Background

Prior to Earth

Spoiler warning: Details about a player-created storyline, or information currently unrevealed about a character, follow.

Born on a far off alien homeworld approximately 75,000 light years from earth, Kedzie had a relatively normal upbringing by her species. Taught everything she needed to know in a wide variety of fields in her species' belief that their knowledge could bring peace to other races, Kedzie embarked on her traditional rite of passage off world when she was fifteen earth years of age. Somewhat fatefully, she missed a large ritual that had her race return to the planet.

During the ritual, a well known race of mercenary aliens invaded... Kedzie's race, peaceful as always tried to negotiate before being slaughtered in the billions, the planet burning when the alien arrived home. The once beautiful teal sky red with flame and ash, the sparkling pearl cities left grey and shattered. It took several weeks of wandering through the debris of various cities before the woman finally realized she was truly alone, a great race of tacticians, poets, pilots, artists and more gone with only her left. Reporting the unsolicited attack to the local ruling authority, Kedzie remembers little of the next few years past wandering the galaxy at large, usually ending up in some kind of adventure on whatever planet she visited.

That was, until her spaceship's warp drive malfunctioned...

Earth

Landing and unfortunately trashing her spaceship just off Talos Island, Kedzie's first greeting of human kind wasn't the best of things... Several heroes had reported to the disturbance and a non-English speaking Kedzie took a long time to try to explain that she came in peace. Taken to Atlas Park city hall to have a translator devised before meeting with Statesman, Positron and Synapse of the Freedom Phalanx, Kedzie pleaded her case for asylum against her people, a deal signed after a minor interruption that she would be safe under law and force from threats from outside Paragon City and the Rogue Islands while within the territories, a minor altercation starting when Lord Recluse hijacked a link into the discussion to argue that she'd be safe inside his borders. Unfortunately, it was an honest deal without any trickery and the Phalanx were forced to accept the terms for the pleading alien they'd been thrown from beyond the solar system.

Picking up the basics of Terran language surprisingly fast thanks to the translator before being taught English and several other human subjects at Oxford university in England as part of a study program, Kedzie recently started a 'career' performing minor heroic acts in Atlas park, in the end taking up the offer to work in the Rogue Islands to the point she could be found zipping between the two every day.

Spoilers end here.

Personality

Unlike other alien species, Kedzie is somewhat meek and unobtrusive, even though she stands tall for human standards at six feet. She's rather eccentric and quite 'weird' by human standards, always happy, eager to explore while learning and studying. In combat her outlook turns somewhat grim however, never attacking until she's given her opponent an ultimatum that this is their one, and only chance to walk away before she starts something. This isn't to say she doesn't have a temper, a few selected people have witnessed the fury of a Kedzie uncaged and most of them have settled into life within the Zig, content that what keeps them in, keeps the monster out. Thought it is very rare she takes anything to this point of white hot fury, usually the alien flees the scene before such can happen.

Having recently discovered what human clothing feels like, Kedzie is very quick to jump to the option of shopping. She can be found usually thinking hard on what to buy, collecting massive amounts of various items of clothing to jumble up and wear. Her favorites so far are heels and leather, the alien owning many biker jackets and leather skirts that go with her high heels. No one's told her that leather comes from cows yet... It's probably a better option not to tell her that what she's wearing was once skin of an animal.

On terms of affection it's a whole new game to the alien with the words 'love' and things like kissing and hugging being thrown about. All she's known is alien planets from her youth... And a loss of her homeworld... This brings much confusion to her when she sees and hears things, the woman never having had a hug before coming to earth. She enjoys the attention, but she has been warned on the consequences of going out and making a fool of herself by hugging and kissing everyone she sees, thus she's still rather reserved with how she acts... The warmth of someone to talk to and be with is still something she greatly enjoys, company is reportedly the best thing from Earth next to jackets.

Abilities and Weaknesses

Physically, even though she's weak for her species, Kedzie is packed with muscle like machinery and ligaments like steel cables. She's been shown to punch clearly through several inches of steel and pick up at maximum twelve tones. Her body also generates a kind of unseen energy field naturally, practice from early childhood having given her the ability to fire off destructive beams without much effort at all, the field also allowing her to push against earth's gravity to a point she can levitate and fly. Alien physiology also shows when she proves to heal at an extraordinary rate, able to take blows that would stun a human without flinching, the reason lying in her body's metabolism and cell structure, every blow causing the cells to replicate and armor themselves like a dense lattice, making each coming attack easier to absorb... That isn't to say she's invincible, she still bleeds and has bones broken, it's just slightly easier to recover from the next attack.

A key weakness is her strength, while strong for human standards, a member of her race could easily double or triple her ability without blinking. Mentally her curiosity is like an open book, her mind is clear as day to read... If one can decipher the mix of alien and English she thinks in, trying to control it however will nearly always meet in a steel wall of defense of amazing will, shy alien having a surprising reserve of strength hidden away. Final weakness is linked to what makes her 'super' in the first place. Energy projection, strength and body's healing/adapting ability drawing massive amounts of energy, a little bit of a sore spot to be pointed out... Kedzie eats a lot, more than a human could stomach in a single sitting. A snack for a human hardly curbs hunger for the woman, a three course meal only makes her a little full. A smart enemy might see this and take a defensive role for a long time, causing her to expend all her energy to the point of collapse.

Kedzie's outlook on humans

Gifted with a natural sense of selfless pride and a vast array of knowledge on several subjects (Fighting, Mechanics, Medicine and more) Kedzie believes humans to be unique in the galaxy, describing them as a fascinating one-off of genetic diversity with an amazing span of culture. The alien finds humans to be rash and unapologetic, doing things 'simply because they can', praising them for taking the initiative other species lack... Before calling them completely insane as a race, vocally wondering how such a callous collection of creatures could have formed what they have. Needless to say, with a lack of her own race, Kedzie views humans as a marvel and as a prospective adoptive family. Always surprised by the seemingly illogical steps humans take to reach their goal, the alien has remarked several times she feels she'll never grow bored around them.

Kedzie's glasses

It's no news that Kedzie's race commonly used gifted alien technology that gave him readouts of target's estimated power, biology, chemical makeup or schematics, but Kedzie's super compact glasses are different. Having built them from the remains of her destroyed set from landing shortly after coming to earth, Kedzie has miniaturized and advanced on the technology to a level she could fit them into the reading glasses Earth doctors told her she needed. Giving not only readouts on people's abilities to the best of their scanning range, the glasses can also peer into the IR spectrum and even show chemical composition of certain objects if given enough time scanning them. Of course all this information goes into her constant plans and strategies of what to do, how and when.

Relationships

Friends, allies and close people
  • None.: Ked's shy to speak up, to talk to people. Thus she doesn't have many friends.
Neutrals
  • None... So far.: Ked doesn't chip in to the conversation much, as such she hasn't got quite the web of human contacts yet.
Enemies/Rivals
  • Again, none.: Perhaps graciously and as a part of the fact Kedzie is quite shy to talk to strangers, Ked hasn't made any enemies yet.
