Affiliations: Joyeux is often found with the Usual Suspects including DJ Pyrria, Roxy Acetylene , Leon Sharpe and Blackstar. She has been working for Blackstar as the Head of Security for his firm Prometheus for several years.
Physical Attributes
Joy is tall and very physically fit. Her pale skin is fretted with a network of tiny scars but most people don't get close enough to see them. Her Irish-red hair is long enough that she has to remember to pull it out of her waistband when she puts her pants on. She doesn't tan but can go from pale to sunburnt in minutes.
Personality
Joy is defined by her fierce loyalty to the people and causes she chooses. While she is cool, mentally quick, and physically capable, she has yet to demonstrate a single instance where she acts instead of reacts. She follows orders well and is an excellant lieutenant, but she needs a leader to follow. This has caused her to fall into bad situations because of her willingness to be led.
Powers
Joyuex can will a thin layer of flame into being over her entire body. With a great deal of concentration she can project this flame slighty away from herself but it wears her out very quickly. She also has the ability to tightly focus her personal energy and channel it into her hands. This gives her standard Krav Maga technique an exceptionally lethal power.
Character History
Joy Wilson and her younger sister Mercy were born to a Texas businessman and his Rogue Isles girlfriend. Her father was gone on business trips fairly often when she was younger. Later it came out that he had another family in Texas with a wife and two daughters as well.Those half-sisters are currently in Paragon City under the Hero ID's of Gamer's Widow and Gentleness. Thier father died when Joy was 15 and Mercy was 10. Joy's mother turned threw the children out of the house and began to turn tricks for a living.
Joy protected her sister and herself as best she could.As soon as she was old enough she signed on with Arachnos to earn a recruitment bonus that would allow her sister to attend school outside of the Isles. She was dropped into a basic recruitment class sponsered by Ghost Widow. Unfortunately, it was a bad time to be associated with that particular branch of Arachnos.
Shortly after training commenced, her all-female unit was attacked by other Arachnos forces. Each squad was seperated out into cages and totured for several days, just for claiming the wrong patron. Most of the women died, but a few survived with what was termed "Stress-Induced Mutations". Joy's mutation (she won't think of it that way) was the fire shield.
A rescue team of Heros broke down the door near sunrise of the third day. One of the most brutal of Joyeux's captors had been going down the line of cages, eliminating the witnesses who were left. When he got to her cage she reached through the bars and placed her hands on his head as though in benediction. Then she sent 900 degrees of fire straight into his skull and collapsed. The rescue team sent her to the hospital wing at the Zig for observation. After the mass break-out got Joyeux back on the streets, she got a job working for one of the best mentalists in the world. Blackstar was a up and coming businessman in the Isles who needed a bodyguard who didn’t say much and could still take out a threat in an evening gown. Quickly, she rose to the position of Head of Security for his firm, training some of the best personal security in the business. She made contact with her sister as well as discovering both of her half-sisters had come to Paragon City. Things were starting to pay off for her.
About that time her Boss got heavily involved in a ‘Mutant Superior’ group. Her sister Mercy also joined them, convinced that her ability to fight was a mutation and that she could help strike back at those who had made their lives so hard. Mercy was sent on a mission to China and has disappeared without a trace at this point in time. Blackstar eventually left the mutant activists but not before he had built up enough of his own mental ability to no longer need a bodyguard. He’d also taken up with a rockstar Roxy Acetylene and her friends DJ Pyrria and the dark Leon Sharpe. Together, the five of them were often seen at fancy parties and the occasional bank robbery.
Slowly, Joyeux began to feel out of place. She wasn’t sure what she was supposed to be doing with her life, but she knew this wasn’t it. Tensions she hadn’t acknowledged came to the surface when she got extremely drunk on some strange green glowing mixture of Roxy’s. She admitted to her Boss that she loved him but he refused to accept that from her. There was an ugly scene, but all of the tangles involved were put on hold with the accidental discovery of Roxy’s mutant ability. Currently the need to hide and protect Roxy has allowed for a working stale-mate between Joy and David.
Recently Joy has been seen in the company of Calvarium. This new development has strained her ties with the Usual Suspects and she has moved into working more on her own. There are rumors that her sister has gone missing, possibly captured by Lord Recluse, and she is following up on them.
