Golden Corsair
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
The Golden Corsair was my attempt at a Thugs mastermind. Primarily conceived as a foil to the Sky Raiders in game, and also inspired by piracy in general, with a little bit of Auric Goldfinger from James Bond thrown in to make things fun. She is currently my highest level villain, and unlike other characters, alt-itis has not taken over my plans of leveling!

Character History
Early Years
Any research into the background of The Golden Corsair will find a family history of flying that stretches back to World War II. Born Aurelia Collier some time in 1978, she was a 3rd generation pilot. Her grandfather, Edmund Collier, was a skilled pilot in the RAF during World War II. He survived the war with no major injuries, and with his retirement pension from the RAF, he started his own private airfield, Collier Air. Aurelia's father was Miles Collier, who also was taught to fly, and worked for the family business. When he was a mere 22 years old, he married his childhood sweetheart, a girl called Sally. They gave birth to 2 boys and Aurelia. Like himself, Miles urged his children to enter the family business and work at the airfield. After flight school, Aurelia worked as a charter pilot. Exact details of her life during these years are vague, and Aurelia has not revealed any more to anyone.
Becoming A Pirate
Details of the exact incident in which Aurelia turned to her life of piracy and adopted the Golden Corsair alias are better known than her childhood, but still sketchy. What is known is one day, Collier Air agreed to fly a wealthy jewel collector and his collection on one of their private jets from England to the United States. It started out as a routine flight, but something inside Aurelia snapped that day, and she commandeered the plane, forced the passenger to bail out once he was safely over land, and made off with his valuable jewel collection, disappearing into the criminal underworld of the United States.
The plane she was flying, a Gulfstream III jet, eventually became her base of operations. At this time, her lust and fascination of gold was growing, and she painted her jet, now named the Aureus, its trademark gold color. And it was from this jet, coupled with her blonde hair, that earned her the moniker "The Golden Corsair." She hired a select group of rogues to serve as her crew, and embarked on a spree of successful raids and robberies all over the globe.
Coming to the Rogue Isles
TGC, as her crew nicknamed her, soon realized that in the high tech world where groups like the Sky Raiders engage in a substantial amount of the air-related piracy, she would need more than just a standard plane. She soon began a small but profitable relationship with Crey Industries, smuggling various biological and cybernetic technologies from research laboratories in South America to the United States. It was on one of these smuggling runs that her fate was forever changed. With a load of fragile and extremely valuable artificial organs in her cargo hold, a hurricane appeared directly in her flight path. Her decision to brave the storm proved to be a bad one at the time, and despite her piloting skills and the actions of her crew, her plane crashed into the ocean near Bermuda. She was picked up by a Coast Guard rescue ship, and when they recognized who she was, she was promptly incarcerated in Ziggursky Prison, where after only a few weeks stay, she was assisted in a jailbreak by Arachnos, beginning her destiny and new career in The Rogue Isles.
Crew and Gear
The Golden Corsair's Faithful Crew
Most important to her success in the Isles, TGC has relied heavily on the loyalty of her crew, who have stuck with her through the best and worst. Even with the loss of their plane, her crew knows that the Isles are an untapped resource. They fancy themselves as modern day pirates, and as such, have taken the names of famous pirates from history.
Black Bart: Named after Bartholomew Roberts, he was one of her first recruits after coming to the United States, Bart served as a mechanic, laborer, and is quite a good shot with a pistol.
Calico Jack: Named after Jack Rockham, he is one of the other mechanics recruited, Jack served very much the same role as Black Bart. Between the two, they kept the Aureus in top flying condition.
Israel Hands: Named after Blackbeard's first matem TGC considers Israel to be one of the most important members of her crew. He served as a dedicated gunner on the Aureus, and his skill at making homemade bombs and explosives is unrivaled.
Charles Bellamy: Not orginally part of the Aureus crew, Charles and his twin brother Samuel are crack gunners. Working at the airfield in Cap au Diable, he met up with TGC during a robbery of a warehouse controlled by Goldbrickers. He has a keen tactical mind, and often gives the other crew pointers during combat. His marksmanship is nearly unrivaled, equaled only by his brother.
Samuel Bellamy: While his twin brother worked at the airfield, Sam worked at Port Recluse in Sharkhead Isle. He came to TGC on his own with a little convincing from his brother. Quite possibly one of the best marksman around, he shares much of the keen sense for tactics as Charles.
Edward Teach: Named after the most famous pirate of all, Blackbeard. Copilot and general strongman of the group. Despite his massive appearance and brutish strength, Edward is an able pilot, and his skill at piloting rivals Aurelia's own. He was separated from TGC during her incarceration, but soon she would meet up with him while he was working as private security for the Cage Consortium.
Weapons and Equipment
In a world where being superpowered is practically the norm, TGC was simply a normal human being. She has been forced to rely heavily on technology to augment and protect her during her adventures. She is an excellent marksman, employing a pair Smith and Wesson Model 657 revolvers. She has procured similar weapons for Black Bart and Calico Jack. Charles and Samuel prefer the use of UZI submachine guns, and Edward simply relies on punching.
Her other possessions include a Force Field generator, which she gleefully stole from a Sky Raider warehouse, a supply of standard issue Paragon Police Immobilizing Web Grenades, a portable mortar which fires custom armor-eating acid cartridges, and various mines, including explosive and poison gas models. She also picked up the finer points of using caltrops from some followers of Ninjutsu. In addition, through her travels, she has gathered a cache of various devices of minor value and usefulness. Very recently, Israel presented TGC with a new prototype explosive bullet. Although it is currently very unreliable, with the explosion only occuring part of the time, she has encouraged him to try new ideas. In the works is a bullet-sized version of a web grenade.
Outfits and Clothing
The Golden Corsair dresses primarily like a stereotypical flying ace. She is most frequently seen wearing a brown leather flight jacket, a leather miniskirt, tall black thigh-high boots, fingerless gloves, and a golden-colored silk scarf. She usually completes this ensemble with a pair of classic Rayban G-15 Aviator sunglasses, although she sometimes removes them when darkness is a liability. Her blonde hair is kept trimmed to shoulder length.
Her secondary outfit is a pressurized flight suit, complete with goggles and rebreather. She often wears a beret while actually at the controls of an aircraft, but since crashing her ship, she very rarely wears it.
Most recently, she has encountered the Vanguard, and after running a series of tasks (for a handsome reward, of course), she has put together an outfit reminiscent of a traditional "cape and tights" supplemented with Impervium armor.
The Freebooters
The Golden Corsair is the de facto leader of a loose group of pirates, thieves, and rogues called simply "Freebooters." Their current base of operations is a simple warehouse in Cap au Diable with plans to expand.
