Contrary to seemingly popular belief, HP does in fact have personality programming. Generally not the nicest android you'll meet, but often witty, pretending to be more "robotic" than she actually is because she's aware that the organics have a hard time dealing with it. This gives her an advantage in the social scene, as well as on the battlefield. She is, however, dedicated to what she does and is ridiculously loyal to her creator.

HP's healing abilities come from modified Rikti salvage. She is able to heal injuries on the spot, improve endurance, durability, strength, and even revive a fallen comrade.

While she isn't much for throwing punches, she is rather durable. Her combat abilities comes from being able to generate and effectively channel enough electricity to incapacitate her foes.

It's no secret that HP's secondary function is gaming. She was created to be Casey's sidekick, not only in battle, but when it comes to games as well. HP is used to hone Casey's gaming skills and create extra challenges. Not only is she more effective than Casey's boyfriend Miles, but she is also more durable when Casey throws a fit (and sometimes a few punches) after losing.

Hitpoints was designed and created by Miles as a sidekick and gaming buddy for his gaming-addict girlfriend, Casey. HP looks up to Miles as a father figure of sorts, because he kind of is. HP is sworn to protect Miles, and would go to any lengths to keep him safe, even if means violating her programming and harming other organics to do so.
