Understanding
((OOC: To understand the story better, I am going to fill you in on the universe at which everything is setup by.))
The Realms
There are multiple dimensions of existence, and in this dimension there are realms, Haven, Shadow, Soul, Mortal and Forbidden.
The Haven Realm
This realm is where all the creations of God/The Creator were crafted. Only God's holy disciples, sub-creators and other immortals (Angels), may walk in this realm freely. There is a misunderstanding that Haven or Heaven is the place where mortal's souls go when they die. They in fact never go here, unless the soul is being reviewed by its creator.
Sub-Creators
These beings are The Creator's trusted advisers and given the ability to manifest creations of their own. They normally create life, or other beings to test on. Most of their jobs deal with making sure a life source remains in existence, or the souls they manifested for them remain proper in their image. Once crafted, they give the power to the Keirians to manifest to replace ones that are removed from the Soul Streams. Sub-creators are the "Gods" that control elements, items, fate, emotions and other means of the mortal world they have created.
Angels
These beings are of course, The Creator's known semi-creators, who he just granted to live in his Holy Kingdom and raised to become his guardians and holy preachers. They are the messengers of "Gods" and also known as "Guardians" for their personal "God".
The Shadow Realm
This realm is often known as Hell, Kingdom of Hell, or the Underworld. The Creator granted Lucifer, a sub-creator, power to rule this realm for himself and see fit to how it ran. Lucifer was a big competitor with The Creator when it came to "Good vs Evil". Though Lucifer has often seen fit to challenge The Creator for the throne of Haven, he has also attempted to persuade him to allow himself to take command of the Mortal and Soul Realm as well. This realm is infested with Demons/Fallen Angels, Dark Souls, imps, slave souls and Lucifer.
Demon/Fallen Angels
These beings are Lucifer's trusted followers that he commands. They help serve his Kingdom as he sees fit and runs many of them as officers in his army.
Dark Souls
Dark Souls are often confused with Evil Souls, but are souls that have lived a lifetime in pain. Emotional or Physical. They are here to be absorbed of their dark auras to cleanse them. The dark aura is used to contain all beings in the Kingdom.
Imps
Personal creations of Lucifer to serve himself. They do everything he desires.
Slave Souls
Slave Souls are classified as Evil Souls and for the souls becoming Evil, they are accepted by Lucifer to become his slaves in his Kingdom until he sees that they are no longer "Evil" or they reach their time.
Lucifer
He is The Creator's first Sub-Creator, and empowered him with many talents. He has developed the ability to mutate souls into beings. Also, the ability to travel to any other realm he wishes, but only if escorted. He does not have the ability to travel to the Forbidden Realm, and he cannot walk freely or escorted in the Mortal Realm unless The Creator unbinds and allows it. He is most famous for his ability to manipulate the flame.
The Soul Realm
They often called this place, The Gateway. This realm is where all the souls go when their lives in the Mortal Realm end and they no longer are allowed to inhabit their bodies. This is where the group known as Keirians, or Soul Judgers walk. Soul Judgers are as they sound. They judge the souls that pass through to their realm. As a Soul Judger, their duty is to give fair, equal judgment to souls. They will judge either good, evil, dark, ancient or young on the souls.
Keirians
These beings are created by The Creator to judge the souls of eternity that pass along the death steam. They have the ability to sense souls, which allows them to read them and judge them properly. Since their importance to the soul steams, they are allowed to travel to all realms unescorted, except Haven due to the purpose of why that realm exists. They have the rare and unique ability to create a portal to the Forbidden Realm, which no others have access to. They also have the ability to create new souls granted by the Sub-Creators and The Creator. For every soul sent to Lucifer, The Creator or The Forbidden Realm, a Keirian must create a new soul to fill their streams.
Soul Streams
There are many streams at which a Soul travels while in The Gateway. From the Mortal Realm, they travel a Death Stream to where they are judged in the Soul Realm by the Keirians. Once judged, they can be sent to the Presentation Stream which goes to the Shadow Realm or the Haven Realm, at which does not enter Haven, but are presented to Sub-creators and The Creator, sent back to the life stream to the Mortal Realm or placed in the Forbidden Realm.
Good Soul
Good souls are normally allowed to return to the life stream to wait to be transferred into a new person. This soul is what the sub-creators had planned for their manifestations, and are not required to be cured/fixed.
Evil Soul
Evil souls are sent on the presentation stream to be claimed by Lucifer as a Slave Soul, or by The Sub-creators or The Creator to be cured/fixed. Just because the soul is Evil, doesn't mean it is flawed, but if the soul was originally crafted for good, it could be. If neither Lucifer or Haven claims them, they are returned to the life stream to wait to be transferred into a new person.
Dark Soul
After suffering pain in their last life, these souls are removed from the soul stream and contained in a barrier, which travels directly to the Shadow Realm by a Keirian, and while in this realm these souls are absorbed of their dark aura and then returned to the Soul Realm to be judged once more. Then placed on appropriate streams.
Ancient Soul
Ancient souls are aged souls who have been passed through the soul streams many times and if the soul travels too many times it will inhabit Creator like abilities. So there-for the Keirians must remove these souls from the soul streams and present them to The Creator to be judged personally. The Creator will pass judgment to grant this soul new life, become a disciple, immortal or sub-creator, or banish them to the Forbidden Realm to rest for the rest of eternity. When the judgment is made, they will return to their respective streams, become a disciple in Haven, or the Keirians will open a rare portal stream to the Forbidden Realm for the soul, and close it as it goes through to never be seen again.
Young Soul
Young souls are of course souls that did not live a meaningful life and it was ended before they reached their prime either by natural or corruption. They are immediately placed in front of all the souls in the life stream to the birth stream to the Mortal Realm and given a new body and life to inhabit.
Mortal Realm
This realm possesses the entire Universe. From the Birth Stream souls inhabit bodies that create life and they grow of ages and then eventually die, depending on the species, returning to the death stream to the Soul realm to be judged. The circle of life goes on.
Forbidden Realm
The Forbidden Realm is the realm of no return, or at least for those who cannot craft the rare/unique portal to the realm. This realm is used to trap ancient souls that have neared the point of Creator-like abilities. This is also a prison for troublesome creations The Creator and Sub-Creators have manifested. The ability to access this realm has been given to only the Keirians by The Creator. It is rare that any other would know it, except them.
The Story
Jonus Kain is the Lord of the Keirians, the Soul Judgers. The Keirians are a gathering of 5 total Clans; Kain, Darius, Cronote, Nambi, and Andrio. The Kain Clan is the royalty of the Keirians and hold the Keir Throne in the Temple of Souls. Jonus had married another Keirian and eventually Rage Kain was born and became the eldest offspring and heir to the Kain Clan's spot as Lord.
Rage was an only child, destined to rule over the Keirians when Jonus decided to retire. While traveling to the Shadow Realm to meet with Lucifer, Jonus met a soul who was crafted into a female demon by Lucifer. The female demon had a child and was banished from the Shadow Realm. Jonus could sense the good in both and offered the female demon a lifetime in the Soul Realm as his spouse. He would openly accept her child as his own and adopt her. The child's name was Malerie, and she was the same age as Rage. Now with two children and two wives, Jonus began an up-bringing for Malerie as a future Keirian. The other Clans did not agree with Jonus's decision to allow a non-Keirian blood the ability to judge souls. Jonus offered a deal, that when Malerie became of age, she would marry into one of the other Clans and finally become a Keirian. When they all agreed, Malerie was given a mate to marry and their futures would live promosing.
Jonus did not wait long before him and Malerie's mother gave birth to their child, Lucious Kain. Growing up, Lucious was more of a loner and Rage normally spent his time learning the Keirian arts so that one day he would be a great leader. Lucious was easily jealous of his older brother, finding himself not welcomed much in the Keirian events since he was half-blood. Malerie would often spend time with her mother learning the Keirian history and aiding to the Clan's daily routines. Lucious was then left to himself. He would sneak into the Temple of Souls when his father would go to perform the secret skill that opened the portal to the Forbidden realm to banish ancient souls. Only the head of the Clan knew the ability and it would pass down to the eldest son and so on.
Attempting to master this skill, he spent most of his childhood in hiding training himself to perform it, and mastering his unique electricity powers.
One evening in the Soul Realm, there was a meeting among the Clans to announce that Malerie was now of age and the next day she would finally become a Keirian. When they all dispersed except Jonus and his two wives, Lucious took his father's sword from its mantel and lunged it into his mother's heart, killing her instantly. The sword was called the Soul Slayer. Jonus was angered, but before he and his wife could react, Lucious had jolted them with his lightning and sent them into the Soul Streams.
Just as this happened, Rage had walked in to catch the action. Angered that his younger brother had just sent his father and mother into the Soul Streams, he engaged into battle with Lucious. Lucious was matched near perfect with his brother, but Rage had been training longer and was able to maneuver better. Lucious, though, had thrown his father's sword at Rage, allowing Rage to catch the sword, but crafted a portal just as Rage was maneuvering and ended up transporting through it.

This portal took him to the Forbidden Realm. It was dark and misty which also made it hard to move. He held tightly onto his father's sword and waited there knowing there was no escape.
It seemed like little time had gone by for Rage. Suddenly a being appeared to him and began speaking to him about the sword he was carrying. He told him he knew where it came from and that he knew Jonus Kain very well and he had learned rumors about his untimely death. Rage assured him that his father was not dead and shooed him away.
The being did not heed Rage's words and began to introduce himself as Mokuru, Sanjian Lord and that he knew a way out. Rage laughed and let Mokuru know that the Forbidden Realm was only accessable by the Keirians and Creators who had knowledge and the ability to make the Forbidden Portal.
Mokuru laughed back at Rage and told the poor Keirian that he would be able to get him a new body and help him escape. Rage knew that would be impossible, but with no other choice, he accepted the offer. Mokuru manifested Rage into a body, mutating him some, and then the two suddenly appeared in Paragon City. Confused and unable to understand, Mokuru claimed himself to be a Sub-creator. Before Rage could reply, Mokuru told Rage to help himself in the Mortal Realm, until he returned and vanished.
Rage knew this was his escape, but he had to make himself blend in until the Sanjian Lord returns. So Rage learned that his quick reflexes and speed made him more powerful than the mortals and he discovered a Super Hero registry. He signed up and began to fight crime. Using the Soul Slayer to punish the villains of the city, he often found himself absorbing souls in his father's sword by mistake. It hungered for more souls and Rage was just its puppet.
The Soul Slayer
The Creator had given the Keirians a mighty sword in an event that an ancient soul became Creator-Like. With his sword, it would instantly absorb the soul, and destroy it immediately. Whether soul or in being form, it wouldn't matter.
