Finding of the Gauntlets

When a buried chamber was discovered underneath a Gadzul Oil field, Jarrod was first in line to explore it. But due to Gadzul running a legal circus, no one was allowed near the chamber exept Gadzul workers. Jarrod would not be easily turned away, so he waited until the dead of night to sneak past security and into the chamber. Inside he found scrolls of ancient techniques involving the wind, several ornaments bearing the eye of Ra and a detailed mural of Egypt with an eye in the middle of it. But before he had a chance to take it all in, he was attacked by a man cloaked in dark miasma. Jarrod was able to fend off the assassin with a light fixture, but several object were damaged (deliberately by the assassin) including the mural on the wall. Upon examination, Jarrod noticed the eye in the center was hollow and held a chest; a chest that held a pair of scarab shaped gauntlets that that housed bronze blades inside.

Egypt goes to America

Jarrod took the scrolls and the gauntlets to quietly sneak them to the University in Paragon City for study. But on his flight back he couldn't shake the urge to look more at the scrolls. When he finally arrived in Paragon City, he immediately went to the University to get a better look at the scrolls. To his surprise, the scrolls referred to him by name. Consulting with some of his colleagues he found out everyone else who looked at the scrolls saw blank parchment. Jarrod had realized that he had been chosen. Chosen to carry the ancient mantle. The energetic professor was more than willing to accept such a task, and in no better a place.

Personality

Jarrod Dalton does not change much when he is The Eye of Egypt, other than trying to hide his accent. He is an energetic man who enjoys any sort of physical activity, sometimes going as far as to find a way to make something physical, like climbing up a shelf to reach a book when there is a ladder nearby. He is quick witted, and is ever optimistic in a losing situation. A bit of an eccentric and an incredible show off. He takes near death experiences as encouragement.

Day Job

Without the mask, Jarrod Dalton spends his time at the Universities around Paragon, the one in Steel Canyon more than others. Although he is technically there on business, he still spends time assisting and being a guest lecturer in various classes. He even assisted Doc Delilah with a few digs in Overbrook's ruins. He especially enjoys talking to students about myths or ancient legends, anything to do with powers or heroes.

Professor Dalton is a member of the Midnight Squad. He helps out as both an archeologist and as a Hero.

Origin of Power

As a natural origin hero, The Eye of Egypt does not have any super powers, but does possess some extraordinary abilities. As a child he had taken a liking to gymnastics, but due to ridicule as a child he moved into track and field in school. Becoming a star athlete in running, hurdles, and the pole vault, he had a knack for any sort of acrobatics. In college he took up fencing to improve his reflexes, and furthered them by picking fights at the pub off campus. He secretly fancied himself a vigilante like Robin Hood or even as one of the Dawn Patrol, imagining the drunken louts he pummeled to be thugs or robbers. Unfortunately, after such a scuffle with the dean's son, Jarrod was expelled.

All his hard work paid off when he went on his first archeological dig. It was an Aztec Ziggurat. He was the only one in the expedition that didn't have an old rotten wooden dart stuck on him somewhere. He had his first supernatural occurance in Southern China, where his team was attacked by Clay guardians animated by magic. All of these experiences have helped develop Eye's senses and reflexes to their almost super human abilities.

The Scarab Gauntlets

The Scarab Gauntlets that were recovered from the chamber beneath the oil field in Egypt are a true marvel. The scrolls say that the blades are able to cut through fate itself. Although they appear to be made mostly of bronze and ebony, they are not even scratched by diamond. The magic that was sewn into these gauntlets is incredibly powerful. The eye of Egypt uses them as not only weapons, but shields as well, blocking anything from bullets to Rikti energy blasts to the icy claws of demons. But it is the blades that are housed inside the gauntlets that are the real power. Sharp, and never dulling, the bronze blades can cut a Freak Tank in half. And with the assistance of the scrolls that were found with them, can even make cuts with the wind itself. It's with that ability to manipulate the air that The Eye of Egypt is able to jump and ride the air.
