Character
Juusan is a slightly dazed young man. Not really familiar with pop culture, with a shyness about social situation, Juusan dresses to hide his body, and to conceal his skill. Trained and agile, as well as quite tough and strong, Juusan doesn't have illusions about his ability to fight against metahuman threats. Therefore, he's very, very careful about what he can and can't do, which means he often comes across as intellectual, cautious, and very observational.
Powers
Juusan has no special powers. He is just a very well-trained, very capable martial artist, and therefore makes war against his opponents using hit-and-run tactics, relying on, for example, a crowd of enemies to make it difficult for them to hit him.
Metatext
RP Notes
- Juusan is meant to be entirely natural. That is to say, while he has it all over unpowered individuals, even ones with guns, when the metatech shows up, he's running, taking to the shadows, and trying to escape.
- Juusan can be a useful character to help train other artists, people who seek some way to expand their abilities with discipline.
- If you see Juusan in a mission, he's probably there because of some supernatural buff from another. He really is meant to be a perpetually lower-level of power character, but because he was so easy and fun to play, and so hellaciously tough, I couldn't avoid hitting 50.
Themes
Juusan is rare for me in that he's meant to play off another, famous character, as a contrast. He's my riff on Nightwing, to play into a friends' Batman analogue[3]. This means I get to play with some of the cooler things in Nightwing's story - the fantasy of incarnation, the idea that I could do that, you know, if I was fit, which is as useful as saying if I had wings, I bet I could totally do a barrel roll, but anyway.
Trivia
- Juusan hit 50 in two weeks.
- Juusan has a Formspring account. He had it for four months before Staff was ever made available in-game.
