History of a Name

The Heroic Harlem Hazard, a name well known to the City of Paragon since 1967. Raised from the streets of Harlem, a new face emerged to aid the Paragon City with the gifts of controlling the same radiation that granted so many Heroes their powers.

May 1990 the name had vanished, as had the hero. With so many rising stars, it was easy to become dust in the wind, soon Paragon City would grow to forget their out of town hero. Yet those whom fought beside the name knew of its legend, knew of its strength, knew of its kindness and knew it would one day return, for the reason the name had vanished, was simply due to the fact that its seed was flourishing.

Return of a Name

Residing in East Harlem, Tony Walker (Harlem Hazard) and wife, Linda Walker, had after careful consideration, given birth to their first son, Dierks Justice Walker. According to Dr. Wilmur Ofar, the radiation that seemed to flow in Tony’s body would not have an effect on the boy, apparently he had been wrong. Dierks suffered through his youth, constant severe medical conditions, even an alarming rate in growth of cancerous cells. A constant patient, believed never to reach his teenage years.

It was this that turned Tony into a monster, Tony had found his way to the dark side, taking what it was he wanted, attempting to grant his dying son a better life through riches. Yet as deaths clock ticked forward, a new discovery emerged. It appeared the Radiation, which Tony believed he had control of, also took its toll on Linda who died of radiation poisoning in 1995.

After his wife’s death, Tony had lost his sanity, returning to Paragon to harm those whom claimed his curse was a gift. Destroying what he could, only to land him in the Zig, awaiting execution. By 1998, Tony Walker was found dead within his high security cell, his murderer was the radiation within his blood.

Years later a fresh face stepped onto the campus of Paragon City High School. A face believed to be dead before ever reaching his first day of High School. Taken in by Dr. Wilmur Ofar, Dierks conditions seemed to miraculously heal when nearing puberty. Upon further studies, Dr. Ofar had taken notice that the radiation that once flowed in Tony Walker’s young blood by accident, WAS Dierks blood by birth. Dierks had control, just needed further guidance. Thus landing him here, in Paragon City, Rhode Island in hopes to reclaim his father’s name, and heal his fathers reputation.

Dierks Justice Walker, Paragon’s knight in radioactive armor.

KHZ740 (Creation of the HAZ-SUIT)

After joining the Teen Marvels, (Dr. Ofar’s creation of neglected Teen Heroes, raised and taught to do good in hopes of saving not only their own lives but the lives of others.), Dierks was showing promising abilities. His desire to learn more lead to intensive training under harsh conditions, Through physical and mental abuse, Dierks had learned to not only harness the powers he carried, but manipulate his own body to mutation, doing something his father could not do, altering his physical state and granting himself the ability to defy the laws of gravity. Ofar noticed the potential, noting that the boy hero he helped create would one day be a loved face through all of Paragon. He awaited the great task that would forever etch Harlem’s name into Paragon City History. Thus is that day, the invasion came to earth as quickly as it had left. Rikti forces parade through Paragon and heroes of old and new are being called to battle. This was Ofar’s chance, this was his chance to prove that his mistake in Tony Walker, would not be reenacted.

Created from an alloy used in cybernetics, Dr. Ofar had taken the blueprints from Crey Industries to create a “weapon” of armor for Dierks, a suit that drowned his body in lethal radiation, enough to power the reactor in Terra Volta. There was no time to test his creation, harnessing Harlem Hazard into the suit and hoping for the best.

*Character is hardly seen in the KHZ740 a.k.a. HAZ-SUIT, normally worn during invasions or during missions of high caliber. Too much time exposed to Dierks while in the KHZ740 may cause poisoning. Hazsuit.jpg
