Background

Morris Callahan

Morris Callahan, an Irish immigrant circa 1850, rejected city life and Catholicism. Believing in "manifest destiny", he moved out to what would be Utah with his wife, Beth, and his daughter Eliza. He opened an inn and began to embrace the ideology of Mormonism, raising horses on the side. Unfortunately, a copy of an unholy book took hold of his wife and daughter. This resulted in a town play that ended with the death of everyone except Morris, incapacitated by a kick to the head by a horse. So Morris swore to avenge his family, and he set off across the deserts and plains with his rifle and the horse that kicked him. Morris would ride into folk-lore as the first American hunter of the supernatural.

The Callahan's Legacy

Understandably, sworn oaths against magical things are not easily forgotten. Morris' son with his new wife was raised to kill the supernatural, and so on for the next 130 years. The children are raised to fight, who run the business, who in turn teach their kids to fight. There was one slight quirk in Morris' "foolproof" plan to create a perfect genealogy dedicated to eradicate threats: the women the sons married.

Eliza's Heritage

The Quirk

Grant Callahan, great great grandson and notorious anti-magicist, followed his relative's teachings with obsessive vigor. Since Richter and Cole found the Well and released super-powers to the world, the Callahan name had grown from "crazy family with all of the crosses" to "Better call them, we might have a problem". And with greater business comes more stress and less "quality control" when it came to choosing a wife.

Angela Wilson was the daughter of Vera Woloshyn (Anglicized to "Wilson"),a Russian immigrant who came to America with the intention of being a nun. After a brief run-in with Private Detective Brian Erikson, she married him and had Angela along with a few siblings. Being the firstborn of a magical humanoid and a human woman, Angela inherited a great deal of magical powers which she passed on to Eliza.

Family

Grant runs the family business out of a condemned apartment building in Brooklyn he bought as cheap as he could. He had it renovated for the family to use the entire building as headquarters, with an entire floor for each member, a library, armory and room sublet to a coffee shop and bar. Grant is heavily anti-magic and tends to fly off the handle irrationally, with his two sons influenced by his beliefs.

Angela is a homemaker, and is generally peaceful. She provides a caring and understanding love to Eliza, mainly because of their shared heritage and powers and generally advises her children to think before they act. However, she lives under the fear that Grant will divorce her should he investigate her bloodline.

Scott, the youngest, is calm, normally planning before acting. He wields thousands of firearms capable of harming the supernatural, but his methods tend to be brutal and trigger-happy.

Eric is studying to be a Catholic priest. Passionate with a minute fuse, most of his tactics involve waving a Bible, throwing holy water and preaching fire and brimstone.

Spondee Trochee, her grandfather (she considers him to be great-great-great due to his age), keeps himself hidden from everyone except Angela and Eliza. He just wants a peaceful relationship with her, mainly because of his antagonistic experiences with Morris. He also wants to help Eliza understand her heritage and bloodline, and the powers she has because of it.

Personality

Eliza tends to maintain a calm, secretarial front. She often discusses business, not afraid to talk about what she's currently up to. Liz's drink of choice is coffee with excessive amounts of sugar (she has no fear of diabetes; body fixes any imbalances quickly.) In combat or at work, she often tries to negotiate before acting but isn't afraid to retaliate with force. Liz isn't afraid to throw herself in harms way if it helps others.

Powers

Liz has mastered a rare form of martial arts that lets its user focus their mind to incredible degrees. When fully concentrated, Liz is capable of harming otherwise intangible enemies and hurting unholy creatures. Liz refuses to say the name of her style aloud; she guards her mastery with her life.

However, a warrior with no defense is a flawed warrior. Due to her shared lineage with her grandfather, Liz retains a large degree of his powers over regeneration. Scratches heal in seconds, deep burns mend in minutes, limb loss is easily corrected by placing the missing item back where it should be. These abilities do inspire a degree of recklessness in her, but the full degree of her regenerating powers are unknown. It's theorized that should could be immortal like her grandfather.

Her mastery of body and mind have led to odd side-powers (Read: When she gets high enough, Body Mastery.)

Trivia

-Liz generally hates most of the holidays. Halloween earns most of her ire, as it brings an influx of occult-related mishaps and haunted slumber parties her way. The rest are St. Valentine's Day (love potions and spells gone awry), New Years Eve (time spells and paradoxical problems) and Thanksgiving (no given reason).

-Her eyesight is horrible without her contacts or glasses to the point of stumbling around with her hands in front of her. Think an angry Velma that swings her fists blindly.

-Has a secret delight in touching ghosts and specters in Pocket D; she likes that they don't like that she can touch them.

-Is often seen with a large cup of coffee that's approximately 65% sugar. Liz doesn't seem to fear diabetes.

-Flight makes her nauseous.

-Is allergic to large quantities of dust; presents an inherent problem when it comes to ancient things and exploration.
