight alongside those who do through strength of heart. His determination allows him to perform superhuman feats, from enduring the pain of swords and guns to dodging and deflecting blows from superpowered foes.

Brawling

Learned from the action movies of the era, Doug fights villainy with his fists, punching, jabbing, and smacking foes into submission.
