Background

Nicole Weaver grew up in Melbourne, Australia with her parents and three brothers. As she attended boarding school for most of her childhood, her family wasn't particularly close-knit. At age 16 she was recruited by a talent agent to star in Children of the Corn 17; the film was a financial and critical flop, but her performance was generally praised, and she continued working as a B-movie actress for a few years. Once she had built up some fame, Nicole made the transition from actress to singer. Though her family was supportive, they did not keep in close contact.

Most expected her to fail, and initially she did. After a couple radio hits she started to fade into obscurity at only 22. Nicole began to feel that her failures grew from her lack of creative talent, and stopped taking the reigns of her career: as she allowed others to write and produce for her she had a career resurgence and achieved worldwide fame. She enjoyed her success, traveling the world, creating extravagant tours and releasing hit after hit. In 2005, mid-tour, Nicole was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to cancel the remaining shows. She returned to Melbourne and her family for treatment and hid from the public eye for months.

Her family life became tense during this period. This was the most time she had spent with them for years, and as she was older she was more perceptive. Nicole began to discover things about her family that strained their relationships and made her eager to leave despite being too weak to live alone. 5 months after her diagnosis, her cancer was classed as being in remission and she was free to leave.

Nicole took a few months to rest before re-embarking on her tour, and also to hide something: the radiation treatment had activated her latent mutant powers. She discovered the ability to manipulate and control light in many forms, and if she went long periods without using her powers, her body would shimmer slightly. Not wanting to reveal herself as a mutant to her fans and the world, she stayed in Melbourne and experimented with her powers. Christening herself Lady Lightshow, she took the streets of Melbourne, partly to keep her hometown safe as well as to learn and control her powers. She made a name for herself as a hero and was eventually recruited by Statesman to patrol Paragon City, RI, USA with hundreds of other heroes. She changed her name to Dance Floor in an homage to her musical roots, declared to her fans that she was on a "hiatus" and left for the states.

Powers and Abilities

Dance Floor has the ability to control light. Her body can emit light energy in many different forms. She can create patterns, illusions and strobes that send her targets into trances or deep sleeps, stun or blind them, or even scare them. She can bend light around herself or others to become invisible. The most prominent use of her powers is the creation of hard light: she can form shields, barriers, bombs, or concussive blasts of light to protect or harm. Although she cannot fly indepedently, she can "fly" by forming a shield around herself and directing its movement.
