Life before Lizard-ness
Gail Gaines was a typical college girl. Okay. Maybe not typical. She had below-average grades, and had to work over the summer to continue paying tuition. Her freshman year at Aeon University went well enough, passing in a completely unremarkable fashion as she pursued her business degree.
The Bite, and what happened after
She got a job working Nights in the biology department at the University, one of her duties at times being to feed the various rats, rabbits, reptiles and such being used in whatever insane experiments that people DO at Aeon University. One night, while putting crickets in a cage with a rather large lizard, the thing BIT her, just enough to draw blood from her fingertip.
This particular lizard, a large-ish gecko, had been the subject of a test involving a strain of the Lost mutagen, and once in her bloodstream, the stuff began to work its magic.
At first, it was just a rash on her finger, but she started feeling sick after a day or so. The 'rash' began to spread, progressively causing her skin to peel off, revealing smooth, gray scales beneath.
At the end of the process she was left a freak.
Details
Gail was left almost a foot and a half shorter than she had been. Her body was totally changed. Her skin had become scales, alternating light and dark tones of gray.
Senses
With the change came an odd shift in her vision. colors became dull and hard to discern. However, her eyes tracked movement well. She can see something moving MUCH better than the same object at rest. Thus her attention is frequently distracted in busy areas.
Her sense of smell was severely dulled as well, as well as her ability to taste.
For the most part, her hearing was unaffected, though her ears did become long and pointed.
Her sense of touch became extremely sensitive after her mutation, along with her kinesthetic sense and balance.
Physical Appearance and Unique Features
She stands Four feet, one inch tall. Her light gray scales are striped with darker gray. She's scrawny and lightly built, slender and quick. Her tail is just shy of six feet long, and completely prehensile, though she isn't very good at using it. It's also immensely strong, having once pulled a Hellion right off his feet.
Her fingers and toes are wide and flat, tipped with round-ish, sticky pads. These enable to her to climb literally *any* solid surface, provided it isn't extremely wet or loose/crumbly. Her fingertip/toe pads are each capable of supporting three times her total weight once they're 'attached'. If someone strong enough were trying to pull her off a wall, her fingers would literally rip off before she lost her grip.
Her tongue is nearly three feet long, ending in a sticky tip. Even though it creeps her out, she *can* shoot her tongue out and grab things. But in her words "That's... kinda nasty."
She may or may not have the ability to 'drop' her tail. She doesn't really want to find out, either.
Other Stuff
Gail is cold blooded, which happens to be her primary weakness. Prolonged warm temperatures will make her comfortable to the point of being drowsy, and long exposure to cold will slow her body functions down and eventually kill her. Thus, she is *always* cold to some degree, and will go to great lengths to stay warm.
Another annoying facet of her mutation is that she tends to get hungry in the presence of insects. While not really a weakness, it is fairly creepy, in her opinion.
One glaring fact about her is that she is NOT brave and bold. It doesn't take much to scare the lizard girl off. She is Physically weak, and relies on stealth and surprise to manage what success she does. Even her weapons are puny, using a pair of suppressor-equipped Walther P22s. She's a decent shot, but the weapons' lack of power has gotten her in trouble on occasion. plus, she seriously dislikes having to use them, preferring to remain totally unseen.
