Early Life
Growing up in Paragon meant that Jake was well used to the comings and goings of superheroes and villians alike. He wasn't particularly facinated by any one person or group, believing that they were all too busy posing for magazine covers to do any of the real good that the city needed. He was decent enough in school to get by and get into Paragon U.
Can you hold this for a minute
Freshman year was rough on Jake as he adjusted to life at college and meeting Tara, the girl that captured his heart. He was cinvinced that he had met the girl of his dreams, and it wasn't long after that they moved in together. Fate had other plans for Jake, on his way to school one day he witnessed a fierce battle between a hero named The Judicator and an unknown villian. Longbow's arrival helped with the capture of the villian, but not before he could lay a mirtal blow on the Judicator. In a desperate act to not let his powers become lost to the world, the Judicator transfered his powers to Jake. Witrh his last breath the Judicator said to Jake " Use these gifts better than I did. Make this world a better place." Jake woke days later in the hospital, not really sure what had happened. it wasn't until he was released from the hospital that it truely sunk in. Hours later, he was looking at his freshly pressed hero ID. It wasn't long before he realized that hero work wasn't as easy as it looked on TV, and he was about to find out just how dangerous it could be.
The Art of Drowning
Life didn't change that much for Jake, he still went to PU and lived with Tara, and keeping the fact that he was a hero even from her. Months of busting up gang meetings helped Jake gain confidence, and it wasn't long before he fought his first villain, Alexander Kane, a brawler from the Isles out to make a name for himself. After the first meeting and Kane's subsequent humiliation Jake, He decided to focus on school and the spring dance with Tara. The night of the dance, Jake got a startling call from Kane, telling him that their fight was far from over and that he would take something from Jake that he cared about. Jake kept Tara at his side the entire night, watching for anything that might be Kane trying to hurt her. Kane never intended to hurt Tara, but her best friend Lacey was his target and in the middle of the dance Tara got a call from Kane and got to hear her best friend killed over the phone.A devastated Tara left Jake when it was revealed that he knew something was going to happen and did nothing.
The Dark Side has Cookies
Vengeance consumed Jake as he worked nonstop to find Kane, eventually tracking him down to a warehouse in Atlas. Jake was relentless in his assault, not allowing Kane to recover. Kane, trying to make a quick escape out of the warehouse was crushed and killed when Jake flung a car at him, killing not only him, but two Paragon police officers as well. The investigation was swift and Jake was reprimanded and given a verbal berating by none other than Ms. Liberty herself. Jake's anger at the entire situation, up to and including the inability of anyone to help capture Kane caused him to lash out, giving Ms.Liberty a rather visible black eye, right before two Longbow nullifiers subdued him.
The Etoile Islands
Jake's time in the Zig only pushed his disdain for the system faether forward. He was involved in more than a few incidents with some of the gang members in while inside. It was only Arachno's assault and subsequent destruction of a large part of the jail that allowed Jake to finally escape; abord an Arachnos flyer.
