Face to the Public
Melissa Keynolds, or Kitty as she is usually called, hails from a small city nestled in the North-Eastern Canadian Rockies. She was a late bloomer for her powers, only having come into them at the age of 16, but she quickly grew in power before she ended up in Paragon City during the summer of 2009.
She ended up taking a small, part-time job at a local coffee shop in Atlas Park to help her pay the rent on her apartment and get food and pay bills. She adamantly refuses to accept funding from the Hero Corps to assist in this capacity. "Being a hero is reward enough to see the look of relief and thanks on the faces of a civilian." she told them.
She rose quickly in security level as she proved herself to the Hero Corps registry and began to do the more dangerous tasks suited to her power. Even now, she helps battle the Cimeroran Traitors, the Crey, Nemesis, Rikti and even the Praetorians.

Personality
Kitty is a bubbly individual. She is a little shy of most situations, but she is more often than not, very sweet and kind so long as others show her the same respects. She is often seen as a bit flighty and air-headed, but that is only a ruse. Deep down, she is extremely intelligent and very protective of her friends. She is passionate about doing the right thing to help others and would go through great lengths to do so. She takes being a hero very seriously and even to the point of invading the Rogue Isles to try to be of help there.
Once an individual has discovered that she isn't flighty or air-headed, they quickly discover her sharp wit, calculating mind and more-stubborn-than-a-mule attitude. She is very opinionated, but not opposed to hearing other ends of an argument. She isn't always set in her opinions, preferring to be informed rather than make a rash choice.
Aspects of the Pyrokinetic
Kitty's pyrokinetic power is unique. Unlike many heroes where they are normally locked into a chosen archetype or role, she is able to change hers on a whim. Her strongest set of powers is her controller aspect, of course. With her uncanny pyrokinetic control, she shifts aspects according to her situation and what is needed. Currently she has only three aspects and these aspects can vary in her look and mindset. The core personality is always the same, but memories and experiences tend to differ. This has led the Hero Corps and the Arachnos to put a close watch on her.
She is able to shift between each aspect at will, locking away the memories of each, though still having full access to them as well, thus effectively allowing her to lead multiple lives.

Abilities
Kitty has the uncanny ability to manipulate fire and kinetic forces. Doing so is a simple task for her and she is also able to change her role. She isn't actually super strong, rather she manipulates a kinetic field to enhance the impact her fists make on a target and reducing any damage she might take as a result.

History
Kitty was a quiet girl. She got very little public schooling because she had been born so different from everyone else. Her naturally pink hair, cat ears and tail made her stand out like a sore thumb. She got her basic education and spent many hours perusing the libraries and book stores. She is almost all self taught and a quick learner to boot. Upon reaching the age of sixteen, she finally made the active choice to attend public school. It was a success for the first six months, except for some minor bullying. Due to her shy, yet bubbly nature, she took it with a grain of salt. It was the day of her seventeenth birthday when it all happened.
She was walking in the halls of her school, heading to her next class when she was jumped on. Three notorious bullies surrounded her and stopped her. They began to call her names, push her about and pull on her tail and ears. She grit her teeth and bared the torture, even after they pushed her hard and she fell to the ground, scattering her books everywhere. While picking up her books, one of the bullies decided to get one last kick in, literally. He kicked her in the rear and that was the last straw for her.
She turned on the bully, standing as flames engulfed her body and then lashed out at the poor fool who had pushed her too far. The bully was charred to a crisp with very little left but ashes from the intense heat, yet strangely, the bully was the only thing affected by the flames. Everyone else left her be after that.
Feeling alienated and ostracized from the school, she finished her school year, graduated top of the school and then left. There was no investigation, no lawsuit or anything but fear and alienation because she was a mutant and different. Then she heard about Paragon City. A City of Heroes where she could go. A place where everyone was different and everyone had strange and unusual powers. So.. She set out from there nine years later after her parents finally decided she was ready to go. She left home and, along the way, practiced her powers and honed them to a sharp edge.
Insight into the Mind
Perhaps the most unusual aspect of her pyrokinesis is the ability to aslo manipulate her own mind. This makes Fortunata and other telepathic contact with her mind extremely dangerous. Currently she leads three separate lives and they are all fully developed and all have the same background prior to coming to Paragon City.
Canadian Pyro Kitty
When Kitty first came to Paragon City, she registered at Canadian Pyro Kitty. This aspect of her is the first personality and set of experiences she ever obtained.
During a routine sweep through Galaxy City, Kitty encountered Sylys, a demonic individual that seemed to have best intentions upon encountering her. She was a shy, but trusting individual and so followed the other hero to his sanctuary. There, they had a few drinks and then a few things happened.
Sylys, his intentions not all pure, grabbed Kitty by the hair and hauled her up to a magic circle. There, he chained her to the thing and tore her clothes off. He made her beg for him, made her want him. And eventually she ended up breaking and giving in.
This lead to a schism in her mind, allowing her to change her personality to a degree and lock away a completely separate person. Soon after, she encountered Jake. He ended up bargaining with Sylys for Kitty's freedom and then soon after, a magic ritual was done. The ritual ultimately failed to happen properly, though Sylys believes it has and Jake is none the wiser.
This aspect of Kitty remains a submissive slave to Sylys and will serve him always.
Pyrokinetic Kitty
Kitty was freed. Her mind lay in pieces and she used that to her advantage. She formed a new persona, Pyrokinetic Kitty, a Controller-type hero that did all she could to save who she can. She was a hero at heart and that heart belongs to Jake.
He saved her from a certain lifestyle that this aspect of Kitty did not wish to have. She fell in love with him almost instantly and she would give her life for the man. She quickly rose in power in this aspect, proving that she can be trusted, respected and above all, useful.
She was happy to be with Jake, despite her disposition and sexual orientation as a lesbian. The one man that made her not quite so homosexual.
Kitty Villanite
Perhaps the most curious aspect of Kitty. Kitty Villanite was inducted into the Aeon Kingdom by King Aries after a run in with one of his daughters, Princess Liyari.
Kitty, broke had been sent to the Ziggursky Penitentiary for reason unbeknown to anyone but her and who she's working for. She broke out with the help of Liyari and soon became friends with the woman. They stuck together and began to do tasks and start to build up their power.
During one of their tasks, which happened to be one relating to the Villanite Family, she found a pearl. She took that pearl from the creature she had slain and kept it. Aeon Knight told Kitty to take the stone to King Aries and present to him to show what she had done.
She took the stone to Aries and from there, she was inducted into the family as a Knight herself and charged with the safeguard of Princess Liyari. Now, bonded to Liyari as she is, she will lay her life down for her and has begun to develop feelings for her as well.
Despite that, Kitty found that Liyari was untrustworthy and unreliable. Liyari took off and left Kitty to wonder what to do next.
Other Aspects
Kitty has many other aspects, but these are undeveloped at this time.
Strange Mind
Kitty's changing aspects also affords her some shifting abilities. Since each aspect is, essentially, a new person, her body takes on whatever experiences, scars or otherwise, that are linked to each aspect.
The Villanite mark appears on her navel no matter her aspect. She has come to fully accept the Villanite family into her lives and will do anything for them now, no matter her aspect.
