This article about a character is a stub -- a small, but growing, work in progress. If you're the creator of this character, why not consider expanding it?

Gamma Velorum is the fusion of the human detective Gordon Chase and the Kheldian known as "Blue." Gamma Velorum is the proper name of the fused being, however, he will still respond to "Chase" or "Blue" if called by these names. He is an RP character on the Virtue server and, like this page, is a work-in-progress.

Character Data

Origin

Detective Chase was on duty one night, as a call came in to the station. An apartment building on the west side of King's Row had caught fire, and was suspected to have been the work of a serial arsonist that had been on the PPD's watch list for months. Arriving on the scene, Chase noted the distraught look on his fellow officer's faces. "No evidence again, men?" he asked, as the men shook their head. "God damn it!" he exclaimed, throwing his hat on the ground. "This bastard has been screwing with us for too long! Twelve fires, and not a single scrap of help! No evidence of fuel used, no discernible origin point for the fires, not even a single god damn match!"

Just then, another officer ran out of the building. "Ah, you're here, sir!" he said, upon seeing Chase. "We have a slight problem, Detective. We've searched most of the apartment, but we haven't been able to finish yet, sir. We can't get into the bedroom." "What do you mean, no one's been able to get into the bedroom?" "Well, sir, it's hard to explain. Several of us have tried, but... the door just won't budge! We've tried breaking it down, too, but nothing's worked. It's like something doesn't want us to get in. I know it sounds silly and superstitious, but it's made a lot of the men uncomfortable, and none of them want to go near it again. Can you give it a try?" Sighing, Chase picked his hat back up off the ground, brushed it off and placed it back on top of his head, before following the officer back inside the building.

Gordon Chase, PPD
As he approached the bedroom door, Chase felt what the other men must have felt - that door, despite having been burnt to a crisp, still looked as sturdy as if it had just been put in. The frame and walls surrounding it gave off the same odd feeling - they were blackened and should have been burnt to dust, but were still standing strong, as if something wanted this room to stay intact. Chase ried his best to shrug off the eerie feeling, and reached for the doorknob.

As his hand touched the blackened metal, he felt a strange presence - it was not inside the room, nor was it around him; rather, the strange presence was inside of him, as if it were searching his thoughts, looking for something. As quickly as it had entered, the presence had left - and the doorknob in his hand turned, and the door opened. He stepped inside, and before the officer with him could follow, the door had swung shut and locked behind him.

Within the walls of that room, Chase saw a body. It was charred and burnt beyond recognition, but appeared to be the body of a young woman. Hovering over her body was one of the strangest creatures Chase had ever encountered - he had no words to describe what it was. It seemed to stare at him, despite not having a face, and it spoke, not words exactly, but spoke directly to his mind.
Kurumi Otohime, Age 16

"I have never felt such sorrow before in all the years I have lived. Kurumi was my angel. Others saw her as flawed, broken, less important than even a human. But they were wrong. She was the most perfect being in this galaxy. She was an angel. And now she is gone. Such sorrow..." The creature began to move closer to Chase. "You... I felt it in you. This sorrow. You also have lost your angel. Tell me. Your angel. What was her name?" He knew exactly what the creature had meant. Reaching into his pocket, he pulled out a picture of a young girl. "Melissa. Her name was Melissa. She died a couple months back. She was only nine years old..." As he stared at his daughter's picture, tears filled his eyes. He began to cry.

The Kheldian "Blue"
The creature introduced himself as the Kheldian "Blue." He told Chase that Kurumi, who had been his host before she was killed, had given him that name, and that he no longer had any desire to be called by his real name. He told Chase all about Kurumi - She was a young Japanese-American girl, and a mutant, born with wings and fragile bones. She had spent most of her young life in and out of the hospital, but once she fused with Blue, her health greatly improved. He told Chase about their time together, about the adventures they went on, and how she had made him a better person. Chase confided in Blue his own troubles - About how he had gotten married, and had a family, and how his daughter had gotten sick, and how his wife had left him. The two of them talked for what felt like hours, when Blue asked Chase: "I want to find the people responsible for Kurumi's death. Will you help me?"

To which Chase responded, "Yes. Of course I will help you."

From that day forward, the man known as Gordon Chase and the being known as Blue ceased to be as individuals, and became one entity - Gamma Velorum.

Miscellaneous Data

Gamma Velorum as "Kurumi"
Despite currently being part of a Warshade, the Kheldian "Blue" was never a Nictus. While fused with Kurumi, they were a Peacebringer - However, after Kurumi's death, Blue was heartbroken and enraged, and Gamma Velorum's powers as a Warshade are a result of his wrathful, vengeful state of mind.

Kheldians are known to retain the form of any creature they once inhabited - hence the Nova and Dwarf forms of the standard Kheldian character. Because he's still in mourning over the loss of Kurumi, Gamma Velorum will occasionally appear with her body, as a form of remembrance - however, because his need for vengeance has gone unsatiated, she appears as she was when the two were separated: being burned alive. ((Note: Kurumi costume is active in-game, however, will likely not be used until he reaches the level to get Auras - It just doesn't look right otherwise.))

More notes will be added as they come.
