Gemni
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
OOCNotes: I created this character to be my only earth powerset in CoH. After studying into the customization options I had decided to try a more unique approach to the set. I believe I created the way that the powers looked, long before the character model and story came into play. I jumped on the name 'Gemni' thinking that it was Gemini, since I tend to mispronounce the word. After I learned my mistake, I decided to stick with it anyway and have been very pleased with her creation so far.
Looks
Gemni has vibrant red hair that falls just past her chin. She has emerald green eyes and soft pinkish skin. She is fairly short for her age and tends to wear high heels when she is in a casual outfit.
When she concentrates she produces a crystal like shell for combat. This shell is form fitting and covers the top half of her face for extra protection. Her crystals are as strong as the hardest diamonds, and can reflect bullets from anywhere except her mouth.
Personality
Gemni has a somewhat shy and scared attitdue. This mostly comes from her dealings with Vilaerus in the past and the worry that he may still be after her as his 'chosen'. When you can find her calm and unworried about her past, she is still somewhat shy and uncertain of herself. She has been working on her confidence with the help of Jonas the Fist, who is always eager to show her that she's special. She isn't aware that it is mostly just because he wants to sleep with her, but it still helps her all the same.
Gemni has a soft spot for her brother and can find herself being overprotective or overemotional anytime that he becomes involved.
History
Gemni Alistar was born with a heart condition. Her parents ensured that she had the best of medical staff to help her through her infancy. As childhood progressed her condition began to worsen. By the time she had reached her teenage years her family had exhausted all medical funds. Gemni was dying.
When the opportunity presented itself to be the experiment of a new heart strengthening procedure, the family had little choice but to enroll their daughter. The experiment was to be conducted over a week's period, in which the patient was to have no contact with the outside. Her brother begged to come with, but was only allowed to see her to the Check In station.
Two days later the phone rang. "We regret to inform you.. Gemni didn't make it."
The family was distraught. They mourned and grieved over the loss of their daughter together, and as a family they buried the coffin they had thought held their daughter.
What they weren't told is that their daughter didn't react as they had anticipated. The experiment was to use the harmonic sound waves from a rare crystal to strength and harden the weak heart tissue walls. The had expected this to harmonize and syncronize with her heart's regular pulse. What they hadn't expected was for Gemni's heart to fully sycronize and absorb the cyrstal as it's own. The cystal had disappeared completely.
Gemni was prounounced dead for three days. On the third day, she awoken with a scream inside of the morgue shelves. She had been lucky to wake up when she did as they were just about to do the autopsy. They reconfirmed that Gemni had no vitals and that for all medical intents and purposes that she should be dead.
It was never fully explained as to why she woke up that day, but they guess that the crystal had some sort of life or energy source of it's own. When this was harmonized and synchronized with her own life systems, they estimate that the crystal itself became the main source of her life energy.
After calming Gemni down, they explained that her family had been told of her death. They had made preparations to have the funeral that afternoon and had already had family fly in from out of state to attend. They had made an informed decision based off all resonable medical data that they had been given. Gemni was then placed with the choice on whether to tell her family that she was still alive or to remain silent and assume she was dead.
