Favorable Odds was born lucky... literally. His parents were speeding to the hospital when they happened into the middle of a battle in downtown Steel Canyon. One of the villains, a hulking figure by the name of The Savager, lifted their car up and threw it at the police! Though both his parents died from their injuries, he was delivered without a scratch.

As the orphaned child grew, he began to realize that he had a knack for winning more than he ought, no matter what he tried. It wasn't that he was overly good, per say, but lucky breaks seemed to follow him. When he was a teenager, an anonymous group approached him and told him that he was a mutant, capable of bending the odds of chance at a whim. They offered him a high-paying job in exchange for his services.

Unfortunately, Odds realized too late that he'd signed up to help an organization whose motive and targets were questionable. He spent months formulating an exit strategy, but they were two steps ahead of him the whole way. In the end, it was his lucky powers that saved him. Ever since, he's tried to make up for the evil deeds he committed in the name of that Agency.

Odds has the power to alter probabilities. By exerting his will to different degrees, he can do anything from affecting the outcome of a coin flip to guessing tomorrow's lottery numbers. However, his powers come at a price: every time he improves the odds in his favor, someone he is acquainted with suffers an unlikely mishap. In battle, bad luck this can often be directed toward those he is fighting. When it isn't accounted for, the outcome is completely unexpected and will most likely affect someone Odds is close to. It should also be noted that he doesn't affect free will. While he can vary the odds that a shot fired will hit him, he can't affect the odds that a person will choose to pull the trigger.

Aside from his mutant ability, he has significant counter-intelligence training. He's a skilled spy and thief, with enough mental and combat training so that he can feel at ease around places full of supernaturals (such as the Pocket D).

Favorable Odds is a somewhat unique blend of paranoia and cockiness. His abilities make his life relatively easy, but every time he uses them, it comes at someone else's detriment. This negative side effect often manifests itself in unexpected ways, so he is constantly wary about using his power.

While he's in uniform, he's all business and rarely fraternizes with other agents. To date, he's only revealed his secret identity to a handful of teammates throughout his career. However, in person he's actually quite sociable and known to party late into the night. He's somewhat of a player, showing off his ability with bar tricks and the like to pick up women.

In costume, only his steel-gray eyes and charcoal hair are visible. He stands tall and proud, his gaze occasionally flickering to the various entrances and exits of whatever room he's in. Nearly all of his hero outfits have chains for grappling and the like.

Out of costume, he's much more relaxed and can often be found tossing a coin idly as he leans against a wall or chews on a toothpick. He's roguishly handsome and has a charming smile. He's well tanned and in good shape, but by no means a body builder!

OddsNotes.jpg

  • All of this information doesn't exist in any database. As far as public knowledge goes, there isn't any. Unless you have discovered it IC, his secret identity and hero identity shouldn't be identified as the same person.
  • He's loosely based on X-Men's "Longshot", but with a bit more edge to him. Every action has a negative consequence, keeping a sort of balance to the odds around him.
  • I am very much against god-modding. Any RP attempts to dominate the character or know more than you ought without first discussing it with me will result in a global ignore. I RP for good actions with interesting give and takes. Compensate for RL on someone else's time.
  • I do not like to RP-fight. However, if it's initiated it should be known I take level into account. I don't care if you're the King of Olympus. If you're level 5, you aren't gonna bat my character away with one hand.
