History
Iris was born in Arkansas, during a stormy night in mid-March, 1989. Her entire childhood was spent tinkering; breaking apart radios and Walkmans was a pastime for her. When she was eight years old, a freak October icestorm took out power in her town. She had been staying with her grandmother, Minerva Thales, and her gran happened to have a few oil lamps to light the house. Instead of irritation at the lack of power, Iris was in fact intrigued. She loved the soft glow the lamps and candles gave the room. She felt "vintage", as she would later describe it. It was that Christmas her grandmother gave her the heirloom pocketwatch she keeps around her neck, and it was that Christmas she became enthralled in all things Victorian.
In high school, Iris dabbled in random subcultures, trying to find a niche where she fit in. She was a bookworm, but there was no Science Club at her school. Iris' grades were good enough that her father, Kale Rockwood, felt she could have a computer... if she promised not to take it apart. Kale was, at the time, working on something [more] which would get him recognized and wealthy enough to move his family to a better area. Kale decided Iris could check out other locations through the internet and have her own input into where the family should move. Iris did some locale surfing, sure, but what she discovered was a bookstore with online shipping, and a seeming endless supply of Victorian novellas.
Iris read through books both about the Victorian era, and by authors from the time. She felt comfortable in the period.

"I've seen others... like that, around. They used to kinda scare me, but I've gotten used to it."
