(( Vince was made way back when AE first came out and all the cool kids were farming Rikti Comm Officers. Originally a Spine/Fire Scrapper, he was strictly an OOC farming toon, but that wasn’t working for me, so I decided to throw a quick story together for him. Since then he’s gone through 4 re-rolls, hopefully the final version will be with i21 and Street Justice. ))

More Human Than Human

As Shadow Shard natives, Vince’s parents were little more than unwilling slaves in one of Chularn’s many Factory Cubes. He was brutal and ruthless, but despite it all they had a brief moment of happiness when his mother realized she was pregnant. Unfortunately, it didn’t last once they realized that their child’s fate would be the same as their own, and it broke their hearts. They used every fleeting moment to try and find an escape for their coming child, which eventually led them to Faathim the Kind. Faathim, one of the only beings truly capable of defying Rularuu, was willing to help them. When Vince was born, they snuck off to meet with Faathim and from there he escorted their child to earth and to freedom. Of course, it wouldn't be that easy. Chularn caught wind of the activity and hatched a plan. He would allow the child to leave, but he cursed him in the problem, infusing him with the Rularuu energy in hopes that someday he could use the child as a gateway to get out of the Shard.

Sinner

Baby Vince was sent to Paragon, a place were being a little weird wouldn’t be noticed and without parents, he quickly ended up under foster care. Like so many foster children, his “unfortunate” circumstances led him to lash out and slip into a more delinquent life style. He ran around with his three best friends performing minor vandalism and other petty crimes. As he grew up and his group grew tighter, they found their new escape in music. Eventually they moved out of foster care, but despite separating, they kept the band together and continued to play together, even getting a few gigs in dive bars, but it was a chance to play, so they were happy.

Once out of the foster homes, Vince got a cheap apartment in Kings Row. The cycle continued though, but now he was jumping from job to job, instead of from foster home to home. He’s done a little bit of everything, taking whatever jobs would ignore his juvie record, but music has always been his calling, so when the band finally started getting some bigger shows, he quit his jobs and lived strictly off his craft. While his friends eagerly dived into the rocker lifestyle, Vince slowly reformed, giving up the delinquent activities for the most part, avoiding the harder drugs the other guys got into, and even passing on most of the groupies that threw themselves at the group.

Animal I Have Become

Then, one day, he quite literally ran into a college professor at his local bank. The two struck up a conversation, he invited her to his next show, and the two hit it off. Roughly one month later, Moira and Vince were dating. The relationship led him to taking a side security job at her the museum she worked out of. During his time with the museum, Vince began to learn the truth of who he was and how he could do what he did. One exploratory trip to the Shard caused him to lash out, losing his sense of self as Chularn’s Curse took hold. After that, Moira did everything in her power to help him control it and stay himself, and it seemed to be working. After a while though, it became obvious that he just wasn’t a good fit at the museum, and he quit after the boss threatened Moira’s job because of him, and she soon followed suit, focusing on her teaching once more. They dated for several more months before he proposed and the two became engaged.

Despite the odds, the Professor and the Rockstar were wed and living a wonderful live together. The two enjoyed their lives together and began talking about adding another to their family and began trying for a child. By Christmas of that year, Moira was pregnant and the two even managed to meat their future granddaughter, who educated them on their coming son and the happiness he would bring them. Unfortunately, this act seemed to alter the events accidentily. Shortly after their son Tyler’s birth, the Curse made another bid for control, moving Vince like a puppet during the night and forcing him to watch as he killed his own infant child. His life was destroyed, his son murdered by his own hands, his marriage ruined, and though not convicted, he was instantly put on a long series of black lists.

Back in Black

His life was shattered and he fell almost completely off the grid, even moving out of Paragon and to the Isles, hoping that the horror of what he did wouldn’t hang over him there. Two weeks passed before his friends managed to get in touch with him, they were always more like brothers than anything, and in his darkest hour they were there for him. Of course, given their lifestyle, they decided to help him get back to normal by taking him on the bender of a lifetime. They spent a week exploring the depths of their debauchery, trying to help him forget everything else. By the end of it, he gathered his senses and in a moment of clarity he realized that he couldn’t undo what he’d done and even though it was his hand that took the life, he wasn’t in control. He was still tormented by what he’d done, but he had decided to move on with his life, or at least attempt to.

Mercy Island wasn’t quite as nice as Kings Row or the place he shared with Moira, but it worked and he was dead set that he’d make this rundown place into a home. After the birth of his son, he decided to take an indefinite leave from the band, but with all that happened, he hit his notebook hard, the lyrics spilling out endlessly. Their comeback was going to be big, they knew it and wouldn’t have it any other way, so they went to see the biggest club owner around, DJ Zero. While the guys worked out the details, Vince went off to get a drink and people watch, where he met who the person who may just be the next big thing in his life.

Destiny smiled on him, and he was drawn into her charms. The days that followed led him into the Iron Horsemen’s clubhouse. The animals haven’t exactly overcome him with warm welcomes, but he’s been slowly meshing in with them.

Monster

Chularn’s Curse has gifted Vince with a wide array of abilities, all stolen straight from the Soldiers of Rularuu themselves. These abilities, while wide and varied, all come with a constant struggle for control over their vessel.

Flames of the Ravager - His most often used and most recognized ability. Vince is able to generate the fires of Rularuu’s forges and use it for destructive or defensive means. Due to his constant use of the flames, his ability to control them is incredibly high.

Watcher’s Quills - The second ability Vince discovered, the ability to create an endless arsenal of spikes under his skin. They are coated in a unique Rularuu toxin, causing limited paralysis in what they touch, and are just a bit denser than bone matter. By pushing them through his skin he can use them as both short and long ranged weapons.

Telepathy - While not on par with a Wisp of any rank, normally Vince is able to speak directly with someone’s mind. While he’s not terribly good at it, there have been signs that this is simply the tip of the iceberg.

Corrupted Strength - Vince is no where near as strong as a standard Brute, but he does have a slight edge on a normal person, able to lift a ton, maybe two if he really needed to.

Overseer's Sight - When Vince's eyes change, he gains incredible sight, much like the Overseers. Able to see incredible distances without trouble, see and potentially recognize energy and auras, and even see through barriers and cloaks with focus. While this doesn't mean he's going to look through everyone's clothes, he lacks that degree of fine tuning, but with focus he could see through a wall after a moment of concentration. This does mean that he is able to see through just about all forms of stealth and cloaking, not counting special circumstances of course. This ability isn't on all the time, and when his eyes are "normal" he is simply able to see extended distances and see magic and magical auras.

Crystal of Resilience - Recently acquired the ability to tap into the Rularuu Brute's ability to release a massive burst of healing energy. It's not healing on a surgical level, but it would remove most surface wounds and increase the regenerative qualities of everyone nearby.

Revelations

- Plays lead guitar for the underground alternative rock/metal band, Cordially Yours

- Vince is an exceptional guitarist, easily having enough skill to become a mainstream icon.

- His eyes are not human, they share many subtle similarities to an Overseer. The irises are a pale blue and are a subtly jagged circle. The pupils are more of a slight vertical slit than dots. It's hard to notice at first, but upon closer inspection the differences are clear. Despite it all, his eyes have a fierce, exotic attractiveness to them.

- Though he never talks about it, he has exceptional sight, on the verge of supernatural. He doesn't trust the eyes yet, so he keeps it quiet, at most only saying that he can recognize magic from a mile away. This doesn't mean he can see everything, he just gets a sense that something is there and or "looks different" to him.

- Core body temperature is generally higher than an average human. He can raise it at will to unspecified heights.

- His connection to Rularuu is buried deep inside, thus not noticeable to casual observation.

- Due to his flames, he has limited chemical immunity, able to burn off most. This isn't automatic though, it's something he has to consciously do.

- Presently has two tattoos: The Cordially Yours logo on his upper right arm and a tribal design on his shoulder blades.
