How it all began...

Rigel Savage was born into caring family. He was an only child, and grew up attending a private school where the norm for children was to keep to themselves. His parents decided he needed an activity to that would give him focus and keep him occupied. They enrolled him into a fencing school that would teach him how to use a sword, but more importantly, to use a sword with finesse. At first, Rigel was hesitant and pretty sure that it would just be another phase in his childhood. However after a few classes and realizing that he had an innate talent for it, he decided to take it as far as he could. As he entered his teenage years he became more arrogant and full of himself, he would also sign up for fencing competitions, although for him it was hardly competition at all. Rigel's achievements increased with each competition, from city champion, to state champion, to regional champion. Rigel was determined to take nationals, and then the world.

Rigel trained and prepared for another stepping stone to take him to the top, however bumping into some thugs on the way to his training hall would prove otherwise. These men were strange at first glance, wearing very expensive and formal suits, yet some were dressed like bikers. These men belonged to a very organized gang known as Syndicate. Rigel's over confidence and lack of manners proved to get their attention, he demanded from them an apology. He would go on to talk about who he was, and who they were 'not'. This angered the Syndicate men, one of them, who seemed to be a leader, pulled two scimitars from his back and challenged Rigel to a 'friendly' duel. Rigel accepted hoping to show off, although even he didn't expect to lose. Not only did he lose, but he was nearly demoralized from the amount of skill this man had. The man's swords didn't even need to make contact with Rigel, instead slicing the very air itself and leaving his sword in pieces.

Rigel became utterly depressed, even dropping out of his competitions and quitting fencing all together. Even the money offered by his rather wealthy parents wasn't enough to lift his spirits; although, it was enough to lift someone else's spirits. A week later there was a break in at his parents' estate. Rigel went to investigate, but hid upon noticing the bodies of his parents on the floor. The men responsible wore the same uniforms and suits worn by those of the Syndicate. Rigel couldn't challenge them, not after what happened last time. However his depression turned to anger, and his anger turned to something more dangerous, patience.

Rigel knew where some of them hanged around, he decided to track them down and take his revenge. After finding them, he began to take his revenge; he bowed to them and asked if he could be trained in the same manner as a Sword Master. Due to his natural skill and pervious years of training, they accepted. He was only an initiate for a few days before they realized his skill was comparable to an Adept, and on top of that, he had such good manners even when following an order to kill someone. It wasn't long before he began training to be a Sword Master. Rigel's patience was his greatest weapon, never getting angry, never jumping to conclusions, and always waiting until the last second before getting the job done flawlessly.

Just like it was when he was a child discovering his talent in fencing, he now as an adult had discovered his talent as a Sword Master, having perfected techniques before others as well as creating some of his own. Rigel had become known as one of the most deadly Sword Masters in the Syndicate, and his patience had paid off. He knew he'd soon receive a mission of dire importance, and one that involved a lot of danger, and he knew it was the perfect chance. During this period he'd actually made many friends, people he respected and respected him back. He began having second thoughts about the finale of his revenge, would he really kill people who looked up to him like a mentor?

Rigel's feelings towards one of his adepts were abnormally strong. Just looking at his eyes, he could tell they were much like his own. Rigel for a long time now had been pretending to be something he wasn't for a reason he believed was greater than himself. However he had lost sight of himself and could tell that this young boy was much the same way, even though he couldn't tell the exact reason why. In the end he couldn't bring himself to kill them for something that they themselves were not actually involved with. He instead got in contact with the PPD and made an offer than they accepted. As long as Rigel and the boy known as Dog Tags were to be pardoned for their past crimes, in exchange they join Powers Division. The PPD agreed, and Rigel's last request was that he be allowed to adopt the boy if he chooses to also work with Powers Division. They allowed this, since the boy was under age and had no immediate family of any kind. Rigel's last favor was that the boy not be told of this, since it would be better for him to not feel like he owed Rigel more than he did.

Rigel kept his Syndicate alias of Kilij, being nick named that for the weapons he chose to wield. He was allowed to continue working as a mercenary as long as it was in the name of their loyalty to Emperor Cole. Rigel and his adopted son Young are thought to be unique cases among Powers Division, for having started off as regular people only to be trained to do things that defy human potential.
