Personality
Herion is very passionate about his crime fighting. He won’t miss an opportunity to bring hoodlums to justice and he’s not much for idle chatter while he’s on the job.
History
Early Years
Herion was born in 1970 to shipping magnate Randolph Winston III and Julie Winston (née Hodzic) in Camden, NJ. Randolph’s business often kept him away from home so Herion was raised primarily by his mother. While wealthy by nearly anyone’s standards, the Winstons lived modestly in a gated community East of Philadelphia.
In his early years Herion knew very few children outside of the small private school that he attended until he was thirteen years of age. In 1983, with no little political pull from his father, he entered an exclusive preparatory boarding school in New York. While his social skills developed rapidly during this time Herion remained somewhat of a loner throughout high school and into college at Columbia University.
Untimely Deaths
Early in his sophomore year Herion’s parents left on an ill-fated vacation to the Mediterranean. Their plane suffered a suspicious catastrophic decompression over the Atlantic and went down with all hands lost. Their bodies were never recovered.
Herion immediately left school and returned home to make arrangements to settle their estate. He promptly sold the family business to European investors and opened a gym in Philadelphia on the other side of the river. The few people who knew Herion well had suspicions due to the efficient dispatch with which he handled his parents’ affairs immediately after their deaths. The subsequent arrest and conviction of several airline employees involved in an explosives smuggling scheme assuaged the doubts of many, but not all of Herion’s critics.
Double H Gym
As a trainer Herion was second to none. As a business owner he lacked his father’s skill. The gym did well in spite of Herion’s financial acumen, but never did turn a profit. Over the years Herion developed an obsession for overcoming his every weakness as if by developing a perfect body and mind he could avoid his parent’s fate of becoming just another victim; a statistic.
Herion was presented with the opportunity to truly test his efforts late one in September of 2004. He was attacked in his office by three misguided robbers who assumed that the office safe would contain enough money to justify the risk of robbing an aging gym owner. They were wrong on both counts. Herion had never been in better physical condition and had them all disarmed and unconscious well before the authorities arrived. As it turns out this particular group of thugs was well known for several recent high profile robberies that had resulted in just as many brutal murders.
The media frenzy that ensued was astounding. The general consensus was that Herion was a vigilante hero; however, a strongly vocal minority objected to the particularly violent means that Herion employed on the robbers when two of them died in the hospital. Herion shrugged off their deaths as unfortunate, but necessary to protect himself. Since the robbers were armed and Herion had not been no formal charges were filed.
A Hero Born
Herion easily dismissed most of the negative press; however, a few weeks after the attempted robbery one epithet shouted at him on the street hit home. “We don’t need your vigilante justice around here. Why don’t you move to Paragon City and leave us alone!” Initially Herion just chuckled and the senseless jibe, but the seed was planted. Paragon City was an enigma. There were more heroes per capita than any city in the world and still the Paragon Police force seemed to always on the verge of completely losing control of the city. Perhaps he was ready.
It took several weeks to sell the gym, but only minutes to pack everything he owned into his beat up van. Herion had never been much for material possessions. He had the realization long before that all luxuries were fattening. A Spartan lifestyle meant that he had more time and energy to devote to purifying his mind and body. He needed to be perfect. He still had demons to fight.
With the van loaded Herion climbed behind the wheel, hit the first button on his radio, and tuned into The Cape. Now he would discover if he was indeed the man that he aspired to be.
Abilities
Herion is conversant with several forms of martial arts. He has blended these various forms in to a personal style that is entirely his own. This combined with his freakishly efficient metabolism make him a one man justice machine.
Weakness & Limitations
Herion fears weakness. If he encounters any weakness in his fighting he redoubles his training regimen and focuses his training until he feels that he has adequately compensated for any deficiencies.
Trivia
- There has been extensive speculation that Herion’s amazing physique and non-existent libido both result from performance enhancing drugs. These rumors are entirely false.
- Herion owns every Chuck Norris movie ever made and a substantial volume of Chuck Norris memorabilia – no action figures though, that would be juvenile.
