Personal History
She was born in the city of Leiden in the Netherlands, Amber Maas is your average typical blond haired, blue eyed populair highschool girl. Her parents are what one would call the spoiled rich kid folks, and her all out annoying little sister Gigi screams at everything she can't have or must have. At age 4 Amber enrolled to a martial arts school, as she swore to protect her little sister that was born just a few days before that. 2 years later she joined the same school Alex Winter was enlisted, wich had now evolved to a strong childhood friendship. Although she developed a very deep crush for him over the years they had spent together, she has always kept it a secret. It was already a blessing for Amber to be able to follow Alex around as they always where assigned the same schools for years to come.
When she became 12 her father died in a plane crash, wich seemed that the plane in question was altered by a group of terrorists for a collision course straight into the ocean, the very plane her father was in shattered completely the moment it hit the waves of the oceans surface. When the sad news arrived her mother was broken but recollected herself a week later to do everything in her motherly instinct to raise her two childeren as best she could. Things weren't always easy even though their father left them a large fortune, as Gigi had apparantly shut out the fact that daddy ain't gonna be home anymore. To make matters even worse, she completely became oblivious to anything that didn't fit in her own agenda.
Amber vowed that she would protect everyone that was close to her and so enlisted to even more martial arts schools. Eventually she learned Ninjitsu, Kung Fu, Tai Chi and a recent new art form known as Jade Ki Ho, and even still she had time somewhere to keep hanging out with Alex. Her very persistance and complete devotion to be able to learn as much fighting styles as she could, rewarded her serveral times with amazing finesse and very quick adaptions of the arts. She stood out as she bested serveral teaching masters in just a few years, when normally one would take years and years to learn such vast difference of knowledge in the many schools she had enrolled in. Alot of prizes and rewards went to Amber as she won more and more contests, wich now decorated her room in a glass cabinet.
After a few years the 1st Rikti Invasion caused alot of pain and grief as Alex got involved by a Rikti attack that left him crippled for a few months. Amber was on her way to the hospital on the day she heared the news, but when she was only half a mile from the hospital a sudden wild tremble from the earth shook her beneath her feet as the ground she stood on crumbled away. After tumbling down the hole for what seemed minutes she finally came to a stop into a dark lit room, the only light from above and an eerie green glow from within the ship. Apparantly the remains of a crashed Rikti ship layed wasted here, as Amber slowly got back to her feet only a bit dazed, bruised and scratched.
She looked around and noticed the greenish glow made her feel all tingly and nauseous for some reason. Searching around the room wich seemed to live on itself, she finally found a spot to climb back out of the ship. Though the glow slowly affected her as if trying to stop her from getting out of the crashed machine. After a long climb back out the hole she was able to walk the last part to the hospital and visit Alex, as soon as she entered the room Alex was in the monitors went haywire. Some of the doctors ran inside to check what was going on, but couldn't find the source of the disturbance until one guy came in with a radiation scanner and detected an extreme reading on Amber.
They took her aside and examined her from top to bottom only to find out that after a while of questioning, she was in the ship and the green glow must have been a strong leaking radiating pollution that infected her, as her genetic code seemed scrambled and slowly changing constantly. After serveral hours of testing it was concluded no remedie was available for the infection at this time, so they took her overnight to keep an eye on her but the next day her radiation seemed to have dissappeared even though her genes where still alive and changing. A couple of months had past now and she heared the doctors having a possible solution to Alex medical status, after being completely immobilized by an attack of the Rikti. Miraculously enough he came back good as new, but to Ambers suprise he was more than new. Instead he came back walking in full glory, looking way more muscular that she had ever seen him.
As for her own little issue she had found out accidentally when she cut her self with a knife deeply that her wound almost instantly healed out of nowhere. Being curious she decided to find out more about her so called ilness and started making deeper cuts, burn herself and even break her own fingers wich all healed incredibly fast. She even made an succesful attempt at chopping off her entire hand, wich grew back completely within a small hour. Happy with her newly found regenerative abilities, in combination with her extreme finesse martial arts capabilities she took up her vow not only to protect those that are close to her, but also to use evertything in her power to aid mankind against invasions like the Rikti. Times apast and her best friend Alex Winter wich became miraculously better both in strength and toughness as well, they both became very well know heroes among the dutch people. Utilizing their heroic abilities to help those in need, assisting there where no one else could, and finally became partners in fighting crime and even better long time friends. Alex Winter now known as the Dutch Destroyer helped Amber Maas make up a name for herself, and so she became the Dutch Defender.
Personality
Amber's personality is easily described as caring, loving, silly but headstrong, understanding but idealistic. She is a great caring person for all things animal, and loves martial arts in wich her strong willpower and intelligence made her reach high levels of awards in multiple classes of the arts. She also has a tendency to become very stressed under alot of pressure, and fall into a quick depression when exposed to certain negative influences. None the less she is a very happy person when getting to know her better, even though she might seem un-emotional at best as she locks out any feelings or expressions that don't really concern her immediatly.
Powers and Abilities
From a very young age Amber has been training in various forms of martial arts. Now at age nineteen she has mastered a diverse variety of them. Including but not limited to Ninjitsu, Kung Fu, Tai Chi and a recent new art form known as Jade Ki Ho. The combination of these techniques coupled with her natural agility make Amber a deadly combatant. Because of her exposure to mutagenic radiation Ambers cells remain in a constant state of hyper stimulation. Because of this her natural healing ability as well as her immune system have become a thousand times more efficient. She is able to heal any injury almost instantly. Shrugging off wounds that would cripple or kill an ordinairy person outright. Her immune system makes short work of any venom or viral agent that gets inside her bloodstream. Her healing abillity is so strong that she can even regrow lost limbs. although this requires a significant amount of time and leaves her vulnerable.
Weaknesses
Despite her amazing healing abilities Amber can still Bleed to death should the injuries prove to numerous. The energy required by her cells for her amazing regeneration can leave her feeling drained and weakend for a while. Especially if she has to recover from extremely severe trauma. Her amazing regeneration does not lend her protection from mental assaults though and thus she is vulnerable to Psionic attacks.
