Dust Walker's abilities are relatively unique in nature. She possesses the ability to generate and manipulate sand. She is capable of making grains of sand move through the air with just a thought, and when no sand is available she can produce it from the palms of her hands. When she shows off her abilities she can often be seen making pillars of it swirl around her body, or just an arm.
Being in Paragon City, the generation side of her power is her biggest asset, as the only place sand can readily be found is in Talos or Peregrine Islands. How her abilities would come into play within an area such as a desert can only be guessed.
Ali comes from a small town in South Carolina where she grew up helping out with her family's farm. She speaks with a mild southern accent and has a dark tan over her skin. She says she only first realized her abilities when she was 14 when she was at the beach. Her friend had gone into the water and got caught on some plants beneath the surface, nearly drowning. In her desperation to save her friend, Ali called upon the sand of the beach itself to extend out into the water and form beneath the trapped swimmer. After the event she was thrown out of her town, though she continues to communicate with the friend she saved, perhaps the only person in her hometown who saw her as she truly was. A hero.
Ali's family moved away from that town and set up a new life in another corner of South Carolina. She did everything she could to hide her abilities so she didn't cause her family to start over again, until she was 18 and able to head out on her own to practice with her powers without causing trouble. After gaining a tighter grasp of her talent she moved to Paragon City where she wouldn't feel like an outcast as she let her power show in defense of the public.

I made Dust Walker as soon as Issue 16 came live, having saved the costume and power colors and reserving the name the night before. As soon as the servers came back up from the I16 update I just had to make a few clicks and Dust Walker became one of, if not the first Sand Manipulators on Virtue (at least with colored powers). I even had one person comment that I had inspired them to make their own sand manipulator. While I know there are a good number of them on the server now, I still get plenty of compliments on the originality and awesomeness of Dust Walker, and that always brings a smile to my face. :)
